Doan cracks under tough questioning.

Nitpicker: “Listening into the live webcast of the GSA hearings just now, the camera was down, but the audio was still up and you could here GSA Administrator Lurita Doan griping about the investigation and telling one of her people to take her glass, cause she doesn’t want ‘them to have my fingerprints. They’ve got me totally paranoid!‘ Hilarious.” (Via Atrios)

i haven't been watching it, but i wonder if anyone asked her if she could summarize the provisions of the hatch act...

And, yes, I DO take it personally

  2. Badmoodman Says:

Where's Buffalo Springfield when you need them?

  3. legaleze Says:

That is hilarious! The truth will out!

  4. s Says:

Doesn't she think she's the cute one now. She thinks her smelly neocon wit can get her out of this scrape. Fraid not.
She's despicable. Obviously thinks of her questioners as some sort of monsters after her precious finger prints.....when guess who the real monster is...........spoiled brat.

  5. GSD Says:

    Criminals.......RICO them all.

    -GSD

  6. oldtree Says:

Poor thing having to submit to the inquisition like this. It must give her the vapors. She should begin planning her emigration to another country, or plan on her little time out for federal crimes that she admitted to in this testimony. I do hesitate to call what she did testimony, but for the fact that it will be notable at her next visit when she is accused of today's lies.
is there anyone in this government that is not absolutely corrupt? We have seen republican US Attorneys look good for getting mad about their job performance description and future resume. But did these people care about the known obstruction of justice enough to inform the FBI and Congress when it happened? HELL NO

I am not impressed by anyone that kept crimes secret for fear of the revelation on their ability to work. I will be impressed with investigations that have been started by the FBI and Congress about the violations reported by these same US Attorneys. I wonder if we have any instances of that to be proud of?

  7. s Says:

Her ego and the traitors she's been cozying up to for 6 years have something in common. Arrogance, dishonesty, and intolerance. What a bunch of total losers

  8. hellinabucket Says:

Don't want them to have my fingerprints? Does she have a security clearance? If so, they already do. She is paranoid. But why should she have anything to worry about. Exley says she's fine. Maybe she knows something Exley doesn't.

  9. Badmoodman Says:

Maybe Doan thinks she can win the inquisitors over with her Fawn Hallinality.

  10. Keith H. Says:

She seems to be suffering from a chronic case of the 'I can't remembers' .

  11. Zimzone Says:

Doan unto others as you would have them Doan unto you.

    You're screwed.
Now your only hope is if Daryll gives you salvation. (He thinks you're cute.)

Daryll, did you see the video? (Guess he was just kidding.)

  12. RUCerious Says:

Perhaps God doesn't want her to remember, it would be too painful for her, so he has mercifully erased all those bad memories of illegal shit.

  13. Tuber Says:

This is interesting, but only in the same context that a train wreck is “interesting”. Blood, guts, mangled wreckage, and the body counts of victims. But in the end, it is just macabre theatre diverting attention and focus from the more heinous and dire crimes that we, as a nation, are directly responsible for or complicit in through our feigned ignorance and apathy.

We are 4 years into a “war” that we were deceived and misled into engaging in against an innocent citizenry with over 600,000 murdered to date and countless injured and maimed. Some called the bullsh*t from the beginning. Others became wise to it soon after the start. Yet the murder, mayhem, rape, and violent oppression continue to this day because we just cannot figure out how to stop pulling the trigger. Shame on each and every one of us.

Then there is the morally criminal torture and imprisonment of foreigners and our own citizens that continues unabated. I can only say “morally criminal” because we made it LEGAL through the MCA. Nobody talks about this at all anymore which is as reprehensible as the act itself.

We allow spying on our own citizens, ALL of them. We allow war profiteers to not only steal from us, but also our unborn children and grand children. We accept deception and corruption as being just part of the political game. We allow for our own family, neighbors, and friends to be exploited and used as tools of oppression. Some at the cost of their very lives. Others at the cost of their mental well being, their happiness, their souls.

We are standing on the precipice of starting another monumental act of murder and every crime against humanity imaginable against Iran. Many don’t care in the least because of their racism and bigotry. Most don’t concern themselves with it because they believe that we would never attack an innocent country, murder innocent people, and engage in genocide. How anyone can believe such with the Iraq atrocity continuing even as we speak cannot be dismissed as just inbred ignorance, but it is criminal negligence.

Are we going to continue to entertain ourselves with trite political theatre while the blood flows like rivers and our soul becomes so black that the light of a thousand suns would not be able to illuminate it in the least? Are we going to continue to allow our worries about mortgages, car payments, or what version of the iPod to buy to outweigh our moral obligation not just to our society and constitution, but to humanity as a whole? If you are blessed enough to have a child, then look into their eyes and tell them now that you threw away their future and their very life because you were afraid that you might not be able to pay the cable bill.

We are running out of time, my fellow Americans. The situation is no longer urgent, it is dire.

For those of you who wish to continue in complacent and arrogant ignorance, here is your news:
    - Heather Mills leg did not fly off
    - McCain is still a liar and a thief
    - Two “important” Americans have the same affliction that hundreds of thousands of lesser Americans do, cancer.
    - North Dakota regained the world record for generating the most simultaneous snow angels.

  14. Ben Dover Says:

I wonder what she is so afraid of that she's worried about finger prints?? What ELSE is she hiding. Don't you just love having adults running the show again!

  15. Katie Says:

That's the problem with lying. You have to remember what you said so that you can keep the lie going. And then you get paranoid because you realize how easy it will be for them to trip you up and catch you in a lie.

