Fox News tells the story:
House Minority Leader John Boehner was booed on Wednesday at a construction workers’ union legislative forum for saying the United States needs to fight the war in Iraq or face terror attacks at home.
“Who doesn’t believe that if we just pull out of Iraq and come home that the terrorists won’t follow us here and we’ll be fighting them on the streets of America?” Boehner, R-Ohio, said to members attending the AFL-CIO’s Building & Construction Trades Department’s legislative forum.
Apparently, most in the crowd don’t believe it. Boos from the audience grew louder as Boehner continued, “This is a, ladies and gentlemen, this is a serious fight.”

Boner, go home.

March 29th, 2007 at 8:29 pm“and we’ll be fighting them on the streets of America”
He really has no idea what is going on, does he?
March 29th, 2007 at 8:32 pmOut-fucking-standing.
March 29th, 2007 at 8:33 pm“Who doesn’t believe that if we just pull out of Iraq and come home that the terrorists won’t follow us here and we’ll be fighting them on the streets of America?”
one of the trolls said the same thing on earlier thread today, nearly word-for-word. my favorite was when mccain said yesterday(!) that zarqawi was going to follow us here.

March 29th, 2007 at 8:51 pmFull of fear of the new NSA,
I don’t want to go,
Live in Guantanamo,
Where my rights have been taken away!
Ahhhhh do you smell that? I smell the demise of the Republican party. Smells like roses.
March 29th, 2007 at 8:56 pmI wonder if Boehner started crying, again.
Crying in front of the cameras seems to be one of the latest GOP gambits; according to NBC’s Brian Williams (who apparently thinks throwing in with the rethuglican scum will increase his network’s cruddy news ratings), Bush shed his own (fakey, crocodile) tears today while at an event honoring black veterans.
GOP Jesus says: “Pretend to have feelings, but, really and truly, keep hating everybody that’s not white, ‘religious,’ and rich…because it’s all good.”

Cheney speech at BYU causes outcry
Posted Mar 27, 2007
-Henry said his group felt that it was not appropriate for someone of such an “inflammatory” nature to be at BYU. Henry criticized the move to have Cheney because the vice president does not meet the university’s policy on speakers having “a good public reputation and a moral private life.”
-University of Florida Senate Denies Degree to Jeb Bush (New York Times)
March 29th, 2007 at 9:04 pmThe Faculty Senate at the University of Florida rejected a proposal to award former Gov. Jeb Bush an honorary degree this spring.
So if we leave Iraq the radical religious fanatic extremists from Saudi (Osama) will attack us?
Crazy.

He’d make sure there was a picture of that….
March 29th, 2007 at 9:13 pmBoehner is from Ohio’s 8th Congressional district. He used to be my congressman until redistricting. He is an arrogant, elitist neocon. He was in a position of power when Newt was speaker. Lost favor when Newt resigned and somehow made it back into a power position. I guess when you can toe the party line and don’t have to think for yourself you are the perfect person to rise to a position of “leadership” (or should I say puppetship) in the republican party.
March 29th, 2007 at 9:16 pmOne interesting note. Boehner replaced Donald E. “Buz” Lukans. I have a link about Lukens that you wouldn’t believe.
I couldn’t believe the voters of the 8th still elected a republican after what Buz had done. These are the people that represented me in congress. You can understand why this registered republican became a registered Democrat.
The wheels continue to come off. And isn’t it a beautiful sight?
March 29th, 2007 at 9:20 pmWhat do you expect? The guy’s a walking amalgam of talking points with no idea of what a segue is. He’s transparent as they come.
March 29th, 2007 at 9:20 pmThese were construction workers, not hippies. They are typically Republican but do recognise that they are the working class. If construction workers are booing the neocon line, then you know they have lost. It’s just a matter time now.
March 29th, 2007 at 9:26 pmPerhaps, but I doubt it, that completely clueless Boehner will take a hint and STFU.

