Bush: Success In Iraq ‘Is More Than A Military Mission, Precisely Why I Sent More Troops’

President Bush during his Rose Garden press conference today:

The solution to Iraq — an Iraq that can govern itself, sustain itself and defend itself — is more than a military mission. Precisely the reason why I sent more troops into Baghdad.

Watch it:

[flv http://video.thinkprogress.org/2007/04/bushprecisely.320.240.flv]

Now it makes complete sense.

Bush later argued that sending more U.S. troops provides “some breathing space for this democratically elected government to succeed.” This from the man who said in 2005:

Sending more Americans would undermine our strategy of encouraging Iraqis to take the lead in this fight. And sending more Americans would suggest that we intend to stay forever, when we are, in fact, working for the day when Iraq can defend itself and we can leave.

    Hey guys,

I know you think I am dumb, but as people in this world are not dying fast enough to combat population explosion, I am forced to abuse my strengthening authoritarian powers to control these expanding baby makers. It seems that my gamma ray creating tsunami and killing spree in Iraq just ain’t doing the job. My new strategy was thought up after reading Jonathan Swift’s Modest Proposal. Obviously the naïve Swift cannot understand the speed at which we must combat this terror; I will try and talk with him in the coming weeks about this. Folks, time is of the essence to off another few million people, since the scandals of my administration and the upcomming evidence on the truth of 9/11 (note to self – tell Bill O to take care of Rosie) are starting to cause people to question (as if they have the right) my decisions (I AM THE DECIDER DAMMIT). By executive order, I am hereby escalating my PNAC and AEI funded apocalyptic plan (CFR is so jealous). Although there will always be a few hiccups like the date, time, and place of my initiating “Operation: Kill All The Unnecessary People.” Another hiccup is that my current Black-Ops operative and ex-FBI henchman who was supposed to plant numerous false flag explosions throughout Iran being missing for a few weeks. Can’t someone Black Bury him, or use the Google and the internets? Hey Iranians, could you please help us find him?

Well anyway, my 5 step plan to kick off this expedited plan is called “Operation: Look How Stupid The American People Are.” Over here at disinformation central, we just love naming plans, preplans, post-plans, hit-strategies, etc.

I will give you the 5 main components of the plan:

    1) Leak a completely fabricated story (we pulled this one right out of Cheney’s ass) to my illuminati buds at Disney to circulate via their MK-Ultra sponsored subsidiary ABC.

    2) Schedule a fake press conference three days before dropping bombs on Tehran. Note to self: Remember to make sure to call on the CIA plants in the press, remember not to allow any unscripted questions or my brain might explode with all the bull shit in it.

    3) Make sure the reporter that has the “key question.” You know the one about easily refuted Iran nukes! Make sure that she has completed her state sanctioned mind control treatments, knows that we can ruin her in a second, and is so tied to me that she cannot think of diverting the plan.

    4) Answer the question in a way that can easily justify bombing dozens of cities and millions of people for no reason. Now that we have sanctioned pre-emptive wars, this should be a no brainer. Those morons at the Congress are busy dealing with my Iran escalation (they are so dumb they think it is to secure Baghdad — jokes on you Pelosi!)

    5) Tell Blair to mention some BS about crucial 48 hours to Iran. Hey Blairo-you better stick to the script like a good monkey!!!

Well there you have it folks. I just hope that this educational lesson will allow me to do my job as Milky Way Deity and “Decider of Who Shall Live and Who Shall Die.” Please stop bugging me so that I can get on with our Final Solution. I want to get back to playing “The World’s Most Dangerous Game” with shotgun wielding Dick. I mean really, can’t you see I am doing the people’s business?

#21. 500,000 more people voted for Al in 2000 than for the Chimp. Plus its been shown after the fact that Al won Florida. Thus, Gore won in 2000. Then in Ohio with its myriad problems with vote fraud, where some precincts had 175 % voter turn out (and every one of those precincts with > 100 percent voter turn out went for Bush – as reported by Randi Rhodes) Kerry would won that election in the electoral college had the vote not been manipulated. Thus, I repeat, when did Bush win twice – at least legally?

There is hope for you, Kevin. Deprogrammers are standing by for an intervention.

  54. david says:

Two problems. First, if he’s trying to help the ‘democratically’ elected government of Iraq, why do they pay no attention to what this elected Iraqi government wants. The Americans overrule the Iraq leadership constantly. And the scandal breaking in Britain is that the seizure of their 15 Royal Navy personnel is directly related to a half-baked American scheme to seize two Iranian officials on a legitimate visit to meet with Iraqi officials. Talk about castrating this ‘democratically’ elected government.

Secondly, Bush spoke of not liking politicians trying to tell generals how to run a war. News flash: Bush is a politician and his job IS to tell the generals how to run this war –he’s just not doing a very good job of it. Indeed, the Founding Fathers, suspicious of standing armies and military dictatorships, specifically put the armed forces under civilian command. Bush, however, is neither taking the advice of his commanders in the field or the civilian members of Congress; he’s waging some bizarre war of wishful thinking.

