More on WH ‘cooperation’ with GOP Syria trip.

Greg Sargent notes, “It’s unclear what this GOP chief of staff’s description of ‘cooperation‘ between these members of Congress and the administration means in practice. It could end up amounting to nothing at all.” Reporter Christopher Allbritton offers one possibility:

I spoke with a source at a Western embassy in Beirut about this, and the source said the Republicans had been discouraged from going, just as Pelosi and her delegation had been. But, the source said, if a Congressional delegation is determined to go to Damascus, the U.S. embassy in Beirut would help them out.

Well , I just fell apart at a town meeting with doc Hastings , who when asked about habeas corpus rights told the audience that there was never any law passed that gives the executive the right to waive this constitutionally guaranteed right for an American citizen.
He began to explain to the audience that Habeas corpus is a right unique to America .Has doc ever been to another country ? Does he believe people are arrested with out charges in most other countries other than the United States ?
A this point I spoke like an angry idiot and said that was untrue and apparently I knew more of whats going on in the American government than he does .
I asked what his thoughts were on Black water ,a mercenary army based in Virginia receiving billions of dollars in contracts and being represented by Kenneth Star and the presidents general counsel Fred Fielding ,or about the government spying on 100’s of 1000’s of its own citizens and perhaps he could also say a few words on the legal arguments for torture ?
Mr Hasting , our man on the senate ethics committee replied that we must respectfully disagree .I replied that I was amazed that there was not more outrage present and that the federal government seems to have broken down entirely , and that I couldn’t stand any more of the dog and pony show that was his town meeting and left !
Any one care to write doc hasting and clear up this little misunderstanding about habeas corpus and express a little outrage on my behalf ?

Yitshak Rabin said, “You only make peace with your enemy.” The antithesis of Chimpy’s “You are either with us or against us”. Anyone who really thinks that should stop watching Chuck Norris films – it means they are either moral imbeciles or fascists (or both in Chimpy’s case).

Where’s Captain Kirk with his “don’t talk to the enemy bit”? What a total prat – read his comments today. Hey even Kirk talked to Kang in the end…. what a poor choice for a web handle….I’m a turd and I’m in front of James T.

CNN is continuing the spin of the White House that Pelosi is alone in talking to Syria or is hijacking foreign policy – what librul media?

Even NPR perpetuated this “commander in chief” bullshit – he’s CIC of the armed forces, nothing more. Doesn’t the president serve at the people’s pleasure?

Quite Interesting to Compare the Sharp Contrasts between these two statements

I do think that, as a general rule – and this would go for Speaker of the House Pelosi and this apparent trip that she is going to be taking – that we don’t think it’s a good idea. We think that someone should take a step back and think about the message that it sends, and the message that it sends to our allies.

The Republicans released a statement that said, “We came because we believe there is an opportunity for dialogue … We are following in the lead of Ronald Reagan, who reached out to the Soviets during the Cold War

    #12 – dlet,
Actually no. When 9/11 happened, he was in preschool and spent the next day or so in hiding. He did not ensure even his spouse’s safety, much less the Nations. His ass was the number one issue. Sort of reminds me of his Air National Guard Service – AWOL. Thankfully, he crawled on top of a pile of rubble that was effusing tons of toxic particles. My son was there and offered W a full particulate & gas mask – W refused. He may predecease his parents for that show of political stupidity.

  19. Juan C says:

I wonder if Ethiopia´s statistics qualify, for the US, as as a country that violates Human Rights:

Life expectancy at birth, total (years) 42.5
Mortality rate, infant (per 1,000 live births) 110.4

Lets see what about Military spending:
In Ethiopia, the military budget is 10 times the water and sanitation budget — in Pakistan, 47 times.
Ouch!! Both countries allies of US, but US is clearly unaware of this, otherwise, the champion of freedom and democracy would considerate this, right?

    More.

Yeah. You are correct. He was technically on the job during 9/11. Just hundreds of miles away from DC and 10 minutes late in reacting to anything. The worst thing is about the 9/11 story in NYC is that over 3000 people may die because people thought it was better to have workers responding to the incident and moving rubble brick by brick than think about the health effects like any lowest grade first responder should.

Having a little trouble adjusting to normal life in society ? Freedom of thought isn’t much appreciated in the marines , so I can see your a little rusty at it .
A president who lost the popular vote in an election decided in a state where his brother appointed the bean counters and in which the SUPREMES decided the outcome anyways along party lines ! Who won a second election by .6 % of the popular vote tallied on electronic voting machines supplied by a major contributer to the bush political machine ,with no paper trail ( damn those hanging chads ).
An administration whose members ,oil and energy company executives ,wrote pre 911( PNAC ) that the US must invade the middle east inorder to control China and the developing world through control of oil , but that , and I quote ,” barring a national catastrophy it will be hard to galvanize the american public behind such a scheme !
A country which polls indicate !/3 believe the US government was directly involved in 911( Remember the Maine ?)
The worlds most important resource is oil and the mid east probably the most valuble region in terms of that resource is looking a lot like a disaster , as a result of the neo cons failed plans .This makes you feel safer ?

