This weekend, ThinkProgress caught up with Dennis and his wife Elizabeth Kucinich to get their thoughts on a variety of issues. Here are some highlights:
Elizabeth on health care:
I’m from Europe — wherever I travel in Europe — we can all get universal health care coverage. It’s astounding to me — as I came into this country a few years ago — to see how many people don’t have access. And all of these political strings that are attached to people, to say that’s not possible. Well, it is possible. The rest of the world does it.
Dennis on his opposition to the Iraq supplemental bill:
I have voted against each and every appropriation for the war…because it’s not plausible to say that you are for peace and that you continue to fund the war. … [The war is] moving on now with the support of a lot of good people who ought to know better. … And the fact that most Democrats bought into this — let me tell you something. I’m not afraid to take a stand.
Dennis on refusing to endorse the Fox News boycott:
I continue to challenge Fox. MoveOn’s right about a lot of things they said about Fox. But, you know, I’m a presidential candidate. I have to be ready to go into the lion’s den. I’m a vegetarian and a vegan — I mean, maybe the lion doesn’t want to eat me because I’m a vegan.

Dennis has as much chance of becoming President of the United States as I do.
March 27th, 2007 at 8:56 pmLook at him, he totally rocks. If that ain’t his daughter, he’s a deity to me.
March 27th, 2007 at 8:57 pmA TRUE PATRIOT
March 27th, 2007 at 8:59 pmIf he only had a tad of charisma!
March 27th, 2007 at 9:03 pmJoke, you are probably right, more’s the pity. I think he’d do better than you if there was a debate question whether the candidates ever joked about rape, though.
March 27th, 2007 at 9:07 pmI don’t want to sound all sexist and everything, but . . . ahem. That’s his wife?
I’m sorry, I just didn’t get that, but a little research in the Cleveland newspaper website. . . yup. And he’s a bit older than her dad.
March 27th, 2007 at 9:07 pmthats his wife??? i’m very impressed
March 27th, 2007 at 9:07 pmNice catch, Dennis. ;)
March 27th, 2007 at 9:07 pmYou know, I have to say I’ve been a little disappointed in what I have perceived as being a undue lack of support for the one candidate that is undoubtably deserving of whatever support we have to offer. For all those (and I am one) who claim to stand for peace, it is time to stand with Dennis Kucinich.
Peace!
March 27th, 2007 at 9:11 pmThank you, ThinkProgress, for extending your coverage of Presidential candidates to give Kucinich more exposure.
So far as I can tell, Kucinich is the only candidate to take a firm stand against the war, and for all the issues progressives deem important.
Because of his stand, Corporate Media has all but ignored him. Yet of all the major candidates, he is the one who progressives should learn more about and support.
Progressivism is more than a female candidate, or a black candidate. Progressivism is an idea and an ideal; the same as that which inspired the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution of the United States and the Bill of Rights.
Progressivism is empowering the people over the power of wealth and privilege. It is about equal opportunity for all, regardless of status at birth, or gender, or melanin. It is about being good stewards of this planet, so that future generations have a livable world.
Progressivism is equality. Equal justice under the law. Equal opportunities in education and in the economy. Equal in liberties and equal in respect.
As such, Progressivism is the opposite of what Conservatism has come to be.
March 27th, 2007 at 9:11 pmThink of how many dead troops would be alive and how many would not be maimed for life if a man like Dennis was the President. This country is going down a dark dark path because of the last 6 years. Handing the election to another Bush? The majority of th electorate are borderline retarded. The first Bush , a one-termer, had 10,000 times the experience then his spoiled rottened, bratty, and arogant son, the War Criminal.
How do we straighten this mess out that the War Criminal has left this country in? The idiotic electorate will probably elect another Clinton. Richardson, Biden, Dodd, and Dennis are seasoned and SMART lawmakers. All of them would make better presidents then the inexperienced Clinton, Obama, and Edwards.
Dennis and a few others like Murtha must sleep very well at night. They are doing everything they can to stop this war. It’s the rest of the wimps in both parties that won’t do what is the only right thing to do:
GETTING OUT OF IRAQ NOW
The Blood is dripping from Cheney/Bush’s hands right onto Peolosi and Reid. Cutoff the funding. Specifically state the money will only be authorized for an immediate and SAFE withdrawl.
March 27th, 2007 at 9:12 pmIf Kucinich would appear with his lovely wife more often, his poll numbers would probably skyrocket.
March 27th, 2007 at 9:16 pm#10 - Briseadh na Faire
Well said, as always.
March 27th, 2007 at 9:18 pmCompare Kucinich’s position on the war to Chuck Hagel, who will go to great lengths to criticize Bush’s handling of Iraq but adamantly refuses to cut the funding for the war, which is the surest way to end this most unnecessary occupation in Iraq. Elizabeth Kucinich is correct to point out how indefensible it is for the United States, the most industrialized country in the world, not to provide universal health for its citizens.
March 27th, 2007 at 9:19 pmGod, she’s a fox.
They have Mann Coulter, we have her.
March 27th, 2007 at 9:19 pmDennis,
You the Man!!!!

