“More than two-thirds of the world’s people are worried by global warming with Americans (57 percent) among the least anxious even though their nation is the top source of greenhouse gases, an opinion poll showed on Tuesday.” Brazilians topped the list, with 87 percent concerned about climate change.
D’ya think it’s ’cause we are the greatest contributor to the problem?
April 3rd, 2007 at 12:17 pmIf we did give a crap, we wouldn’t be the top emitter of greenhouse gasses.
April 3rd, 2007 at 12:18 pmDang, dude, are we on, or what? :)
April 3rd, 2007 at 12:20 pmAh…”The Ugly American” takes another bow
I’m no longer proud to be one.
April 3rd, 2007 at 12:23 pmWell, they should. The new biofuel deal Lula signed with Bush was a death sentence to the Amazons.
April 3rd, 2007 at 12:25 pmHow many times must it be stated that global warming is hoax. Read the report from Iron Mountain (create a fictitious enemy in order to control the people). The same people behind the global warming hoax are the same people spraying you daily with chemtrails. Wake up to psychological operation being performed on you … its goal is to weaken the USA, get the world to unite behind an issue, and march us all towards ONE WORLD GOVERNMENT known as the NEW WORLD ORDER.
The few elites in the world are simply attempting to control the masses and all of you are falling for it. I’d suggest you read The Naked Capitalist to understand the agenda of the few elite banking families that run the world. Hint: They’re shareholders in the private corporation known as our Federal Reserve and our politicians must do as the Federal Reserve shareholders say or else they’ll be assassinated or they’ll collapse the economy.
It’s perfectly clear that America is under attack from the same globalists attacking Iraq …. they’re just using different means.
April 3rd, 2007 at 12:30 pmWacko alert on #6
April 3rd, 2007 at 12:35 pmThat’s because Bush put a flunky in office to argue that the scientists are wrong and there is no human cause of global warming.
And the American people, in their infinite wisdom, choose to believe that scientists are lying and corporations are telling the truth.
And since we are apparently the most selfish, shallow and self-serving people since the collapse of the Roman Empire we choose to only worry about what is happening to US today.
If more people bothered to do research like TPers do perhaps that would change. What is so sad is that we have a leader that lies to us more than other nations Americans would call less developed. We will obviously be defeated by our own stupidity.
April 3rd, 2007 at 12:35 pmI think jonny is a troll. He’s new here, so let’s give him the chance to prove me wrong.
April 3rd, 2007 at 12:37 pmHe might just be very, very misinformed.
I pretty much agree with his whole post except the first sentence…
So jonny, what the heck would be wrong with clean air and a stable climate?
How many times must it be stated that global warming is hoax.

What an idiot. sheesh

Yeah, dipshit. Keep on saying that and your grandchildren will need scuba equipment just to get to school. Actually, here is a better idea: Since Dumbya’s done so well with our national security, why not put his peeps in charge of global warming also. That is sure to accelerate our demise.

Whaaaat?
Sorry but those elites do exist and they are the ones convincing you global warming doesn’t exist.

Or defeated by stupidity and insanity as the case may be. Little jonny no doubt has been failed by Bush’s “No Child Left Behing” plan.
Jonny better start getting remedial education in reading and science. Maybe a little history would come in handy. Might as well forget math – no effing way he can handle it.

No freak, the melting glaciers and expanding deserts around the globe have me (and many others) convinced global warming is a real concern. I wish you would attempt to join the human race. It must be lonely being a freak.
April 3rd, 2007 at 12:43 pmMaybe those 43% of Americans want more discussion before we make irreversible changes to our economy.

I guess both sides have them huh?
April 3rd, 2007 at 12:48 pmWith Bush and if Mitt wins it will be like the Titanic sinking. As the GOP says nothings happening we are destroyed. Check out the weather in the US and blame it on Clinton. Some elected officials see it as not happening in their day so they don’t care. Most of the Branches of Government are older then dirt so only the next generation will have the problem. It’s all about greed if the company pays enough under the table money what do they care. Look at Boner he has his pockets lined for staying the course and signing bills that destroy the US. He only cares about keeping his nails done and his fake tan oh yes that hair do. Lott got his second new home thanks to the Katrina money handled by Cheney. It pays to be an insider as you notice the rest of the Katrina victims are still waiting as Lott sits back and laughs. Yes Bush promise Lott when his house was destroyed that Lott would have a bigger and better home built with the Katrina money and Bush kept his promise.

