Gonzales ‘dashed out’ of Fitzgerald presser.

The Chicago Tribune reports:

Attorney General Alberto Gonzales dashed out of a Chicago news conference this afternoon in just two and a half minutes, ducking questions about how his office gave U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald a subpar rating.

Gonzales, who increasingly faces calls for his resignation, was here to promote a new ad campaign and had planned a 15-minute press availability. He left after taking just three questions over a firing scandal consuming his administration.

Before leaving, Gonzales said he wanted to “reassure the American people that nothing improper happened here.”

UPDATE: At yesterday’s appearance in Denver, reporters were barred from asking any questions.

Racist stereotypes about Hispanics or any other minority have absolutely no place in this or any other discussion, unless it happens to be a discussion specifically about racial stereotypes and their misuse and general offensive nature.

That said, Gonzo is quite a brave person, isn’t he? A real credit to his job and this country. I’d love to see this guy in a foxhole with the biggest coward of all, Dumbya.

If you are offended, then look within yourself to find your own weaknesses. Plus, If you knew me(which you don’t) you would be laughing with me instead of judging.

Have you gone to msnbc.com or cnn.com?

  59. Jackie Rawlings says:

Remember Fingers Foley was protecting the kids too. Gonzales was in Chicago to ask for Pat Fitzgerald’s help. Gonzales tried to interfere in the Libby case and Fitzgerald and the Judge stopped it. Gonzales wanted to get both Karl Rove and Libby off. You know which person was not on trial. Keep in mind the Seal vs Seal and don’t be surprised if that is Karl Roves charges. Gonzales as Attorney General worked in behalf of the White House interest. He needs Fitzgerald to keep quiet about what he did. Gonzales wouldn’t let officers in Texas be charged with rapping kids in their care. So that shows what he really thinks about protecting our children.

  60. Mike says:

#31, only racist comments about minorities? How about no racist comments period.

On topic, I’m really enjoying the fall of the AG and the administration with him.

Hey, Gonzo! Don’t want to meet the press? Don’t want to answer questions about Fitzgerald? Don’t want to have to make up yet another explanation for your firing the attorneys at the DOJ? Don’t have another lie prepared? Hell, even when you prepare for an interview you can’t even get your story straight. Chicken!

Get the man a break, it is probably absolutely true if you interpret the word “here” to means the spot that he was standing on at that moment. You must learn to appreciate a well constructed half-truth.

    Interesting link, mrJJ.

  67. ForTruth says:

Gonzo exhibits the classic family hero role in an alcoholic family. He achieved, made the family look good, ran interference, stayed away from the booze. But he is co-dependent, and now Bush is his new drunk father that he makes look good, runs interference, and will lie for. It makes perfect sense.

  73. ForTruth says:

More on Gonzo being the adult child of an alcoholic:

    3. Adult children lie when it would be just as easy to tell the truth.

Lying is basic to the family system affected by alcohol. It masquerades in part an overt denial of unpleasant realities, cover-ups, broken promises and inconsistencies. Lying as the norm in your house became part of what you knew and what could be useful to you. At times, it made life much more comfortable. If you lied about getting your work done, you could get away with being lazy for a while. It seemed to make life simpler for everybody