News Flash: Kissinger, that old devil, says the war in Iraq is LOST. NATO commanders say the war in Afghanistan is LOST. Does the President want to try for Strike Three?

    1. They can keep their money
    2. They can keep health care the way it is – who cares about the 47 million uninsured attitude, if we went universal THEIR health care would be affected
    3. War in Iraq: It doesn’t affect us and Bush is doing what he has to do.

These people live in gated communities, isolated from the common folks and really don’t care about the problems of others as long as their life is not affected.

I think now only a neanderthal doesn’t accept that Bush wanted ‘regime change” in Iraqnam so he could get the oil for his buddies. That being the case, I’m convinced he will do anything and say anything to get everything he wants. And if blaming Democrats for his failures will get him there more quickly, he’ll certainly do that.

From Comment #2, here is a more serious view of the plan:

5 step plan to invade Iran:

    1) Leak a purely hypothetical story to ABC:

Exclusive: Iran Nuclear Bomb Could Be Possible by 2009

    http://blogs.abcnews.com/theblotter/2007/04/exclusive_iran_.html

    2) Schedule a press conference:

Bush will hold a Rose Garden press conference

Today at 10 am to slam Congress’ efforts to push a timetable for withdrawal from Iraq. CNN’s White House correspondent Elaine Quijano reports:

President Bush is showing no signs of blinking in his opposition to any kind of timetable for U.S. troop withdrawals in Iraq. And essentially, Soledad, that’s the message we expect to hear once more from the President today when he delivers remarks in the Rose Garden.

    http://thinkprogress.org/2007/04/03/bush-will-hold-a-rose-garden-press-conference/

    3) Plant a question that refers to the ABC article:

    Martha.

Q Back to Iran, sir. ABC has been reporting that Iran will be capable of building a nuclear bomb within two years. Have you seen evidence that Iran is accelerating its nuclear program?

THE PRESIDENT: I haven’t seen the report that you just referred to. I do share concerns about Iranian intention to have a nuclear weapon. I firmly believe that if Iran were to have a nuclear weapon, it would be a seriously destabilizing influence in the Middle East. And therefore, we have worked to build a international coalition to try to convince the Iranians to give up their weapon, to make it clear that they have choices to make — whether the choice be isolation, or missed opportunity to grow their economies. And so we take your — we take the

    – we take seriously the attempts of the Iranians to gain a nuclear weapon.

Q Have you seen an acceleration, though?

THE PRESIDENT: I’m not going to talk about any intelligence that I’ve seen one way or the other. But I do want you to know how seriously we take the Iranian nuclear issue. As a matter of fact, it is the cornerstone of our Iranian policy. It is — and that’s why we spend a lot of time in working with friends, allies, concerned people to rally international support, to make it clear to the Iranian people that there is a better option for them.

Now, we have no problem, no beef with the Iranian people. We value their history; we value their traditions. But their government is making some choices that will continue to isolate them and deprive them of a better economic future. So we take the issue very seriously.

You cannot ‘IMPEACH’ a dictator. There is only one way to get rid of one of those. The idea that he could be impeached rather than REMOVED by force implies that he is not a dictator at all. Maybe you forgot that it was CONGRESS that gave Bush war powers? For every finger you point there are four pointed back at you. And so it works this way for congress too. This is why they don’t IMPEACH him. They realize that if we don’t get the resources the Chinese will! We are possibly looking at a CIVIL WAR in the US.

  83. Bluedog49 says:

Saywho: “We are possibly looking at a CIVIL WAR in the US.”

Yes you are, and if that transpires what happens then? This majority you speak of will run out of money as the nation runs out of cheap energy. So then we will see REVOLT.

  85. Bluedog49 says:

Saywho, I may be a fool, but I think that if Dems have the power, you’ll see a major commitment to lessen our dependence on foreign oil with new initiatives for conservation and renewable energy. The main reason I think this is that Dems owe absolutely NOTHING to the oil industry.

I take it you liberals don’t want us to stay in Iraq because you guys are racist and hate the Iraqis, right?

Affirmative action for American blacks: bad!

    Affirmative action for Iraqis: good!

    Bluedog49,
Don’t get me wrong I’m not happy about any of this. The poor of the US will be better off than the wealthy. The wealthy want to have their cake and eat it too. Here are the facts that I know…

    Peak Oil =
    1) http://www.youtube.com/v/4fo3sxhBylw
    2) http://www.youtube.com/v/BZffwRfrmOY

    Peak Coal =
    1) http://www.theoildrum.com/files/possiblecoalproduction.gif

You mention a democratic congress creating initiates to expand on alternative fuel supplies. All too often I refer to energy and fuel as one in the same but our issue is Cheap Fuel and Abundant Fuel. The alternatives all rely on the big three Oil, Coal & NG and you must remember that the EROEI of alternatives is critical.

