Additional Republican calls on Gonzales to resign.

Rep. Lee Terry (R-NE) yesterday called on Attorney General Alberto Gonzales to resign or be fired immediately. “The issue is now, ‘Is Gonzales a truthful person and is he capable of running the Department of Justice?’” Terry said. “Unfortunately, I don’t have faith in him in either one of those areas.”

I say keep AG. The longer Bush holds on, the worse it is for the Right.

George da Turd is sitting on a three legged stool: Gonzo, Deadeye Dick, and KKKarl… if he loses any one of them, over he goes…

I don’t agree, noltnolt. The longer AG is in office, the longer there is another distraction keeping meaningful progress from being made. Not that his resignation would suddenly cease the need for investigative hearings and whatnot, but the longer he’s in office, the longer it will dominate the media – in place of meaningful legislative debate, etc, etc.

I say keep the clown in office. Keep it up Dubya and the GOP will lose the White House in 2008 and won’t be back in power for a generation. Heck of a job, Bushie.

Terry said he also sees nothing nefarious behind the firings. He said Gonzales’ credibility problems are self-inflicted. The fired prosecutors, after all, served at the pleasure of the president.

“They have the absolute right to fire them because it’s Wednesday at noon,” Terry said. “They don’t need a reason.”

So, it’s perfectly ok to fire a prosecutor in order to obstruct justice.

How’s this, when a Democrat becomes President, and there’s a Democratic majority in the House and Senate, fire all the prosecutors and replace them with party loyalists. Tell them they can keep their jobs, so long as they prosecute and convict Republicans only. Then, go one step further, increase the Supreme Court by a couple of Justices and insist on an up or down vote in the Senate.

That is exactly why I want Gonzo to stay. After 2009 there will never be another Democrat scandal. ;>)

“Diversity” is one word that is rarely associated with the conservative movement in general and the Republican Party in particular. But when it comes to efforts by minority Republicans Alberto Gonzales and Lurita Doan to convert their federal agencies into entrenched partisan redoubts of the GOP, the right has been very quick indeed to turn to the “diversity defense.”

The rats are turning on the rats. Senator Hatch wants Gonzo’s job so he making nice to suck up to Bush when Gonzo get kicked out. As Hatch is older then dirt this might be his last stand. He might want to be remembered as the man who brought honest back to the Justice System.
All these people are like buzzard waiting to attack when the victim is weak enough. Now all the lawyers who suck up to Bush are circling Gonzo for the kill. Let’s see who wins this one. Who knows Bush might appoint Fingers Foley he’s looking for a job so he can get more selections of kids. With this group you never know.

As Gonzales circles the drain, GOP Senator McCain shops in Baghdad with 100 soldiers and attack helicopters to protect him.
