The Marine Corps is investigating charges that Col. Matt Sanchez — a right-wing activist who was discovered to be a former gay porn star and male escort — “solicited more than $12,000 from private organizations by asking them to fund a deployment to Iraq he never made.”

March 31st, 2007 at 9:33 pmplease correct COL to CPL–there is a huge difference! A Colonel (COL) is a very senior officer–usually with >15 years active duty time and much leadership responsibility. This would be even more scandalous if he were a senior officer. A Corporal is a junior enlisted rank–someone right out of highschool with just a few years at most in the Marines.
In any case–active duty personnel are specifically forbidden to align themselves publicly with political causes, especially in uniform–so there are major problems here even before the “second job” came to light!

It’s so convoluted. In the article he denies the allegations, but on his blog he admits U-Haul and the UWVC wanted to give him money, but he never collected it. Why would they offer him $12,000 if he never asked for it? And what role did David Horowitz play in this bogus deployment story?