March 27th, 2007 at 9:20 pm“. For all those (and I am one) who claim to stand for peace, it is time to stand with Dennis Kucinich.”
I’ll stand with him, but that doesn’t mean I’ll vote for him. I’m for peace, but more fundamentally I’m for getting Republican lunatics out of the Executive Branch. I’ll vote for him only if he offers the best chance at that outcome, which seems unlikely.
But I’ll stand by him, for sure. About two feet to his left would be perfect, judging from the picture.
March 27th, 2007 at 9:23 pmBriseadh an Faire at #10
Your assumption about the candidates is not entirely correct, since Mike Gravel, former Congressman from Alaska, is also, besides Kucinich, in favor of immediate withdrawal of the troops from that abattoir in Iraq. The hope is that All the candidates will be heard in 2008, unlike 2000, when Ralph Nader was not allowed to present his views during the debates.
March 27th, 2007 at 9:24 pm“If Kucinich would appear with his lovely wife more often, his poll numbers would probably skyrocket.”
I know my poll skyrocketed just from watching the video.
Oh STOP IT NOW! Shameful!
March 27th, 2007 at 9:25 pmShe’s smart too.
March 27th, 2007 at 9:27 pmJerryTheAngel at #11
Well said. Kucinich is one of the very few politicians, either Democrat or Republican, who is trying to do the right thing by ending this idiotic occupation by cutting off the funding. Bring them home-safely-now,
March 27th, 2007 at 9:28 pmBlatant jealousy Jake, admit it. My only question is which of those two you’re jealous of?
March 27th, 2007 at 9:29 pmThat’s his wife? Damn. I mean DAMN!!
March 27th, 2007 at 9:29 pmWho am I supposed to be jealous of?
March 27th, 2007 at 9:31 pmDennis obviously has a pair (especially where it really counts!). The guys that get laid often are often more content in life. Those that don’t get laid often are usually belligerent bullies always trying to prove how much of a man they are by acting tough. George Bush probably hasn’t been laid since Jeff Gannon last came to the White House.
March 27th, 2007 at 9:33 pmThank you, gorn, for agreeing with my assessment of his chances : )
March 27th, 2007 at 9:34 pmI love Dennis Kucinich and I know exactly where he is coming from here but I disagree very strongly with his stance on this one.
The protest is, at least for me, against a RNC tool posing as a neutral news organization. Any candidate willing to “take on” Fox on their own terms is not being brave, he’s being stupid. He is helping Fox News reinforce their cover, regain lost credibility.
Fox acting fair and balanced on a Democratic Party debate will only serve to give their voice added credibility when they start tearing up the Democrat candidates come election time.
March 27th, 2007 at 9:34 pmIt should be noted that lions typically eat only vegans. Antelope, gazelles etc.
March 27th, 2007 at 9:36 pmyou can have your Sour Pickles, we got Tomatoes
March 27th, 2007 at 9:37 pmYes, Kucinich is the man. He’s right on with the issues, principled, and would make a great leader. But he won’t get elected. It’s not the American way. One must sell their soul to be elected president. We want an image, not a real person.
March 27th, 2007 at 9:38 pmPuppets for president, the American way.
holy Jesus, his wife’s young and HOT! you go, Denny! this is like the nerd getting the hot girl in a movie - I never believe it, but I may have to readjust that view…
March 27th, 2007 at 9:39 pmMaybe the lions don’t eat you because you look like a diseased hyena with leprosy.
March 27th, 2007 at 9:40 pmI thought they banned russian mail order brides?
March 27th, 2007 at 9:44 pmHe is the man. I was always going to pull the lever for Dennis. But after that video I think I going to “pull the lever” for his wife. Ohhh!
March 27th, 2007 at 9:44 pmmandolin at #32 does not raise the level of intelligent political discourse with his or her incredibly irrelevant and inane comment.
March 27th, 2007 at 9:46 pmDennis is NO fool. Is he.
March 27th, 2007 at 9:46 pmDennis is looking more chipper and youthful than Shrub these days. Shrub looks like he’s rotting from the inside out.
She’s from England, mandolin. At least Kucinich is not afraid of Fox News (unlike pansy John Edwards ; )
March 27th, 2007 at 9:47 pmThat’s what I said, who indeed?
March 27th, 2007 at 9:47 pmI thought they banned russian mail order brides?
Comment by mandolin
Ahhh. Did you miss out? Checked on it too late huh? You should check Romania….maybe there still in the business.
March 27th, 2007 at 9:49 pmI thought they banned russian mail order brides?
Comment by mandolin
Trouble in paradise…..?
March 27th, 2007 at 9:50 pmThere must be something about Dennis.
For a guy with a total lack of charisma, he keeps getting elected, he is principled as well as correct on all major issues, and he attracted a much more attractive partner.
He deserves more serious consideration.
March 27th, 2007 at 9:51 pm“(unlike pansy John Edwards ; )”
you civility is showing.
March 27th, 2007 at 9:55 pmDennis, you SHOULD be supporting the Fox News boycott. Maybe they don’t go after you personally, because you’re not prominent enough to be on their smear radar, but that doesn’t mean they don’t work against everything you stand for, and distort or diminish the positions of the entire progressive movement.
Having said that, I always enjoy his point of view. He’s one of the only true leftists in Congress.
One day, we’ll look back at the time when so many millions of Americans had no access to health care, and it will seem like the Dark Ages to us.
