If only subliminally, the public is aware that the Bush adminsitrationis not being straight with them – they suspect Gonzales is lying – they know Cheney is lying. They’ve seen Iraq, Katrina, and too many other questionable instances, even if they’re only paying half-attention at best.
A hearing, under oath, with transcripts that can be capsulized, summarized and digested will be a good thing. The media will not be able to ignore it.
The percentage of Americans who want the hearings is pretty high, considering the percentage of die-hard Bushies. This could be the beginning of the end.
