Even though both liberal and conservative lawmakers, pundits, members of the media, and the American public are pushing for Gonzales’s resignation, the White House refuses to budge. “We are not negotiating,” White House spokeswoman Dana Perino said. “We are where we are, which is where we were last week. I can understand why people would think we have not made the right decision, but we think we have.”

I am not saying that our leadership should sway to the winds of public opinion, however, this is a situation where both sides of the aisle are crying out with the same voice, and neither side is being heard. I post often on TP, but I am rather moderate and also post on right-wing blogs as well. I am seeing the same comments on both sides. The American people in general want Gonzales gone.

March 26th, 2007 at 11:26 amInaccuracy alert.
Upon reading the article, WH spokeswoman Dana Perino’s comments quoted above were not in reference to Gonzo, but to the WH’s decision to keep top WH aides from testifying before Congress.
The tenor from the WH regarding Gonzo is rather different, with them allegedly “placing the onus on Gonzales to explain himself to lawmakers”.
Here’s what Perino said in direct reference to Gonzo:
So, upon further reflection, the WH support for Gonzo isn’t nearly as unwavering and absolute as TP would have us believe.
Rather sloppy, TP. Apparently you’re in need of a writer.
I’m available, but we need to talk about salary and bennies. ^_^

March 26th, 2007 at 11:29 amAgain Americans will experience the “character” of GWB. . . the president who never makes a mistake! He is simply incapable of putting his personal desires and beliefs to the side when it comes to assessing his decisions. Of course, he never makes a mistake, so why should he?
This man is incapable of comprehending anything outside of his limited world view…which is why the USA is now viewed as being incapable of leading on significant and important issues.

Gonzales also LIED to Congress when he said, “I would never, ever make a change in a United States Attorney position for political reasons, or if it would in any way jeopardize an ongoing serious investigation,†— Attorney General Alberto Gonzales told the Senate Judiciary Committee on January 18th.

Lots of us think you’ve made the right decision too, Dana.
Almost everyone in your ward, isn’t it? Not counting staff, that is.
March 26th, 2007 at 11:35 amJake, what’s your position on the evidence released on Friday that shows gonzo to be a liar about his involvement?
March 26th, 2007 at 11:36 am“Gonzales has repeated(sic) LIED to the American people on this.”
March 26th, 2007 at 11:37 am- – I really don’t think they consider it lying. It’s more like they’re all circle-jerking enablers.
I heard a talk this weekend where an author has written a book about how our forefathers were pretty smart. They said that if ever there was a day when both Congress and the WhiteHouse were so corrupt that they failed to do the will of the people, that there was another way to get impeachment of those in power.
The alternative path is that the states themselves can bring impeachment charges against the corrupt individuals in Washington.
If the Dem’s in Congress won’t do the right thing, maybe the states can?
In any event, if BushCo wants to play chicken with Congress, and if the Dem’s “blink”, then we still have other ways of getting at these b*st*rds.

Why don’t you let Gonzales explain himself (he is currently scheduled to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee the Tuesday after recess break)? No one has PROVEN he lied to Congress.
He had a chance to explain himself already. That’s when he lied and said he wasn’t involved in the firings. Does this ring a bell?
QUESTION: How could your chief of staff be working closely with the president on which U.S. attorneys to be let go and you not know?
GONZALES: Well, again, as — I accept responsibility for whatever happens here in this department. But I have 110,000 working in the department. Obviously, there are going to be decisions made that I’m not aware of all the time. All the decisions are delegated to people who are confirmed by the Senate, who are — by statute, have been delegated authority to make decisions.

March 26th, 2007 at 11:42 amI dug into a little more detail about Carol Lam’s firing and MZM’s contracts with the government and the gravy train into the White House. The results should lead to more reporting and FOIA requests.
Here’s my post – it has links to the three separate blanket purchase agreements that MZM was milking – instead of one that has been widely reported. One of the BPAs was the one used by the White House to pay $140,000 to MZM which ended up two weeks later in Cunningham’s hands. The $140,000 White House job was not an isolated contract as we have been led to believe – it was part of a much larger BPA already signed in May 2002.
March 26th, 2007 at 11:45 amgonzales is just the latest member of this administration who puts party above country:
“Griles, the former deputy secretary of the Department of the Interior, has pleaded guilty to obstructing the U.S. Senate’s investigation into the corruption allegations surrounding former Washington lobbyist Jack A. Abramoff.
Griles admitted that he knowingly and willfully lied and concealed material information about the relationship that he had with Abramoff.”