The economy of the US is based on OIL at this point. Nuclear (if made safe) would peak as well and leave us with an eternity of dangerous waste. Nuclear requires mining, transport, construction, etc.

Solar requires mines, precious metals and energy to manufacture all of that. When viewed according to energy returned on energy invested our US economy has gone negative and thus the Iraq invasion.

  88. Captain Kirk says:

    oh you poor partisan hacks….

Has anyone of you ever thought that the Korean war was actually a freaking civil war? hmmmm….

so why did a Democrat and the United Nations get us involved in this? why?

Were the communist in Korea invading other nations, where they? NO!!!

They were taking over non-communist Korea, and the two Koreas were going at it….the Chinese came in and helped the North, just like Iran is helping the terrorists.

so….why is it ok for the US to go into Korea to get involved in a civil war, to keep troops there, but not ok for us to do the same in Iraq?

why do you liberal partisan hacks hate Iraqis so much? why do you guys hate them just because they are Iraqis?

If we are going to condemn this war, make sure you condemn Harry Truman and our involvment in Korea and the fact that all Presidents since Truman have added or kept our troops there.

I mean aren’t you liberals against racism? what is good for the Koreans is good for the Iraqis, right? or no?

I detest that fake smile of his!! He probably just said something really stupid and unbelievable. He always uses that fake smile when he says something particularly obnoxious.

  90. Captain Kirk says:

    barfly,

when have I ever said that Affermative Action for anyone is good or bad?

you poor partisan hacks, so desperate to paint everyone with a broad brush, so desperate to stereotype those you disagree with that you make, uneducated, silly, ill-informed statements.

you have ZERO clue to what my stand of Affermative Action is. I would suggest that you don’t make an idiot of yourself by trying to guess.

  91. Captain Kirk says:

    Bush a dictator?

you poor extreme left wing wackos. Even my liberal friends admit that you guys harm liberal causes more than you help.

As I have always said, if on January 2009 Bush doesn’t step down from power, I will join you all in calling him a dictator, until then you extreme left wing wackos are just a bunch of hateful looney tunes.

  94. ForTruth says:

    So Kirk,

Bush is one step away from being a dictator in your eyes, you just said it.

  95. Captain Kirk says:

    ForTruth,

if that is how you decided to read my post, by all means believe what you will.

Once again, when Bush doesn’t step down from power on Jan. 2009 I will join the looney tunes of the left and call Bush a dictator, until then you looney tunes keep on making crazy conjectures.

  96. June says:

    Captain Kirk:

why is it ok for the US to go into Korea to get involved in a civil war, to keep troops there, but not ok for us to do the same in Iraq?

Why don’t you ask Bush since he is the one who said that it would be a bad idea to get involved in an Iraqi Civil War and that we would definitely not have a permanent military presence in Iraq.

When did you finally start admitting that this is a Civil War?

But to answer your question, I would suggest that its because we were invited by the South Koreans, but I don’t particularly remember being invited into Iraq by anyone other than Chalabi. That con-man wasn’t even living there at the time and used us to gain the power which he still currently holds in Iraq even after being exposed as a fraud.

The Iraqis want us out by a strong majority and their Government wants a date for our withdrawl. If you love the Iraqis and respect Democracy as much as you pretend to, then you would listen and agree that we should leave.

Why do you prefer to leave our troops exposed as targets and creating enemies in Iraq instead of in a state of preparedness to defend against an actual threat to our security?

  97. Loonie says:

    What a poltroon.

  98. Bluedog49 says:

Sorry, Captain, the Korean situation was not a civil war so your silly little revelation that objection to the war in Iraq is “racist” is just stupid. Besides, I don’t know if you ever noticed this, but Koreans are “people of color” as well.

Here’s a suggestion for all of you trolls: look for the simplest explanation for things first. Possibly, the reason people are against the war in Iraq is because it was a huge blunder built on lies and fabrications. Maybe we don’t agree with the policy because it’s not working.

Mr Bush sure makes Yale look bad.

I thought it was supposed to be one of America’s finest universities.

  101. WaltTheMan says:

The latest upsurge in solar cells is based on organic polymers that replicate the chlorophyll photosynthesis process and convert CO2 and H2O to methane, oxygen and electrical energy cheaply. They can also produce sugars instead of methane, but that would create a backlash in the sugar industry, frees fewer oxygen molecules per unit reaction and requires a liquid circulation system to remove the sugar byproducts.

  102. darby1936 says:

    Bush is high on Friedmans.

  103. Eargy Earp says:

When covering a Bush press conference, the media should broadcast on delay.

That way when a new idiotic Bushism occurs, it can be dubbed over Pippy Longstocking style or just BLEEEEPed to spare the thinking world from this level of inanity.

I guess if his strategy was to win a foot race, he’d send in the legless as well.

  104. Universe Man says:
