GOP delegation comments on Syria trip.

“In a statement issued by the U.S. Embassy in Damascus,” the three Republican congressmen visiting Syria “said they had talked about ‘ending support for Hezbollah and Hamas, recognizing Israel’s right to exist in peace and security, and ceasing interference in Lebanon.’ ‘We came because we believe there is an opportunity for dialogue,’ the statement said. ‘We are following in the lead of Ronald Reagan, who reached out to the Soviets during the Cold War,’ it added.”

  4. TerrytheTurtle says:

Er let’s see “Nancy Pelosi gave material support to terrorists and she’s coming home with exploding underpants – don’t let her near the President”

    How was that, Mister?

  5. DM says:

I can’t wait to hear what people say about Bush when they no longer have to deal with him in the White House. There’s going to be some incredible books written.

  6. Jay Randal says:

GOPers are disgusting hypocrites so nothing more needs to be said.

  7. JPark says:

Oh, those traitorous Republicans. You can’t talk to the enemy!!!! It is amazing that Bush lets nobodies like that (I have heard of none of those losers) do his dirty work.

  8. Kilo says:

After such a buildup of this story and featuring such a stark rebuttal to critics, 7 comments must be a little disappointing.

Maybe work a Snoop Dog and O’Reilly angle in somewhere ? 160 comments for that pointless bit of E!news.

  9. Perry Logan says:

Ronald Reagan “reached out to the Soviets during the Cold War”? Why, that traitor!

Please go to http://www.capitalnews.org/ and vote your approval of Speaker Pelosi’s trip to Syria. I think the rightwingers make it a point to get on there and vote . Right now it’s 57% disapprove and 43% approve. They show this poll on CSpan, so it’s worth it to take the time to vote, in my opinion.

  11. Kate Henry says:

#10 – the current poll there is asking if the Congress should cut off funding for Iraq. It is currently 75% yes and 25% no. Very interesting indeed!

  12. BearCountry says:

Of course w’s minions, including most of the MSM (newspapers, TV, radio), will attack Pelosi for going to Syria without mentioning that any rethuglicans went. The job of the attackers, including the trolls on this blog, is to misdirect, smear, and generally make hypocritical points. That they can do all of this with a straight face is mysterious to me. I guess that the ultimate goal of overturning the Constitution and replacing it with an absolutist leader (their choice, of course) is to them a greater good.

  13. midwestblue says:

#11–Yes, very interesting, considering every talking head is constantly saying the public doesn’t want to cut funding. I think the public is starting to realize that cutting the funding doesn’t mean that troops will be without necessary equipment, although Bush tried to paint it that way in his press conference yesterday.

I admire Ms. Palosi for her courage and intelligent gesture to attempt
to include and engage the nations we are in doubt about. It appears
to me to be a sensible and logical thought to find a peaceful and
diplomatic solution to this situation. Why is it that our leaders do not
see it this way? Are they afraid to have a wider view of the global
problem and a possible solution? Possibly because they haven’t
thought things through enough and someone else will? Thank You
Ms. Palosi for your determination. We need a person of your
integrity, strength and honesty in our government.