Sweet! Right on!!! That’s what I was looking for.
State legislators in Illinois and California have introduced resolutions (details below) to initiate impeachment proceedings against President Bush and Vice President Cheney.
The Jefferson Manual of rules for the U.S. House of Representatives allows state legislatures to initiate impeachment proceedings by submitting charges to Congress.
In Vermont, Representative David Zuckerman plans to introduce a similar resolution this week. In Pennsylvania, State Senator Jim Ferlo is collecting signatures on petitions calling for Congress to launch an impeachment inquiry.
Eleven cities and towns have already passed resolutions calling for impeachment. At 9 a.m. on May 1, Ellen Tenney, a small business owner in Rockingham, VT, will lead a delegation presenting a number of these resolutions to House Speaker Dennis Hastert at his office, 235 Cannon House Office Building, Washington, D.C.

And when he gets his story wrong then and omits important facts, he can blame it on a crappy memory again. What a wondeful thing the failed memory defense is. It’s just like a get-out-of jail-free card. It’s amazing that everyone doesn’t use that.
Police and prosecutors don’t tolerate “I forget” from petty criminals. There’s no reason we should have to put up with that bullshit from world-class crooks like Gonzales. When you’re under oath, that’s your chance to say “I forget”, not afterwards when you get caught lying. But, only if you really did forget.
March 26th, 2007 at 12:14 pmI’m thinking that maybe the Prez and Vice Prez and Chief Animal Gizzards and Other Innards Prognosticator (i.e., Rove) are thinking that if they can keep Gonzales in front of them long enough as a human shield and let him catch all the political bullets, then when they reach the exit stairwell in 2008, they can dump him and run off. After Gonzales goes, Rove and Cheney are next in line. And after them, the Prez. The clock is running and there are no time outs left.

WHAT!!! Allow me to tear your little wall down…..
- Not being attacked since 9/11 has NOTHING to do with Bush! It was 8 years between the 1993 False Flag bombing and the 2001 False Flag Attack.
- Not even close to what Clinton Created…… No where even in the vacinity of the jobs created under Clinton.
- WHAT??? 1) Lying to Congress, 2) Committing War Crimes, 3) Spying on Americans (Planned only 3 weeks after getting into office), 4) Breaking the Geneva Conventions (Torcher), 5) Not providing Habeous Corpus (SP?) to AMERICAN Citizens, 6) Committing TREASON! (He was warned about 9/11 and did nothing. AF1 was threatened using coded language, so the attack came from within the government and Bush did nothing. Meaning that he became part of the crime and COMMITTED TREASON)
- In what world do you live?? I have less money now than I had under Clinton and my lifestyle was much better under Clinton. I had extra money to spend. I make more now, but have less to spend because of the high prices of gas, food, electricity, etc.
- Poverty is on the RISE! Many VETS are on the street and living in their cars. Many forclosure families are living in their cars…..
- Killed 650,000+ Iraqis, and made MILLIONS flee their homes….. Torchered citizens that were not in any way criminals or fighters. Liberation does not come at the end of a gun moron!!!
- WRONG!!!! Killinig litterally thousands of INOCENT people. Bush deserves to be put in a fireing squad for his WAR CRIMES and have a bullet put between his eyes.

