Anti-contraception family-planning appointee resigns.

Eric Keroack, appointed in November by President Bush to oversee federal family planning programs, has resigned. Keroack was a nationally known advocate of abstinence until marriage who had worked for a Christian pregnancy counseling group that opposes contraception. Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards responded, “It’s a good day for women’s health. … The Bush administration must replace Keroack with a legitimate, mainstream public health expert who supports family planning and access to birth control.”

UPDATE: Ann at Feministing has more on Keroack’s ethics problems.

    Answer to Bush Veto:

After all, Bush vetoed (coming soon) the bill to fund them (and protect them while they’re in harm (sic) way), so if bush doesn’t want to fund them, we’d better bring them home right now… and here’s the money to do so.

    What do you think?

So now you’re a sociologist? So, tell us, how many? Which ones?

And, while we’re at it: How many problems does marriage create in our society?

Would you like to go back to early Christian times, when children got married (an arranged marriage by their parents, by the way) soon after puberty?

Would you like to see junior high school children entering into Holy Matrimony for the rest of their natural lives?

Without the opportunity for divorce, except in the case of adultery?

How many problems would that create, in our society?

Doesn’t that make God pretty incompetent if he took almost 2000 years to reach the Americans, while millions died in sin and were condemned to *hell*? Pretty unchristian of god – don’t you think?

If god was so intent on humanity knowing his gifts, why were the millions of new world inhabitants unaware of Noah, or his *teachings*? Pretty obscene of God to condemn the world, just because he wouldn’t teach them.

Then again, the *ideas* of you right wingnut religious Taliban type always break down under *reason*. That’s why you hate separation of church and state, and democracy. Too much *liberalism* that breeds people that can think for themselves. I want to support something that will help eventually get us there, knowing it won’t/can’t happen now.

No, you asked a hypothetical question, if you only want answers that you agree with then it’s not hypothetical. HIV won’t be cured by not having sex. It will be cured thru science just as polio was. You may as well say cancer will be cured thru not having sex before marriage.

Not exactly. Somebody with a compromised immune system could get bit by a chimp and pass it on to their spouse. But the premise of your post is so ridiculous Mark Twain was probably thinking of somebody like you:

“Such is the human condition that often it seems a shame that Noah didn’t miss the boat.”

Notice how Jake exhibits typical pedophile/rapist behavior. As soon as he sees a new name he engages that person.

So Jake is that how you “found Jesus?” Did your attorney tell you judges go easier on defendents who are “born again”?

  99. Jake says:

For the record, from Revelation 21:1-8

Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”

He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”

He said to me: “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To him who is thirsty I will give to drink without cost from the spring of the water of life. He who overcomes will inherit all this, and I will be his God and he will be my son. But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”

This light exists in all of us to know
Few choose to know, others turn away

Let’s define a few terms up front too:
Pregnancy = fertilization, not implantation in the womb
    Contraception = preventing pregnancy
    Comment by Jake — March 29, 2007 @ 10:20 pm

Uhhhhh, Jake baybee, pregancy DOES equal (=) fertilization and implantation in the womb (otherwise known as the uterus). Biology 101… C’mon, didn’t you see those films in school? If not, here’s a Cliff Notes version….

Female, mid cycle, ovulates and emits an egg into her fallopian tubes, ripe for fertilization. Man and woman have sex in the biblical form and man ejaculates in the woman. One of man’s sperm searches out and pierces the shell of woman’s egg and fertilization occurs; locking all other sperm out. Fertizilized egg hangs for a while, in the fallopian tube, splitting the fertizlized egg into two, four, eight, sixteen, etc., cells until it travels down the tube into the uterus and finds a comfy spot. Once the zygote implants itself in the uteran wall, a placenta begins to grow; the source of life and the multi-cell organism (otherwise now known as an embryo) begins to grow. The woman is pregnant. If the fertilized egg implants itself in the walls of the fallopian tubes, the mother is still pregnant, but she and her embryo, are destined for certain death unless a physician notices the condition or the woman is admitted to the hospital at three moths under excuriciating pain. But you knew this already, right?

