Bush sent memo on truth about Tillman’s death.»

“Just seven days after Pat Tillman’s death, a top general warned there were strong indications that it was friendly fire and President Bush might embarrass himself if he said the NFL star-turned-soldier died in an ambush… The memo reinforces suspicions that the Pentagon was more concerned with sparing officials from embarrassment than with leveling with Tillman’s family.” A White House spokesman said “that a review of records turned up no indication that the president had received McChrystal’s warning.”

Amazing how much energy the military is willing to expend to help Emperor Bush keep from embarrassing himself.

You can bet on the fact King George was aware of this.

  2. SKdeA Says:

It will surface, like a bloated corpse…

  3. MrHaney Says:

How many memos are sent to the White House every day dealing with dead ex-NFL football stars? How many memos dealing with dead ex-NFL football stars rise to the Presidential level? How many chances did the White House have to make this right?

  4. Jones Says:

We all know Bush doesn’t read his memos anyways - remember the one in early August of 2001 about bin Laden planning an attack in the United States?

  5. Rocks911 Says:

How many of those memos are about a NFL star-turned-soldier who died in a friendly fire incident?

Plus, you missed the point: Shortly after Tillman’s death, the circumstances were known by the Pentagon. Yet, they decided to use his memory in a sickening political circus (their priority being saving face, not being truthful), rather than disclose all the facts to the Tillmans and the American public.

This is reminiscent of the way the Pentagon used Jessica Lynch’s “liberation” from the Iraqi hospital where she was recovering.

Of course, knowing you were deceived doesn’t bother you -as long as it benefits your Dear (mis)Leader.

  7. Bluedog49 Says:

How much more evidence does anyone need that our president is a sociopath?

    IMPEACH THIS BASTARD!!! NOW!!!!!

  9. hellinabucket Says:

How many times was Tillman’s death used as propaganda? How long were they openly saying it was an ambush? It was all over the news and here’s an memo sent to the President of the United States not to embarass himself. Whether he himself saw this or just another one of the faceless Rovian staff saw it, it was sent to the WhiteHouse.

How long after that did the White House offer an alternate version of Tillman’s death?

    Probably hundreds.

    The real question is:

How many memos about NFL stars being killed by friendly fire does the White House get on an average day?

Once you start asking real questions, people will start to think you are an Independent.

Did I mention that I am a registered Republican now?

  14. Republicans Are The Fear And Smear Party Says:

How many memos does Bush throw away because they might embarrass him? How many memos does Bush read and then deny he ever saw them? How many memos does Bush actually read or care about?

There is actual video evidence of Bush reading. A picture book.

And it’s been clear for some time that he can read a teleprompter.

Bush; have you no sense of shame? At long last, have you no sense of decency? Tillman, Lynch, and others are nothing more than propaganda tools for their sick and twisted agenda. Hitler’s dream lives on.

Mr. Bush’s staff might find the general’s memo on the RNC servers. After all, the Pentagon sent it to the White House.

  21. shane Says:

Bush thinks soldiers are for photo ops. He thinks war is just a movie and death doesn’t affect him or his family so it doesn’t count,

Jake is not 75, and certainly not an “independent”. He is much younger and very much in bed with the GOP. He will stand by his Dear (mis)Leader no matter what, regardless of how high the White House lies pile up.

He will be here, day and night, polishing his talking points, honing his “debating” skills, muddying the issue, moving the goal posts, and overall lowering the bar for the Bush administration.

Short Jake: All hail the Leader!

    Comment by Zep Tepi — March 30, 2007 @ 6:40 pm

Reading is an education, not an IQ based skill… but I will concede he knows at least enough english to get past the 9th grade level.

As for his intelligence…. If he really is 130, then that’s 50 points less than me, but still really scary. I would rather he was an idiot. Then I wouldn’t have anything to be concerned about. If he’s doing all of the things he’s doing with full knowledge of the consequences of his actions, then it’s time to be really scared, because he’s smarter than congress and the media and smarter than most of the population.

I prefer him to be dumb, and eventually get his ass slapped down and/or leave the Whitehouse in disgrace. Inexperience is no substitute for stupidity. He’s had two terms to learn from his mistakes. Lincoln was entirely self taught and knew nothing of military strategy or tactics before he became president.

Then again, even smart people seem to act real stupid when you add fundamentalism to the mix, and Bush has plenty of that. We can only hope that he has no last-minute ace to play, because I’m very certain we will NOT like it.

  30. veritas Says:

They were afraid of embarrassment and also knew that Bush could use this to generate enthusiasm for the war and against the “enemy”…. Tillman was used by Bush for dramatic effect only. Just like every citizen will come to learn the hard, sad truth about how this government shafted (and continues to shaft) the people for greed, money & abuse of power…..sad but true. Everyone is being used & abused by this administration of corruption.

  31. veritas Says:

#28 Bush is known to be dyslexic so why bother sending memo which can never be read. Besides, wasn’t it Sampson who said yesterday that everything they did was “oral”?? No paper trail on purpose. I call this “guilt by culpable negligence”.

  32. veritas Says:

#29 the ugly “twins” are incognito these days for fear of their lives….Jena just bought (hah! Daddy bought this refuge for when he leaves office in disgrace)….a huge parcel of land in a foreign country….they’re the laughingstock of their peer group at this point. Imagine being one of them?

  33. veritas Says:

IMPEACHMENT TIME IS NOW! IMPEACH NOW!