March 27th, 2007 at 9:56 pmShe’s from England, mandolin. At least Kucinich is not afraid of Fox News (unlike pansy John Edwards ; ) Comment by Jake — March 27, 2007 @ 9:47 pm
Pansy? You know Jake, homophobia is a sure sign that you’re the one that’s the *pansy*. I’m sure the gay community is more disgusted at the prospect that you are one of them, than vice versa!
March 27th, 2007 at 10:02 pmNo Dennis, FOX isn’t interested because you are a nobody.
March 27th, 2007 at 10:04 pmBush makes Mr. K look fantastic.
Bush was a disaster out of the box.
His perspective really is “you are either with us or against us.” He doesn’t understand that it is not helpful to brand countries as “evil” unless you are going to go to war with them. It was not helpful to call Iran and North Korea “evil” and then leave them alone to ratchet up their nuclear programs. On the other hand, he relatively ignores other countries which pose the gravest threat to us, like Pakistan. Pakistan is harboring al Qaeda in the north. Instead of chasing them down and destroying them in Pakistan, Bush ran right off and attacked another random dictatorship in Iraq.
Bush also routinely makes incredibly idiotic statements and judgments. The one that comes most to mind is his statement that he looked Putin in the eye and saw a man he could trust! Hah! I know flattery will get you everywhere, but totally over the top flattery makes you look like a fool.
Bush also took way way way too long to understand that it is okay to make deals with bad countries. The only question is whether you will be better off in the end. If the other side cheats a bit but the arrangement still benefits you, then it’s a good deal. If it doesn’t, then it’s a bad deal.
Lastly, Bush failed to understand the importance of maintaining America’s symbol as a force for good in the world. We lost the higher ground in the fight for the hearts and minds of millions of Muslims when Bush opened the floodgates to rendition and torture.
At the end of the day the proof is in the pudding. Our policies are failing everywhere. We have spent all that money and all those lives only to see our situation grow worse. There is only so long you can blame everyone else but yourself. And despite the media blitz from Fox in support of the White House, which even includes the White House chief spokesperson Tony Snowjob, America is waking up to the incompetence of the Republicans.
To make matters worse, it appears that Republicans have broken the law in several ways. They deserve nothing more than to be held strictly accountable to the rule of law. After all, it was President Bush in his most recent state of the union address who said upholding the rule of law in Iraq was our number one goal there.
March 27th, 2007 at 10:07 pmJake is one of “those” christians. He’s swallowed his share of sacrements at ted haggart’s church.
March 27th, 2007 at 10:09 pmEvery flake deserves a little bit of coverage. Bah. Spend efforts on what will work, rather than on someone who nearly bankrupted a major city.
Great management, that.
BC
March 27th, 2007 at 10:15 pmROTFL!!!
March 27th, 2007 at 10:18 pmTo each his own. You can keep this guy. A little to crazy of center for me.
March 27th, 2007 at 10:19 pmNo way. No way that dude landed her. Not possible. He couldn’t made the kind of money as mayor it takes for a guy like him to bad a chick like her.
March 27th, 2007 at 10:43 pmDemocrats who cooperate with the Fox Propagandists…
…are irresponsible…
March 27th, 2007 at 10:49 pmKucinich is a good guy, but I think he’s a joke as a presidential candidate. And I have some legitimate issues with him as well. I read a blog by Kos which pointed out that he changed his position on women’s reproductive rights practically over night just before he decided to run the last time. And I also think it is idiotic every time a Democrat goes on Fox. Fox is not a news network. They should be treated as though they are the National Enquirer… in fact, I would do an interview with the National Enquirer before I did one with Fox, as I have more respect for the N.E. as they don’t attempt to hide what they are and how they operate.
If Kucinich insists on running, so be it, this is still a Democracy so we might as well cherish that while it lasts… I just wish he’d step aside and take on a more useful role if he can figure that out.
In the meantime… I’m keeping my fingers crossed that President Gore will win the Nobel for his work in the area of global climate change, and that he will use all the PR capital he has gathered over the last couple of years and make a push to be re-elected President of the United States, with either Senator Obama or Senator Edwards as his VP. I believe either of those combinations would not only be un-beatable, but be the best people at the right time for our nation.
Gore/Obama!
Gore/Edwards!
Lets do this!
March 27th, 2007 at 11:08 pmThis guy is amazing- as are his clear, articulated views. I would love to see him come out of the primaries. If anyone speaks truth to power, it’s this man.
March 27th, 2007 at 11:10 pmThat is Mrs. Kucinich? That guy has to be hung.
March 27th, 2007 at 11:40 pmWho am I supposed to be jealous of?
Everybody, Jake, everybody.
March 27th, 2007 at 11:42 pmLet’s all start posting as Jake. It’ll be fun!
As for DK, ya’ gotta watch out for those small unassuming looking dudes - they’ll open up a can of whoop ass on ya’ in a heartbeat, and with such a world-class beauty of a wife, you can bet he’s packin’.
All in all, I think he stands out in the crowd for his principled stands.
March 27th, 2007 at 11:43 pmNo way. No way that dude landed her. Not possible. He couldn’t made the kind of money as mayor it takes for a guy like him to bad a chick like her.
Maybe she is into honest, nice guys. I know it is rare but it happens. Honestly, he is not the most attractive guy in the world but what does “a guy like him” mean? An intelligent, honest, honorable man? Yeah, guess so.
March 27th, 2007 at 11:45 pm#57 No thanks. I would prefer to reply to the real Jake, jackoff.
March 27th, 2007 at 11:46 pmDang! Some guys have all the Luck!! Good on ya Dennis!!
March 28th, 2007 at 12:09 amKucinich is much more interesting and smart than the media has been giving him credit for.
March 28th, 2007 at 12:18 amI do have to say DK annoyed me when he bashed Dems for not having a Fox debate. Is he kidding? He would have been the biggest victim!!
March 28th, 2007 at 12:20 amhe lost my vote.
March 28th, 2007 at 12:26 amIt is interesting how much attention the fact Dennis has a very attractive and of course intelligence is generating. It’s true people tend to judge men more favorably when they have attractive partners, but in some cases indeed the passion of a personality does help to attract women; Dennis is just about the boldest politician out there right now–he’s not intimidated and he speaks out without getting a hoof in his mouth like Biden or Kerry. I sort of think who needs Nader running when there’s Kucinich, though I don’t see him getting popular appeal because people tend to think of him as so far left. He’s intense and not “hip,” which can seem weird to people. His wife knows better, but then she’s European; it seems European women can have more depth than American women. I was told long ago that often “foreign” women appreciate American men more than American women do. How about all these unproven generalizations eh? I bet Kucinich will put up an impeachment bill.
March 28th, 2007 at 12:34 amWell, as I documented the other day, taxes on the middle class in England are over 47%. So if you want to propose raising taxes on the middle class to 47.9%, good luck to ya.
Its report reveals how middle income earners are paying more tax as a proportion of their disposable income.
A household receiving £28,000 a year in disposable income pays 47.9 per cent of that in tax, while earners in the top income bracket pay 46.9 per cent.
The report says: “Middle income groups - benefiting from neither tax credits nor upper income tax allowances - have the highest effective tax burden. Better-off people are able to access better services, crucially including education.”
March 28th, 2007 at 12:35 am#65 Good documenting muckdog!!! It doesn’t make your post any less pointless.
March 28th, 2007 at 12:40 amComment by Abby — March 27, 2007 @ 9:34 pm
While I usually agree with you, Abby, I beg to differ on this one. I know this also puts me at odds with nearly everyone here, but I heard a comment the other day on Air America that I feel is correct.
Think back to Clinton’s appearance on Fox. He totally trashed Wallace. You’ll never convince the average Fox watcher…they’re like the mindless trolls we see here. But you will show others that you can handle yourself in a hostile, confrontational situation.
March 28th, 2007 at 12:43 amThat piece of ass is Kucinich’s wife? Holy shit, that little bugger must be hiding a horse cock in his trousers. You go Dennis, my man!
March 28th, 2007 at 1:04 amWell, as I documented the other day, taxes on the middle class in England are over 47%. So if you want to propose raising taxes on the middle class to 47.9%, good luck to ya.
Craphound - I would say taxation in the UK (the technical term for ‘England’ - accepted in most places), is the business of the British and nothing to do with you. Your biased example fails to recognize the tax burden which has been removed from the top 1% of US incomes….one dollar, one vote…. check Jefferson and his opinions of non-progressive taxation….
March 28th, 2007 at 1:07 amRepresentative Dennis Kucinich WON’T BE EATEN BY THE LIONS, BECAUSE Dennis, LIKE Daniel WORSHIPS THE ONE TRUE GOD, i.e., TRUTH AND HONESTY IN POLITICS WHILE CHIMPya and Bushland Uber Allies WORSHIP THE MYRIAD GODS LIKE GREED, ANGER, SLOTH, MENDACITY, CARELESSNESS, NARCISSISM, HATRED, CRIMINALITY, LAWLESSNESS, MURDER, SLAUGHTER, VICIOUSNESS, GOLD, MONEY, and worse, POWER, UNANSWERABILITY, SELF-IMPORTANCE, DELUDEDNESS, INSTABILITY, HYPOCRISY, LYING and WORST of all, PURE DEMONIC EVIL—–SO THEREFORE GOD OR AN OMNIPOTENT SPIRITUAL FORCE, WOULD PROTECT Dennis AGAINST GETTING EATEN FOR HIS VIRTUOUSNESS AND STEADFAST GOODNESS WHEREAS CHIMPya and Bushland Uber Allies WOULD HAVE TO BE COLLECTED IN COFFIN-CASKETS PUSHED INTO THE DEN WITH LONG POLES SO THAT THE COFFIN-CASKETS ARE POSITIONED AS TOILETS FOR THE LIONS TO DEFECATE CHIMPya and Bushland Uber Allies REMAINS INTO THEM COFFIN-CASKETS!!!!! HAH HAH HAH HAH HAH!!!!! HAH!
March 28th, 2007 at 1:09 amIs it a sign of American, or human culture, that a smart leader like Kucinich gets as many comments about his policies, as he does about his attractive wife?
March 28th, 2007 at 2:09 am#70 Well, honestly, I was surprised he had a hot wife. It was pretty refreshing, really.
March 28th, 2007 at 2:14 amYa gotta love Dennis. It’s important for him to run, as long as he doesn’t turn into a Ralph Nader.
March 28th, 2007 at 3:25 amSo far as I can tell, Kucinich is the only candidate to take a firm stand against the war, and for all the issues progressives deem important.” –Briseadh na Faire
What trype. Kucinich has more of a ‘firm stand’ against the war?
Dennis, we’ve met Rep. Barbara Lee, and you ain’t her.
And then there is Nancy Pelosi, who became the youngest minority leader in the history of the United States because of her leadership of SIXTY PERCENT of the Dem caucus in opposing the Iraq Resolution.
Kucinich would like to take all the bows, the Narcissist. He lands a babe, and naturally America applauds. But the people who will actually stop the war can’t just bow for the cameras and affect a purism that is BS in DC.
Saint Kucinich the Vegan is not the virgin he claims to be. His contract with FOX speaks volumes.
March 28th, 2007 at 4:22 amWell principled, firm, direct, intelligent. Makings of a President.
March 28th, 2007 at 8:34 amKucinich On Fox News: ‘Maybe The Lion Doesn’t Want To Eat Me Because I’m A Vegan’
I didn’t know he’s Vegan. Cool. We deserve some representation. Not as Vegans, but as people who oppose the way food animals are mistreated by Corporate Framing Institutions in this country - and what that then does to contribute to the fact that the United States is the sickest Industrialized Nation in the world.
If you’re going to eat meat - insist that it is treated humanely - both for the sake of the life that is nourishing you, and for your own good health.
Now if we could also get an Atheist in the mix… :)
March 28th, 2007 at 8:46 amThe sexist comments from the Progressives here is a bit surprising…
Come on guys - it’s one thing to notice that he’s got a beautiful wife, but it’s another to make horny jokes about her looks, when obviously she’s more than that. It’s this sort of response that fuels the Feminist Movement. To remind people that a woman is much more than how much a man wants to ‘do’ her…
Please just think about how you’d like someone to speak about your wife, sister or daughter before you comment… Thanks
March 28th, 2007 at 8:52 amKuncinch for president!!! Not him - his WIFE!
Not really, but it does go to show you only have to be intelligent and principled to be attractive to beautiful women.
Dennis is probably the best person we could have as a president. Unfortunately it won’t happen. Americans are just too ignorant and shallow to do anything but follow the dictates of the same. One only has to look at bush, who has to be the polar opposite to Dennis, and America elected this ignorant and unprincipled of men TWICE!
March 28th, 2007 at 9:23 amI wouldn’t mind me a piece of that ass!
March 28th, 2007 at 9:56 amI am surprised at the comments about Dennis’s wife - their story is a touching love story, and they are two of the most caring and committed people I’ve heard of.
What a sad, cynical age we live in!
March 28th, 2007 at 10:02 amRep. Dennis Kucinich is the only person running for president that voted against the Iraq war powers act:
Dennis Kucinich 3.25.07
Four years ago Congress was told we have no alternative but to go to war. That was wrong. Now Congress is telling the American people we have no alternative but to continue the war and that by continuing the war for just another year or two, we will then be able to end the war. War equals peace? I don’t think so.
…I believe you cannot say that you are for peace and vote to keep this war going. … You cannot say you are for peace and give the President enough money not just to keep this war going, but to attack Iran if he so chooses.
March 28th, 2007 at 10:41 amI have a new found respect for a man with a babe like that…go Dennis.
March 28th, 2007 at 10:41 amIn the fall of 2002, when Congress was considering the act that gave President Bush war powers in Iraq, Kucinich handed out to his fellow congressmen an analysis of the bill that time has largely proved correct:
“This language is so broad that it would allow the President to order an attack against Iraq even when there is no material threat to the United States.â€
“A unilateral attack on Iraq by the United States will cause instability and chaos in the region and sow the seeds of future conflicts all over the world.â€
“Unilateral action against Iraq will cost the United States the support of the world community, adversely affecting the war on terrorism.â€
“There is no credible evidence that Iraq possesses weapons of mass destruction.â€
“There is no connection between Iraq and the events of 9/11.â€
March 28th, 2007 at 10:43 am#83 Thanks for sharing. This speaks volumes of Mr. Kucinich’s intuitive nature.
#11 “The majority of the electorate are borderline retarded.â€
Retarded is a label that is degrading and demeaning. However, those who voted for bushwhacked have obviously never investigated or analyzed anything in all their days, but live and conduct their lives with a very primitive fear and pack mentality. Otherwise, surely they would not have voted in a pres who invades and destroys a country to give no bid contracts to his vice-president’s company and other oil cronies murdering hundreds of thousands in the process!! Or perhaps they actually believed it was quite permissible to do so?
It’s heartening to see Mr. Kucinich address the fact that the Iraqi people are the ones that should be reconstructing their own country! What a novel idea and a good first step in being hated less.
It’s disheartening to see all the sexist rhetoric concerning his wife! Even though there is anonymity here, unfortunately, we are what we think. Let us all aspire to a higher level.
March 28th, 2007 at 11:43 amWho am I supposed to be jealous of?

Probably everyone with a three digit IQ!!:D
March 28th, 2007 at 12:12 pmIt’s this sort of response that fuels the Feminist Movement. To remind people that a woman is much more than how much a man wants to ‘do’ her…
Please just think about how you’d like someone to speak about your wife, sister or daughter before you comment… Thanks
Comment by unbelievable - the butch athiest
March 28th, 2007 at 12:38 pmI like Dennis Kucinich - I think he is an honest person with strong convictions. Would I vote for him? Not on your life! Two suggestions for Dennis: explain to your European wife that everyone has access to health care in the US - not everyone has health INSURANCE, and, you might want to have a thick juicy steak every once in a while - you wouldn’t look like such an anemic little vegan.
March 28th, 2007 at 12:40 pm“The sexist comments from the Progressives here is a bit surprising…”
Oh, lighten up a little. Nothing wrong with a little fun innuendo based on a perfectly understandable assessment of the physical pairing.
(Although I agree the shift from fun innuendo, to outright crudity, is unfortunate.)
Both Mr. & Mrs. K obviously have more assets than meets the eye. Good for them.
March 28th, 2007 at 12:44 pmSorry Dennis, being a vegan means that if you were the lion, you wouldn’t eat you. But you’re not. You’re you, and the lion is the lion, and the lion will chew you up as its hunger dictates.
March 28th, 2007 at 3:29 pmI analyzed one of the last debates Fox co-sponsored and it isn’t because he’s a vegan that the lion (why a lion and not a fox?) doesn’t want to eat him.
They simply consider him irrelevant.
In that debate, they made Lieberman look the best, but also played mostly nice with Kerry and Edwards. They took down Clark and Dean.
And Kucinich they just used as a vehicle toward getting their talking points into his questions. They didn’t give a damn what he had to say.
And maybe, with a super duper Tuesday looming over us, the rest of us shouldn’t give a damn, either. Do we really want a convention framed by Kucinich deciding where he’s going to bestow his 2% of the Democratic primary vote?