If you were my partner (and this is highly hypothetical), I’d have a sex surregate. If you are that stupid to not understand human biology, screw someone else.

  168. Jake says:

    Not Jake’s Egg Donor:

Did you know that, until recently, standard medical textbooks defined pregnancy as fertilization (regardless of implantation)? It was not until the PC “birth control” craze that pregnancy had to include implantation as well. BTW: ectopic pregnancies do not necessarily have to end in certain death for both (although death is always a certainty given the human condition, some unfortunately just sooner than later — prayers and thoughts for RUCerious of course).

  169. Zooey says:

Comment by Not Jake’s Egg Donor

Since Jake showed up here, he’s insisted that pregnancy is at fertilization, not implantation. It doesn’t matter how much information he’s given to the contrary — Jake just knows better.

Somehow we need to re-work the miscarriage rate — in JakeWorld it’s astronomical!

I expect that soon Jake will advocate the arrest and imprisonment of women who turn down dates on Saturday nights — if she’s ovulating, a potential pregnancy has been thwarted!

You are SO ON THE LIST! I had one of those tubal pregnancies and I suppose the Jake-types would rather the mother died than have that pregnancy terminated. After all it is only the unborn life they have respect for. We brought up the 1/3 of pregnancies end in spontaneous abortion but since so many of us are on THE LIST we didn’t get a response.

Jake about 1 in 100,000 ectopic pregnancies migrate out of fallopian tubes but they do not implant in the uterus. So if the other 99,999 don’t terminate the pregnancy they will die from a ruptured tube. Which is why up until the last 50 year women routinely predeceased their husbands. So are you saying you believe that this termination of pregnancy is also a sin – I think god wants to talk to you again.

Jake seems to be proof that No Child Left Behind should be extended to adult education. If pregnancy were the same as fertilization, we’d have a lot of happy in vitro parents. A fertilized egg is not a pregnancy until it’s successfullly implanted in the womb. That doesn’t happen a lot. But relying on it not happening is not very good family planning. Neither is that aspirin between the knees. But then Jake knows that.

The cynical apointment of Dr. Keroack was the same as appointing a lumber and mining lobbyist to run Interior, or someone from DuPont, Dow or ADM to run the EPA. That’s just what this President does; Mr. Rove considers it a lost opportunity to do anything else.

That’s not government. It’s just rape and pillage modernized by an MBA, Karl Rove’s rolodex, and Ken Mehlman’s supercomputer.

So since Jake has nothing to do with it we should discuss options based on that realization. If creationism is true it does not matter since there is the separation of church and state. If Darwin is correct then we are dealing with superstition. Regardless, creating children that will suffer in harsh poverty is the only option expressed by Jake. He can’t see that if overpopulation is not brought down through reason then there will and must be die-offs or EXTINCTION will result.

We have to do the worrying since Jake is finished regardless being 75 years old. Those of us with children have problems to face. We are running out of energy FAST and look at the mess things are now in. Again, who cares about Jake regarding this topic? He can’t relate, @ 75 he should not consider fathering at this late date and he does not know about divorce. None of that has to do with Keroack but this thread has gone in the direction of Row vs. Wade.

She’s on spring break this week and every day I get to see how worth it it all was plus she’s 12 and politically active. She’s been in leadership for 3 years, head of fund raising – $25,000 to Katrina Victims, $12,500 to Make a Wish, and now she’s running for class president. Also she gets to go to state capital in 2 weeks to meet representives. I’m so proud.

Unfortunatly there are quite a few adults that want to have sex, sex and more sex and don’t want to pay the consequences for having promiscuous sex. Sex is an evolutionary “gift”. It’s a fact if you’ll turn off the cartoons and actually read something. I suggest Oxford Biology Professor Richard Dawkins.

You seem to be ignoring other facts – about marriage. The divorce rate of people married since 1990 is around 64%. Obviously the ‘institution’ isn’t working so well. Would you, after all, get in a car if you knew that your survival rate was only 36%?

The number of married people who cheat is also rampant. Fidelity isn’t guaranteed by marriage. But, if you knew ANYTHING about Science, you’d understand that sex is a human NEED, and you can’t stop people from fornicating. Well, apparently, unless you marry them…

You all seem to be missing the core issue here. Planned Parenthood launched an all out offensive against Keroack because he opposed abortion and didn’t wish to have federal fuunds going towards it.

This is totally reaasonable. I see no reason why we should be forced to pay for something that some people beleive kills cchildren. I agree with that ascertion, but even if you don’t it is pretty obvious that you shouldn’t be forced to use your tax money for something like that.

And before you complain about you money going to the war, I am with you on that.

Second, the whole abstinence only thing has become ridiculous. It is a great idea, but currently the program sucks. I work for a pro-life/pro-chastity group and can tell you from experience that the current abstinence only programs have some major issue with them. However, the message itself is working because people who veiw our presentation and go through our program are generally succesfful. Basically, it would be better if we stopped attacking the idea of abstinence only and started trying to change the already half-decent version some schools have.

This case also shows the “fight-dirty” attitude of Planned Parenthood. When they learned that he had a legitamate case to stay in office they decided to attack his private practice. Instead of soing something like protesting or legislaating, they looked over the public records relating to his clinic and found a minor infraction that the DA had thrown out due to it being so minor. Then they put a bunch of their lawyers behind it and decided to screw him up the bum with it.

Show me the 95% of what Jesus said to do that I ignore and I’ll follow it.

You mean you haven’t read the Bible to know?

95% means most of it. I think I was being generous by giving you the 5%.

Oh, but you don’t know me do you> Come to think of it, you don’t know “most of us” either. So your statement has no validity.

Of course I know your kind. It’s easyto know you because you do the exact opposite of what you demand from others…

If my statement wasn’t valid than you would have ignored it. You demonstrated my validity by responding.

“Out of convicted rapists, 57 percent admit to reading pornography; 95 percent admit to reading the Bible.”

    SKdeA,

I’m so sorry to hear about your rape. You are a truly strong and wonderful person. Thank you for sharing your story.

I’d share, but my son comments on TP every now and then….

Still waiting to hear what it is in the Bible that I ignore. And be sure it is 95%. If responding to a statement makes it valid, then just about every statement on this site, even those with which you disagree, is valid. All of Jake’s posts seem to have elicited a response. A response = validity. You responded to my statement, so that makes mine valid too, according to your statment.

  255. TripMaster Monkey says:

CC, are you trying to ignore my post #251?

(Be advised…it’s perfectly valid, regardless of whether or not have the courage to answer.)

    C’mon, now…God is watching you…

  256. TripMaster Monkey says:

    Whoops….make that post #253.

Here’s a linky, in case the numbers shift again.

Go read it. I told you already – I can’t paste the whole thing here.

And be sure it is 95%.

Why at 94% is is null and void? LOL!

If responding to a statement makes it valid, then just about every statement on this site, even those with which you disagree, is valid.

    So? Your point?

All of Jake’s posts seem to have elicited a response. A response = validity. You responded to my statement, so that makes mine valid too, according to your statment.

Again… So? I never claimed they weren’t – that was your smoke screen.

All those in favor of a chastity belt for Jake-off say “aye”. Lock it up and through away the key! I definately do not want him to dilute the intellectual gene pool that I feel is his right to play in the shallow end of. Jake-off, please just drown and put yourself out of the collective memory to TP. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

  259. Jake says:

    Too late, rms ; )

The comments on this page are indicative of the base, profane and low moral nature of the left….your religion is the earth and killing innocent human babies and the feeble elderly is your sacrament.