  34. Jackie Rawlings says:

Bush sent the GOP ahead of Pelosi to tell the Syrian President not to talk about White House cooperation in torture and other secret deals. Now with Bush’s reaction it didn’t work. The Syrian President will most likely tell Pelosi all the things Bush doesn’t want her to know. It’s all about the money Bush is spreading around. Waxman is there to find out about Cheney’s illegal deals. Now Bush has go to find a way of saying the President is lying but we know he isn’t.

    Well no, not really.
You’re basically reporting that regardless of destination, members of congress on diplomatic trips overseas will be assisted by embassies.
    What a shocker.

That would be “more” in the same way that everything past page 2 of How Embassies Work For Dummies is “more” info and “news”.

  39. Perry Logan says:

The article says the Republican delegation “had been discouraged from going” to Syria. So the Republicans defied their own Administration to go. Interesting.

  42. veritas says:

Bush lied again – yesterday – to the american people – more bold faced lies right in our faces!! He said his “surge” was supported by his Joint Chiefs of Staff – This has been proven to be the diametric opposite. He also said that his “surge” was supported by the Iraqi Commanders – wrong again! The Iraqis have stated the direct opposite.

It’s becoming obvious to all that George W. Bush is living in a deluded, pathological version of reality. He’s a pathological liar and has surrounded himself with liars and “yes men”, fall guys who have been brainwashed and are marching in lock step with this dictator.

The people need to rise up again and put this chimp in his place. He is NOT an Emperor or a King; in fact, it could be said that he is not even a “sane” human being.

  43. veritas says:

It’s become quite sad to see that his handlers allow him to make a liar and a fool out of himself before the american public any longer.

His infamous sneering is back, his stuttering has reached an all-time high, his phraseology is pathetic…..stammering….uh….uh….uh….and then when it’s clear that his brain is empty of a clue as to what to say, he puts that ugly sneer on his face as if the people don’t know what’s going on upstairs. It’s an embarrassment to have this “village heir idiot” representing this country. He’s beginning to look more like a criminal and a thug with each passing appearance he makes.

  44. veritas says:

I find this level of “overt hypocrisy” laughable; do they really believe that Bush will get some mileage out of criticizing Pelosi for visiting Syria when it’s known that some of his GOP mobsters have already done so; in fact, some Rethugs are accompanying Pelosi. Village idiots, all of them, who believe that the american people cannot see them for what they truly are….liars & hypocrites.

What I see as really occurring here is this: The Chimp and Howdy-Doody Ricey-Poo are very worried that diplomacy may, in fact, work. After all, what war profiteer would want peace?? What war profiteer would want diplomacy? What war profiteer would want anything BUT escalation? What war profiteer would not try to bully his way into snubbing his enemies precisely so he can stack the deck for another war?? We’ve got a Master Bully in the White House and he needs to be removed…

    IMPEACH NOW!

  45. veritas says:

What war profiteer would prefer dialogue and diplomacy over cold, hard cash from the humonguous ‘war machine’???? Just ask yourselves where our money has gone? Into whose slippery hands did that 9 Billion disappear and is still AWOL?? Into whose slippery fingers and offshore bank accounts is the taxpayer’s money going which, ostensibly, was for this war? Perhaps the money slipped into obscurity instead of buying body armor for our soldiiers? Perhaps the money slid away into some cronie’s slush fund instead of equipping our humvees? Perhaps the money was simply ’stolen’ by the powers that be “because they could” and believe that they will get away with it.

Let’s talk money with these thugs now. The american taxpayers have a right to know where the missing money is! And now!

  46. veritas says:

I hope Pelosi gets an ear full of what we’re up to….and no doubt she will which is precisely why Bush is criticizing and smearing her for attempting dialogue. He KNOWS what dialogue will produce: the facts about our torture program and then we’ll have another scandal next week: TORTURE-GATE!

  47. veritas says:

Maybe next week’s scandal will be “CheneyGate” when the people find out about the Dick, Cheney’s “secret deals” ??? Where’s the beef, Dubya? The people want to know where our money has gone!

  48. PoliticalCritic says:

Maybe Nancy Pelosi’s trip to Syria will prove beneficial after all. Who knows, she may even be able to mediate a resolution to the Iranian hostage crisis.

  49. Govnoed.com - World Incidents News Blog » What the hell is wrong with CNN? says:
