Grassley isn’t really one of the bad guys. He’s one of the few Republicans who know the meaning of oversight, but he was swimming against the current until recently.

He testified in the House yesterday against political hack Lurita Doan – who facilitated using GSA for Republican partisan purposes. Isn’t often you see a Republican Senator TESTIFYING to a House commitee against a Republican appointee.

I think he really wanted these hearings to continue – he just expressed himself awkwardly.

Where to start…ah, the concept of a “topic”. Now, I know that conservatives tend to think that flying off topic at any point to avoid facing an unpleasant fact is as it should be. The rest of the civilized world…wait, worded that wrong…we in the civilized world understand that for a meainingful conversation, one should stay on topic.

…and the topic of this thread is… (thank god this asynchronous communication and I don’t have to wait for that light bulb to limp on)

Second, “they are our allies”. Mmm-hmm. Yah. So, where are all your posts way back when saying, “The French and German governments are our allies” and making the point that we should be concerned about them, their interests and what-not.

Third, have to give you a “very nicely played.” I think the last two dozen posts were focused on your inanity and stupidity without one commenting on the topic at hand. I have no doubt you are a true blue conservative.

Um, one quick point to make is that it’s not clear whether the British sailors were taken in Iraqi or Iranian waters. The border between the two countries has not been settled. Furthermore, if you go pull up a map, the GPS coordinates are closer to Iranian land than to Iraqi land, so…