THIS COUNTRY DOESN’T HAVE TWO YEARS TIME TO BE DRAGGED DOWN BY ONGOING SCANDALS ALL LEADING TO THE #1 MAN SO PRESS YOUR REPRESENTATIVES TO MANDATE IMPEACHMENT PROCEEDINGS TODAY!

  34. Bluedog49 Says:

I don’t think Bush is stupid, but I seriously doubt that he would test out at anything near 130. He can’t pronounce certain common words. He doesn’t display any sense of curiosity. He is also easily distracted, which is why there were always such harsh restrictions on protesters at his events. No, he’s not stupid, but he’s no Clinton either. He’s just a remarkably mediocre product of aristocracy.

  35. nofltwlt Says:

Oh don’t worry, the president enjoys embarrassing himself; otherwise he wouldn’t do it so often.

  36. Jake Says:

Now that you mention it, I did have a strange dream last night about an air show which weird planes and ballon ships.

  37. criticalthinker Says:

    G W Bush is STUPID!

He admitted he does not want to read, and that makes him stupid.

If he wanted to be a janitor and does not like to read, fine.

But to be a leader of a company, yet alone a country you damn well better want to read as much as humanly possible!

  38. Jackie Rawlings Says:

    Jake’s response
How many memos are sent to the White House every day? How many rise to the Presidential level?

Now that’s true with so many soldiers dead how does Bush remember Pat Tillman. But Bush did remember Pat Tillman when he honored the soldier who gave up a million dollar career in Football to serve his country. Even Connie Rice spoke of Pat Tillman as she loves to watch football games with George. Strange thing how memory lost comes and goes with the Bush Administration. Bush used Pat Tillman because he was famous after that he couldn’t remember who he was. But Bush does know the Saudi King and needs Americans to back him up with that blank check. The death of the troops mean nothing to the Bush Administration and the memo proved it.

  39. JakeIsStupid Says:

re: 130 IQ? I thought it was 150 for Mensa?

AND CAPTAIN CHIMPya CHOOSES TO “GO DOWN”, IS THAT ON, OR WITH HIS SHIP???????

  44. Com-n-sense Says:

On the day it’s confirmed that bush knew about the circumstances of Pat Tillman’s death and lied to Pat’s family and the American people for his own political gain, he’s doing photo-ops with wounded veterans.

Does this man know no shame?

  45. dlet Says:

A White House spokesman said “that a review of records turned up no indication that the president had received McChrystal’s warning.”

There was also no indication that he could read it and if he could there was no indication that he could understand the big words.

  46. chainpuller Says:

Everytime JAKE threads i have to PULL THE CHAIN as a courtesy!

    The stink is unberable….

    It, threads nothing but SHIT!

  47. Com-n-sense Says:

bush is amazing … he can make a speech about Pat Tillman days after Pat’s death and also claim he would know nothing about the circumstances of the death.

Can you say, “double-talk”? … I knew you could.

Kind of reminds you of the time bush said he saw the first plane on a TV fly into the first building at the WTC before he went to read to the 6 yr. olds, when that footage wasn’t developed till the NEXT day!

    How does bush do this?

  48. english teacher Says:

maybe the tillman’s will figure out someway to sue this son of a bitch in civil court. we already know that a sitting president is not immune from a civil deposition (thank you, paula jones). on top of the wilson’s suit, that would be poetic justice.

  49. kelso Says:

How many lies does it take to get to Toosie Roll center of a Bush Administration?

We’ve been asking the question since 2000, when the Excutive branch was unconstitutionally given away by the Judicial branch. Since then, intrepid liberals both young and old have taken up the challenge of this mystery.

But for those proud few who do make it to the center, and manage to keep count of how many lies it takes, we hold a special place in our hearts.

These TP posts are dedicated to their struggle.

  50. Royston Vasey Says:

#7 oh yes, Jessica. What a story that was. Shot, stabbed, roughed up by evil Iraqis and then the ‘dramitic rescue’.
    Or was it?

Iraqi doctors in Nasiriya say they provided the best treatment they could for the soldier in the midst of war. She was assigned the only specialist bed in the hospital and one of only two nurses on the floor.

“I examined her, I saw she had a broken arm, a broken thigh and a dislocated ankle,” said Dr Harith a-Houssona, who looked after her.

Dr Anmar Uday, who worked at the hospital said “There was no sign of shooting, no bullet inside her body, no stab wound - only road traffic accident. They want to distort the picture. I don’t know why they think there is some benefit in saying she has a bullet injury. We were surprised. Why do this?
There was no military, there were no soldiers in the hospital, It was like a Hollywood film. They cried ‘go, go, go’, with guns and blanks without bullets, blanks and the sound of explosions. They made a show for the American attack on the hospital - action movies like Sylvester Stallone or Jackie Chan.”

  51. shane Says:

Who said Bush has an IQ of 130? Jake? He probably doesn’t have an 80, he just speaks like he does. And not that 130 is that high but you’d think he’d at least be articulate.

Great segments of Bush’s personal life are hidden but somebody found his IQ.

Plus I heard several generals asked him not to use the soldiers for a photo op if he was going to Walter Reed but he ignored them. Just like he ignored the facts on Tillman.

  52. upside00 Says:

    Jake,

Why do you hate the troops so much? Letting this Slimeball of a president get away with tarnishing a true warrior…. something DUbya only dreams of being.