Uh Uh. Our economy, our economy.
After WWII, US had the 50% of the global market. Since 1970, US was left with the 25% due to the rising of Japan and Western Europe. Now, beware of India and China. US could adapt easily to new energy sources, and not affecting your economy. But, if it does affect your economy, I hope you rather breath dollars instead of clean air.
April 3rd, 2007 at 12:51 pmI don’t agree with Jonny that this is a hoax or scare tactic, but let’s just pretend for a minute that it is.
What would be wrong with continuing to erecting houses and buildings that are built to stricter emisions regulations or driving around in cars that don’t send as much poluition into the air?
Maybe the Planet never will turn into a barrent wasteland like MOST SCIENTISTS believe it eventually will, but don’t you think that you’d at the very least sleep better knowing that you were at least trying to make a positive change?!

April 3rd, 2007 at 1:03 pmUSE LESS GAS, PERIOD! DEVELOP ETHANOL, HYDROGEN AND ELECTRIC, EVEN ATOMIC POWER—OOPS, IXNAY ON THE ASTLAY ONE—MIGHT HAVE ATOMIC-POWERED DIRTY-SUICIDE-BOMBERS IF THAT’S THE CASE!!!!!

So Bush has them destroying more rain forest. Because we don’t have enough farm land here to grow biofuels. We have been paying farmers for decades not to grow crops to keep prices up.
Of course that has been to benefit the mega corporate farmers not the family farmers.
Is nobody pointing out that rain forests, in addition to creating rain across the planet, breath in CO2 and breath out oxygen? Or are we done with that benefit of all forests now?
April 3rd, 2007 at 1:07 pmTom – are you there?

shane, jonny and Tom are talking about the global warming ocurring on the planet Neptune.
April 3rd, 2007 at 1:09 pmOk, so let me get this straight. Public opinion matters when it comes to the war in Iraq, but it doesn’t matter when it comes to global warming.
I don’t understand you liberals. Should the government bow to public opinion or not?
April 3rd, 2007 at 1:13 pmOK progressives, you read it here first. I believe global warming is real.
There, I said it. Didn’t hurt too bad afterall.
Now, what to do about it? Well, that depends on how bad it is going to get, right? Only problem is, nobody has built a model that can accurately tell us how bad it will be. No. Bod. E.
Until we have that, I am not signing up for any measures that do significant damage to our economy.
April 3rd, 2007 at 1:14 pmNothing at all, as long as it’s done voluntarily
I recently bought a new car; I bought a fairly fuel-efficient model, got 4 cyls instead of 6 cyls, have cut down on my driving (combined trips, etc), drive slower (no more 80mph on the Parkway), take my Harley when possible (okay, that’s for more than fuel economy :-), but it’s all voluntary.
April 3rd, 2007 at 1:25 pmNothing is shocking anymore…
The earliest humans lived at the same time as the dinosaurs.
Nearly one half of adult Americans (49%) believe it to be true. Since evolutionary evidence (from the fossil record and DNA studies) clearly shows that dinosaurs died out about 66 million years ago, and modern humans did not appear until approximately 120,000 years ago, this is a startling misconception.
But it is not the only one. Only 45% know that antibiotics do not kill viruses, and 49% that it takes a year for the Earth to make one circuit around the Sun. Two thirds fail to know that the universe began with a huge explosion (the so-called Big Bang).
When we are asked to define scientific and technical terms in our own words, we do even worse. Only 29% could adequately explain DNA, 16% the Internet, 13% a molecule, and 11% radiation.
April 3rd, 2007 at 1:48 pmThe Venusians didn’t believe in Global Warming either.

April 3rd, 2007 at 1:54 pmYes, we must join with Russia, England, India, China, France, Australia and Japan and build more nuclear power plants to reduce our emissions of greenhouse gasses.
No doubt about it.
April 3rd, 2007 at 1:54 pmDo creationists believe in global warming? When did god send us this plague? I mean, the repugnicunt plague. (And why).
April 3rd, 2007 at 2:08 pmAmericans know the difference between real faith and faux-religion. We aren’t the greatest nation on earth for nothing.