  16. Robert Says:

Interesting 2000 article on Doan from Business Week:

    http://www.businessweek.com/smallbiz/0005/ma000502.htm

A beltway bandit turned GSA director - not a path to good government.

  17. Katie Says:

"I will be impressed with investigations that have been started by the FBI..."

Isn't that kind of like having the fox guard the henhouse? This FBI is just as corrupt as the Bush administration so any "investigation" they would do would be highly suspect.

  18. Exley Says:

    HellinaBucket,

Well, I was not quite that absolute in my pronouncement. I merely said that given the language of Section 7324 of the Hatch Act, it appeared at first glance she did nothing improper.

  19. OxyCon Says:

It's a good thing Loyal Bushie Doan hsan't found our mesquito-cams yet.

  20. the grammar nazi Says:

"you could here GSA Administrator Lurita Doan "

    'Here' should be spelled 'hear'.

  21. RUCerious Says:

grammar nazi ~ are you anything like the "soup nazi" in Seinfeld?

  22. hellinabucket Says:

At first glance isn't the rationale to back a person Exley. Innocent until proven guilty is the law of the land and she hasn't been proven guilty of anything as of now. I wouldn't put money on it though.

  23. Ramon Suarez Says:

I think it horrible how these white Congressmen are coming down hard on this woman. They just hate the fact that a black female can have some power in DC. Waxman and the rest of the Dems are RACIST for attacking her.

Actually you *did* pronounce, but you gave yourself weasel room as is often the case. Then again, what else should we expect from a GOP weasel?

  25. tom baker Says:

yes, poor, poor Ms Doan......the ardor and candor of her inquisitors may result in a case of the vapors....oh my, oh my......

that poor poor dear - maybe she should've considered the consequences of whoring out her job to do the dirty work of the dirty pigs in the RNC!!!!!!

she can do her time in the regular lockup, for all i care.

So, now coming down on somebody hard is racism. Wow, talk about allowing political correctness getting out of hand. Give me a friggin' break.

You people are only sensitive when it is one of you on the witness stand.

  27. Suzee Says:

It was great to see the Republicans lose their cool-at that hearing. but Henry Waxman put them in their place like he laways does. Bravo Henry!!!!!!!!

  28. Exley Says:

    VVGFU,

Are you referring to the discussion of the Hatch Act on the other thread in which you completely misread and misunderstood the wording of the statute and I had to correct you...again.

Is that to what you are referring?

  29. ForTruth Says:

For all intents and purposes, she is white.

  30. Marie Says:

I can't believe the Repugs here who think that the Dems are hard on Doan because she's a black woman!!
Of all groups who disrespect not only women, but blacks as well, that is the height of hypocrisy from a repug.
Dems are hard on people who are corrupt - it makes no difference which gender or color -- unlike Repugs who circle the wagons around one of their own party regardless of the criminality involved.

  31. Marie Says:

I saw the video, and I didn't even realize she is black, but I wasn't looking for that.

BAHAHAHA, ironic coming from *you*!!!! You posted content, I responded to your content. Don't blame me because you incorrectly posted information out of context. That's your fault - incompetent boy!

  33. Exley Says:

Heh! Nice try, VVGFU! I posted the exact language of the statute and you completely misread and misunderstood it. But I was happy to correct your mistake, junior.

  34. Raymond Funamoto Says:

Doan YOU FRET NOW, Lurita, THE MEN IN THE WHITE COATS ARE COMING FOR YA NOW!!!!! YOU'LL SOON BE ABLE TO RELAX IN YOUR PADDED CELL AND WEAVE LOTS AND LOTS OF LITTLE BASKETS....HAH HAH HAH HAH HAH!!!!!!

  35. John Ebert Says:

Absolutely despicable. Blatent liar. This woman will eventually go down in flames with the rest of this pathetic administration. Kudos to Rep. Braley. He'd do Perry Mason proud!

    Comment by Ramon Suarez — March 28, 2007 @ 3:39 pm

Okay, Ramon, what about the firing of the even darker-skinned Bunnatine Greenhouse by this administration after she did her job and complained about the irregularities in awarding no-bid contracts to Halliburton?
To provide you with some food for thought, I have taken the following from wikipedia:
`A long-time government employee, Greenhouse was hired by Lieutenant General Joe Ballard in 1997 to oversee contracts at the Army Corps of Engineers. After Ballard retired in 2000, Greenhouse's performance reviews, which had been exemplary throughout her public career, suddenly soured. Greenhouse filed an Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) complaint alleging race and gender discrimination, which her attorney states has never been investigated. In August 2005, she was demoted in what her lawyer called an "obvious reprisal" for her revelations about the Halliburton contracts.'

The light-skinned Lurita Doan wasn't severely questioned because of her race but because her memory seems to have been blackened out!

Or you misrepresented, and posted out of context points. But I was happy to correct your mistake, junior. You're a obnoxious little piece of sh*t, aren't you junior?

  38. Will Says:

Racism my ass. She was lying through her teeth at that hearing. I watched it, saw her through the entire thing, and had no idea she was even a black woman, until I googled her. Her body language suggested total deceit, as well and intolerance towards the panel of representatives -- PEOPLE WHO REPRESENT THE ENTIRE US NATION, and she seemed to display a total lack of respect for them and the nation.

  39. Doan's Little Pill Says:

I have turned over Lurita’s eyeglasses and drinking glass in a plastic bag to the left-wing of the FBI. Hopefully, they will match her fingerprints to bullet casings found in Dallas, 1963.

Ask not what your paranoia can do to you , but what you can do to your paranoia.