March 26th, 2007 at 1:30 pmOK Right-WINGNUTS:
AGAIN:
Bush and Cheney REFUSED TO TESTIFY UNDER OATH to the 9/11 commission, a commission they resisted forming for over a YEAR,
about their involvement with 9/11, the Bin Ladens, and the Saudi FINANCIERS OF TERRORISTS.
Then attacked Iraq.
Osama is STILL FREE 5 1/2 years later.
Bush and Cheney are EVIL CRIMINALS and TRAITORS to EVERYTHING the USA once stood for.
Harry Belafonte was RIGHT:
Bush, Cheney and the PNAC are THE BIGGEST TERRORISTS.
God Bless America and the WORLD!
BURN IN HELL, MURDERER Bush the PUNK coxucker TRAITOR to the USA…
March 26th, 2007 at 1:32 pmComment from Jake: “Gonzales (as all former U.S. Attorneys) would still be bound by the federal rules of DoJ regulations against disclosing certain info — there is still such a thing as attorney-client privilege in this country too.”
Are you saying that gonzo has an attorney-cleint privilege with bush or the country? he has not att-client privilege with bush. that is part of the problem, he still thinks he’s george’s real estate att.
March 26th, 2007 at 1:37 pmQuestion….if the Prez knew nothing about the firings the Lawyers should still be on the job, right?
March 26th, 2007 at 1:42 pmKEFA461:
The President did not know about the Dubai ports deal either, until it hit the news. I hate to break this to you, but the U.S. government is the largest employer in America — Wal*Mart is a distant 2nd with 1.1 million — unless your name was Jimmy Carter, MOST decisions made in the Executive branch never get to the Presidential level. Next question?
March 26th, 2007 at 1:53 pm81:
jake, what is your proof that mr bush didn’t know about the Dubai portst deal until it hit the news? You’re taking his word? mr “iraq has wmd” mr “mission accomplished” mr this tax cut will go overwheliming to the middle class? that guy? If you really are 75 you might want to get checked out for alzhemiers.
March 26th, 2007 at 2:00 pmAnyone else (NOT on the “Ignore List” for not answering my questions even though I answered all of their questions and/or resorting to personal attacks against me when I remain civil towards them)?
March 26th, 2007 at 2:05 pmNo one’s buying it, Shakey.
Your credibility account is overdrawn.
March 26th, 2007 at 2:14 pmGrassroots movements in many states moving toward Impeaching George W. Bush. The “impeachment express” is gathering steam and soon there will be enough pressure via each state that the Congress will no longer find impeachment “an option” but, instead, will find it to be a mandate of the american people and a “congressional responsibility.
March 26th, 2007 at 2:19 pmI believe the campaign is called “The Enemy Within: Bush/Cheney Cabal”.
March 26th, 2007 at 2:20 pmNo skin off my nose — if anyone (NOT on the “Ignore List”) posts a question from above, let me know on a newer thread and I will come back here and answer as soon as possible — as I always do if you return the same Common Courtesy.
March 26th, 2007 at 2:21 pmJake sez:
Of course not…for there to be ’skin off your nose’, you’d have to have some credibility to begin with.
(P.S.: What happened to ignoring me, sport? Sheesh, you’re bad at this… ^_^ )
March 26th, 2007 at 2:38 pmI dare ANY of you to refute the points I made about the Bush presidency.
Instead, you attack me because you can’t refut the points I made.
March 26th, 2007 at 2:52 pmJake are you stupid? You need to use ignore lists while debating politics?
March 26th, 2007 at 3:01 pmI dare ANY of you to refute the points I made about the Bush presidency.

No, we’re too busy laughing our @$$es off that your cranial rectumitis is THAT bad! May I recommend a surgical procedure? Or perhaps the jaws of life? Your ignorance is so pervasive your complete and utter rubbish is not worth our time or frustration trying to get thru to someone who has their ears covered singing ‘la la la la la la la la’.
March 26th, 2007 at 3:29 pmDoes this mean the rule of law is now officially DEAD?
…do We the People now have the right to IGNORE authority?
…and if not…
…why not…
…the Preznit and his administration (of TRAITORS)…
…serve at the pleasure of the people…
…Ever wonder WHY we NEVER see polls taken on how much of the country…
…would like to see:
IMPEACHMENT
INCARCERATION
and IMPOVERISHMENT
…for Bushiva, L’il Dick et al?
Because the TREASONOUS “terrorist”, right wing propagandist MSM…
…creates our reality…