March 29th, 2007 at 9:27 pmSo Boehner tried Bush’s favorite line about them following us here, eh? Doesn’t he realize that it didn’t work for Bush or is he really that trite and stupid?
March 29th, 2007 at 10:00 pmThey should have decked the wimp!
March 29th, 2007 at 10:01 pmGood. Maybe they will stop with that nonsense. Noone has ever believed that line. It’s bullshit. And we aren’t scared like they want us to be.
March 29th, 2007 at 10:03 pmOn the contrary…the terrorists will use our civil liberties against us to plot and plan and attack us. That is why, to save us from the terrorists, the Constitution must be destroyed!!! The Bill of Rights is a Safe Haven for Terrorists! A President who is beholden to Congress is impotent! Fair trials mean more opportunities for Terrorists to get off on technicalities!
The ONLY way we have “home field advantage” is if we are as ruthless as the Terrorists! No trials! No “due process”! No “probable cause”! If a neighbor turns you in, you’re guilty! And what do we do with guilty terrorists? We execute them!
this is the mind-think of the 30%. this is the reality they would like us all to live in.

We are soon to be spared the polite clapping and nervous laughter which has been the timid response of the current regimes sympering sycophants.

I am so sick and tired of the imbecility of that meme. As if the terrorists were just waiting for us to leave Iraq… they’ll attack us whenever they feel like it, whether the Us is still in Iraq or not.
Why are we governed by a bunch of morons?

March 30th, 2007 at 8:32 amLast I checked, Halliburton was non union…gas prices are not a union issue nor are housing prices. I am sure the wages paid to the guest workers are at union scale. Unions are here for workers protection from unfair labor practices. You are probably one of the yahoos not wanting to pay a fair wage or offer any benefits to your employees. Just another greedy bastard in the neocon society. FU!
Fact is, Americans have had it with this right wing garbage. If his ideology wasn’t taking our country down the crap hole, Boehner wouldn’t be booed. Thank you to the union for fighting him over there, but you know what, we’d welcome fighting him over here too. We’re all going to fight these bastards until they’re beaten back into the place they belong in society: under a rock.
March 30th, 2007 at 8:53 amWait til the Republican presidential candidates begin campaigning at public forums. Their record is so poor — of course, with Iraq the prime example — they had better get used to hearing boos.
March 30th, 2007 at 9:08 amThat’s got to be the stupidest talking point this week (I was going to say “ever” but they keep out-doing themselves). They’ll “follow us home” just like the Communists did after Vietnam, or Korea, right?
My union is affiliated with the AFL-CIO and they’ve ALWAYS endorsed Democratic candidates. I’m not surprised that Boner had no clue who his audience was.
March 30th, 2007 at 9:11 amEither fight them over there or the government will produce another 9/11 for you to fight over here! You’ve been warned!
March 30th, 2007 at 9:18 amAnyone who makes union thugs boo gets an A+ in my and most Americans books. Those folks enjoy nothing more then bringing down the free market including our Airlines. Every American should be booing the unions out of existence.

Comment by Left Coast Mike — March 30, 2007 @ 8:32 am
Halliburton is successful because they are non union.
Unions are here to push a nutty lib agenda - not to help workers.
Unions were useful when there were no fed or state safety laws. We have plenty of laws protecting workers now. When I was in a union I realized how lazy and worthless the union was. When I tried to help the company make more money and streamline processes, my union steward said that was not my job. Not help my company be more successful? Are you kidding me? I quit that day and started my own business.
Fair wage? Define fair wage…
And lastly… If the best you can do is min wage, you are too stupid to raise a family to begin with and should not reproduce.
March 30th, 2007 at 10:02 pmStubain,
Sorry about your flaccid union but the reality is that most of them help working people get decent wages and benefits. A perfect example of why we need labor unions is Circuit City, who coldly fired managers and replaced them with new ones at a lower compensation level to save money. No other reason given—just whacked a bunch of people to increase their EPS.
Your pals in the WH really helped Halliburton be successful, it certainly wasn’t entirely because they were non union. And they said thanks so much to America by moving their HQ to Dubai, far away from the prying eyes of investigators.
Modern day Archie Bunkers like you and your ridiculous trickle down theory make me sick. Why don’t you fast forward yourself out of the dark ages?
March 30th, 2007 at 10:40 pm#61
First, CC owes nothing to those supervisors. Just like the CC employees can quit at ANY time and go home, the company can fire them at ANY time - no reason is needed. Nobody ever said life was fair. It costs money to hire, train, and keep employees.
Next, Halliburton moved to DB to get away from the grotesque over-taxation big companies have to deal with in the States. And there is no proof what-so-ever that the WH did anything for HB.
Take care!
March 31st, 2007 at 7:48 amMeqanwhile, the Iraqui resistance, (I can`t call them “terrorists” ), emphasize that they have sufficient funds, fighters and weapons to last another 50 years.