I hate to break your teeny tiny heart - but not only am I straight, I also have long hair, wear make-up, love Porject Runway and occasionally read Vogue…
But just because I’m feminine doesn’t mean I have to tolerate shallow assessments about any woman.
Go cry now…
March 28th, 2007 at 6:17 pmShe’s twice as old as Kucinich? I sure hope third time is a charm.
March 28th, 2007 at 6:28 pmOh, lighten up a little.
I don’t say this to many people - but f u c k you, insensitive prick who doesn’t understand how hard it is to be a woman in our patriarchal culture. Your insensitivity is disgusting.
I asked nicely - but if you can’t handle that and respect all women, then you aren’t much of a progressive.
Nothing wrong with a little fun innuendo based on a perfectly understandable assessment of the physical pairing
As a woman who has lived from experience (dealing with these kinds of insults, men so rude as to stare at your breasts while you’re trying to give a serious business opinion, and general sexism), I have a right to be annoyed. And you don’t have the right to tell me to lighten up about such a sensitive subject for women. Do you tell blacks to lighten up about hanging jokes? Gays to lighten up about dragging behind a pick up jokes? Hmmm? Well, it’s no different to those of us who have labored to gain equality for women in this country, but are still seen as just a semen recepticle because we were born with a nice rack.

If you agree, then don’t be patronizing to me and dismissive of my outrage at reducing an obviously intelligent woman to nothing more than a trophy of genitalia. Many women have worked hard to be taken seriously, seen for their intellect, and given equal opportunity. Your initial attitude only encourages these kinds of comments and defeats our efforts to be equals.
March 28th, 2007 at 6:29 pmyou wouldn’t look like such an anemic little vegan.

Maybe he should eat you. After all, you are a cow.

You forgot something ……..
“WAAAaaaaggggghhhhh,
I am victim, hear me whine,
I’ve had it better than at any other time…
Thank God I didn’t live hundreds of years ago….”
Thank you for illustrating what “castrating” feminists look like……No wonder you can’t get a date…..
March 28th, 2007 at 6:54 pmConsidering that we seldom see a photo of a stunning young woman here on TP, I wasn’t so surprised that there were many comments on Mrs. Kuchinich’s looks. However, I have to agree with “unbelievable” that ignoring the fact that this young woman is well educated and only seeing her as a “piece of a==” is sexist.
March 28th, 2007 at 6:59 pmMy own first reaction to seeing the photo with the combination of the Fox News headline was to think that maybe she was a Fox reporter/commentator. She has certainly outfoxed in both looks and intelligence the bimbos who actually appear on Faux News.
Oh, and Flakehead, before you make a similar accusation to the one about “unbelievable” #86, let me say that I am married to a man and am often told that I look like Ann Margaret or Katherine Ross when they were younger.
She’s twice as old as Kucinich? I sure hope third time is a charm.

Are you joking, or did you mean to write “twice as young?”
March 28th, 2007 at 7:00 pm#97
How about half his age.
March 28th, 2007 at 7:03 pm#96 - Thank you for clarifying, “I am married…..to a man,”. You must be from Massachusetts, where such clarification is necessary.

No, I’m from California–not Massachusetts.

That’s tooo bad……
March 28th, 2007 at 7:36 pmAfter listening to that interview maybe Elizabeth Kucinich would be kind enough to talk Dennis into moving to the UK, become a British citizen, and start a new political career there. He would fit in much better. BTW I thought Bush was pretty arrogant, but Dennis takes the prize.
March 28th, 2007 at 7:43 pmNice suggestion, Tracy - - but if Mr. & Mrs. Kucinich moved to the UK, think of the comic relief we’d miss……
March 28th, 2007 at 7:50 pm#103
Yes the British are notorious for looking down their noses at other people which is why I thought Dennis Kucinich would be a great fit over in the UK.

Don’t worry, venomous venus. It’s a big state, and I’m not from your beloved San Diego.

I’m amazed that you have admitted finding something wrong with Bush.

Thank God!!!……..OK, kids….. it’s safe to go out and play now…
March 28th, 2007 at 8:32 pmLet’s see, Dennis is for:
- “negotiating” and compromising with barbarians,
- rationing health care,
- expanding entitlement programs.
- heaping more taxes on the “evil” rich.
I don’t understand why he doesn’t have the lead among Dem primary voters in the polls? He sounds like a perfect candidate for the Prog movement….

Going out to play is indeed what suits an immature person like you best. And for all your BS talk about a military experience, you must be quite a coward if you think a petite woman with no criminal record is a threat to you.

I have mention to you in posts that were addressed to you that I have problems with Bush in various aspects. I know I have mentioned to you that I think Bush has handled the post invasion of Iraq badly.

March 29th, 2007 at 6:53 pmSorry: now I do recall a bit of criticism from you of Bush. But my overall impression is of your various defenses of him.
