It’s not about a gun. From his press conference today:
We do have an amendment on Iran coming up over the next couple of days. It’s something that I have worked on for a good bit of time. I hope in all of the attention that’s been given to the situation with my staff, we don’t lose sight of the importance of that legislation. And secondly, the other piece of legislation that I have been working on with Senator Hagel, which will come to a vote over the next two days. Those are both important pieces of legislation, and please, let’s not forget that.
Webb’s Iran bill would prevent President Bush from launching a war without explicit congressional approval. His Iraq bill with Hagel focuses on “redeployment, training and equipment.” He’s right, those are important bills.

So far he is handling it okay but he better remain open and transparent if he wants to ensure that it does not detract from the much more important issues that he is championing.
I do find myself wondering why a senator would be carrying around a hand gun and I am curious how common a practice it is amongst the group as a whole. If it were the other way around (ie; a Republican), I’m virtually certain that he would be chastised here and defended by party affiliates using the 2nd amendment and all. Let’s be balanced.

Both Webb and Hagel had better hope that their bill becomes law very soon, because with two strike groups and more than 100 U.S. warplanes ready to conduct simulated air warfare in the Gulf shipping lanes, it would not be too surprising to read that Bush will order those planes to attack Tehran in April, causing thousands upon thousands of innocent Iranians to feel the wrath of the United States once again in the Middle East. Even if this bill does pass fairly soon, it is no guarantee that the Boy Emperor will not simply ignore the wishes of Congress by bombing the hell out of the Iranian people.

In fact, I think you should make sure that every republican candidate consistently discusses the need to attack and invade Iran in every campaign speech. I think many on this site can attest to my views… I am an athiest that believes in the truths Jesus spoke and all other truths that can be found such as in Zen. No one is scary except those that are willing to replace reason with dogma whether it be religious, political, or otherwise. Religious people have proven beyond a shadow of a doubt they will murder millions for dogma.

How many soldiers would it take to occupy Iran. Remember, we don’t want to follow the failed military venture in Iraq. I’m guessing 600,000 troops so we don’t allow freedom to get too messy. We’d have to increase troops in both Iraq and Afghanistan so the flow of insurgents can be stopped. We’ll put those troops in the neighborhood of 400,000. Now we can’t just let the rest of the world go without our guidance so another 300,000 troops to make sure freedom keeps ringing.
Now how do we pay for all of this? How do we support all of this? How do we get the country behind all of this?

Also, as far as I know it would all begin wit air strikes, more likely from Israel before it comes from us. Then we would probably see if Iran is willing to back off. But once again, this is pure expeculation of my part. I am not a general or a military planner. You aren’t either so you are pulling stuff from your behind, right? let the experts do their job.

After he said wipe Israel off the map a few times he started getting lambasted about it and he came out and said that elements in the west were trying to twist his meaning which was that he thought we would see Israel the zionists jewish only state go the same route as the USSR and no longer be the jewish state…
