“For well over a month now, liberal and/or anti-Bush bloggers have hit famed columnist David Broder for a column he wrote on February for The Washington Post (syndicated nationally) in which he suggested that President Bush, perpetually down in the polls, might be ‘poised for a political comeback.’ Today he was asked about this in an online chat at www.washingtonpost.com:
Seattle: Remember your column about President Bush being on the verge of regaining his political footing? Isn’t it about time you revisited that tidbit of political prognostication? (Bush Regains His Footing, Post, Feb. 16)
David S. Broder: I remember that column well. It is time to revisit and revise. Stay tuned.

You know, Bill Clinton once said Bush was poised to regain his political footing. You libs never talk about that, do you?
March 30th, 2007 at 9:19 pmDavid Broder is a certified fool and his columns are 100% baloney!
March 30th, 2007 at 9:20 pmYup, it’s time to lower the Conservative Threat Level.

So, what do we do with the “worst of the worst” when one finally gets a Military Commission “trial”?
Australian Gitmo detainee gets 9 months
The sentence was part of a plea deal.
I expect the likes of Rush to be hollering about this tomorrow.
March 30th, 2007 at 9:30 pmHis poll numbers have never been the same since he went AWOL when black people were drowning in New Orleans.
March 30th, 2007 at 9:30 pmDoesn’t “poised for a political comeback” mean “dead in the water” or “complete nonentity?” I mean, who else is in a position to come back?

“Residents of Fallujah Fear a US ‘Genocidal Strategy’
by Ali al-Fadhily
FALLUJAH - Iraqis in the volatile al-Anbar province west of Baghdad are reporting regular killings carried out by U.S. forces that many believe are part of a ‘genocidal’ strategy.
Since the mysterious explosion at the Shia al-Askari shrine in Samara in February last year, more than 100 Iraqis have been killed daily on average, without any forceful action by the Iraqi government and the U.S. military to stop the killings.
U.S. troops and Iraqi security forces working with them are also executing people seized during home raids and other operations, residents say.”

March 30th, 2007 at 9:54 pmWELL, IT LOOK LIKE David Broder HAS GONE SENILE IN HIS DOTAGE AND LOST HIS MARBLES COMPLETELY—–COULDN’T HAVE HAPPENED TO A NICE GUY—-HAH HAH HAH HAH HAH!!!!! HAH!

“The Iraqi Parliament has before it today, in fact, a bill called the hydrocarbon law…
If passed, the law will make available to Exxon/Mobil, Chevron/Texaco, BP/Amoco, and Royal Dutch/Shell about 4/5’s of the stupendous petroleum reserves in Iraq. That is the wretched goal of the Bush Administration, and in his speech setting the revenue-sharing “benchmark†Mr. Bush consciously avoided any hint of it.”
March 30th, 2007 at 10:02 pmBush’s “bounce” is more like a “nosedive” into the abyss of darkness and the morass of evil.
March 30th, 2007 at 10:08 pmBush’s “loyalty to the people” (or lack thereof) was epitomized by his allowance of thousands of people to die during Katrina…for cripes sake, he couldn’t marshall enough resources to get these dying people water for 4 days. Abominable and appalling and his numbers deserve to plummet!

March 30th, 2007 at 10:13 pmThe Bush bounce, like that statue of Bush and Bush Boulevard in Baghdad, I will believe when I see it.
March 30th, 2007 at 10:15 pmmany readers don’t know this, but
david broder does not exist in the flesh.
he’s just a name on one of those statues you see in small parks all over in d.c. - no, not the man on the horse, the horse hisself.
his columns actually are written for wapo by interns at the republican national committee in washington.
at the rnc, it’s considered quite an honor among interns to be given the “david broder award”,
in advance of course,
for writing a david broder wapoop column heralding the coming of republican victories.
and you’d have to agree,
these columns have just the rhythm and style of a solid christian/republican burger.
in fact, it is rumored that, prior to writing one of the coveted broder columns, many of the good young christians selected seclude themselves in an ashram to meditate on the theme
“what would david write?”

The sad thing is this guy has been in Gitmo with no chance of getting out. They originally wanted 20 years minimum for this guy. He pleas to 6 months. What would you do. Go back to Gitmo, take a chance at 20 years or take 6 months in an Australian prison? Even if I was innocent I know what I would do. Just like a not guilty verdict doesn’t mean you did it a plea agreement doesn’t mean you are guilty. You may just want to get away from a worse situation.
March 30th, 2007 at 10:30 pmThe oil men of the Bush administration are trying to set up one of the biggest swindles in history–the great Iraq oil robbery.
The cabinet of the new Iraqi government–under pressure from the U.S. occupiers who put them in power–approved a law that would undo Iraq’s nationalized system and give Western oil giants unparalleled access to the country’s vast reserves.
The oil companies would be guaranteed super-profits–on a scale unknown anywhere else in the Middle East–for a period of 20 to 35 years from oil pumped out of two-thirds or more of Iraq’s oilfields. Meanwhile, Iraqis would continue to endure poverty and the devastation of war while sitting atop what is estimated to be the third-largest supply of the world’s most sought-after resource.
March 30th, 2007 at 10:31 pmFor years President Bush has cloaked his intentions behind the fabricated “Global War on Terrorism.” It has long been suspected that oil drove the wars, but dozens of skilled and determined writers have documented it. It is no longer a matter of suspicion, nor is it speculation now: it is sordid fact. (See a brief summary of the story at http://www.alternet.org/waroniraq/47489/ . )

March 30th, 2007 at 10:50 pmHow many lies does it take to get to Toosie Roll center of a Bush Administration?
We’ve been asking the question since 2000, when the Excutive branch was unconstitutionally given away by the Judicial branch. Since then, intrepid liberals both young and old have taken up the challenge of this mystery.
But for those proud few who do make it to the center, and manage to keep count of how many lies it takes, we hold a special place in our hearts.
These TP posts are dedicated to their struggle.

March 30th, 2007 at 11:17 pmTony Blair is a war crim….fool.
I wonder if Gordon Brown (his supposed successor as PM) will be any better.
March 30th, 2007 at 11:50 pmI have no recourse to this thread. The concepts as presented are tragically true. Why would an administration try to destroy both our nation and the human race?

March 31st, 2007 at 12:41 amBroder is sounding like Joe Scarboro now,who says Bush is going to rise again like the Phoenix. (yeah, right)
March 31st, 2007 at 1:12 amMaybe Elvis is poised for his comeback too, now.
What a joke.
March 31st, 2007 at 8:21 amI can explain Broder’s idiotic prediction. It’s yet another winger thought glitch. Wingers invariably predict a rosy future for themselves, no matter how absurd the prediction is. If you look around, you’ll see they do this constantly. It’s like a defective brain crying out for help.
March 31st, 2007 at 8:44 amBroder is another Washington insider who has been around WAY too long and has been corrupted by the system to the point where it is laughable to still call him a journalist. It is time for him to be put out to pature.
March 31st, 2007 at 6:37 pmFinally, a democrat has the stones to tell it like it is.
Has any flamethrowing, foamy mouthed, blathermeister from the rigth offered an argument as to why the war is not lost?
What say you Herr Broder?
April 23rd, 2007 at 8:43 pmUntil we figured out we are in nazi territory right in our own front yard, amurkins didn’t pay much attention to eurocentric talking heads on tv or in print. maybe because the MSM has lowered our expectations about “news”, we usually change the channel to sports or amurkin idol. so i find it refreshing to hear people actually debate with some knowledge for once and finally engage, ’cause if we don’t, freedom is just another word for bushco’s ability to lie.
