82 percent:

By Amanda Terkel on Apr 4th, 2007 at 2:20 pm

82 percent:

Number of Americans who “say the world is becoming more dangerous for the United States and its people, with 48 percent saying ‘much more dangerous.’” Seventy-three percent “say the United States is not doing a good job as a leader in creating a more peaceful and prosperous world.”

  2. TripMaster Monkey says:

Seventy-three percent “say the United States is not doing a good job as a leader in creating a more peaceful and prosperous world.”

And so the twenty-nine percenters become the twenty-seven percenters, as more and more people come to their senses and defect to the side of truth and reason.

  7. Tobey Tall says:

Would be interesting to do the same poll BUT instead Europe or Asia

That 73% would rocket to 97%

That poll shows me that 27% of Americans have no Brains at all

In the UK 98% said the war on Terror has made the world Less safe

The UK has one tenth the amount of People with no brains as America

    Amazing what polls show up

  8. JAD says:

Ha! This world will be more safe once we are done cleansing the middle east!

    That is the plan, right?

  9. barfly says:

    [flipping through rhetorical deck]

Fighting them over there, so we don’t …” nah, no good.

Winning the global war on … ” Too old — sounds soo 2003.

Islamofascists –” crap; that one was a good one, while it lasted.

Guess I’ll have to dip into the fall-back list: “we must endeavor to persevere.”

I hope no one recognizes the source.

  13. JPV says:

Of course Americans are less safe. The trumped up War on Terraâ„¢ (which can NEVER be won) is doing NOTHING but creating and attracting more Jihadists that despise the US.

The reason these terrorist exist in the first place, is because of our support of Israel and our meddling in the Middle East…

“We swore that America wouldn’t live in security until we live it truly in Palestine. This showed the reality of America, which puts Israel’s interest above its own people’s interest. America won’t get out of this crisis until it gets out of the Arabian Peninsula, and until it stops its support of Israel. This equation can be understood by any American child, but Bush, because he’s an Israeli agent, cannot understand this equation unless the swords threatened him above him head.”
    - Osama Bin Laden

Only a FOOL would believe the BS that they hate us because they are jealous of our lifestyle and values.

More meddling, in Mid East affairs, can only serve to make things worse for us in the long run.

We will someday have to pay for Bush’s insane blunder. It may not happen for years or decades, but we will indeed pay dearly for it eventually.

  14. KRank says:

“Seventy-three percent “say the United States is not doing a good job as a leader in creating a more peaceful and prosperous world.”

That must be the seventy-three percent that Rush Limbaugh identifies as “blithering idiots”.

  15. Peter says:

But how are we doing on the rape and pillage index??

    sarc off

  16. Jackie Rawlings says:

Well well now they pay attention. Bush stole the election in 2000 the American people did nothing. Bush won the 2004 election as American knew he was an idiot but as Karl Rove used Bush was born again and all the Christians follow Satan. Now that Americans see the results of Satan’s 6 year crime wave and chaos around the well with thousands of soldiers dead based on lies, injured troops living in crap and their dying from wounds eaten by maggots and living with mice/roaches/mold. Now American wake up to the truth. No world leaders believes a word the United States says look at the lies coming from the White House and it’s appointees. Connie Rice can’t do her job Speaker Pelosi has to do the Secretary of States job because the Middle East can’t trust a word Connie Rice says she lies so much. If you think the numbers are up now what till alot more of those secret crimes come to light. The new words will be IMPEACHMENT.

04/03/2007 – By Abdul Hameed Bakier (from Terrorism Monitor, March 29) – The al-Fajr Information Center, a jihadi organization, recently published the February 2007 issue of Technical Mujahid, a magazine released once every two months that is available online. The release marks the second issue of the publication. The various jihadi websites have posted links to different locations to download the publication, that way stifling any attempts by outside forces to remove the document from the web According to the editor-in-chief of Technical Mujahid, Abu al-Mothanna al-Najdi, the objectives of the magazine are to eradicate the phobia and anxiety suffered by those who refrain from participating in jihad because they erroneously believe that intelligence services are monitoring their every move. Additionally, the publication aims to spread a sense of security, vigilance and self-confidence, in a scientific way, among members of jihadi forums by educating them in jihadi propaganda and enhancing their knowledge of field operations. To achieve these objectives, the magazine is organized into six sections of technical training that are aimed at helping the mujahideen carry out certain tasks.

  25. Zimzone says:

Bush’s War on Freedom can only lead to WWIII.

Coexistenceis the key to this. We must respect other cultures and beliefs. America was founded on freedom from religious persecution, not persecuting people for their religious beliefs.

Terrorists exist, both abroad & here in the USA. That won’t change. Penalties for terrorism should be harsh & immediate.

Are Iraqis terrorists? No doubt some are.
Are Americans terrorists? Yes, we ‘grow them here’, too.

As long as we think we can stamp out all terrorism with brute force, we will continue to lose lives, property & credibility.

We must establish a Global Council, unlike the U.N., that fairly addresses coexistence and mutual causes for common good.

One Planet. One people. We must transcend political and religious dogma that have been responsible for the majority of wars.

Today’s conflicts, including Iraq, are prime examples of how far mankind has to go with it’s maturation process. Consider the fact that all health care in the USA, our National debt and a cure for cancer could have been paid for or solved just with the money we’ve spent in Iraq to date.

It’s so simple it defies logic. The tricky part is rising above Party & God to accomplish this feat. I’ve been an ordained minister with the Universal Life Church for 38 years. Our credo? Whatever you believe God to be; you’re right. Simple? Yes. Does it work? Absolutely.

Well, since the reps started this bullsh!T war and in turn have create more terrorists, making the country less safe, you guys lost the whole “We are stronger on defense” talking point. Nobody believes it anymore but apologists and neocons like you.

  44. Puesto says:

I think you are doing a good job, HOWEVER it seems you should not quote statistics or polls without citing them. Not good.

  45. Jason M. Hendler says:

    Spudge,

I truly hope that Barack Obama wins the Dem primary, so that we can have an unequivicable election on the War on Terror. You foist your candidate, and Reps will select theirs, and we will see who wins.

If Hill’reh is your candidate, she will jump all over the map and say anything, trying to be a hawk-dove or a dove-hawk, so it will give no clear answer, but Barack will make the decision clear.

  46. Jason M. Hendler says:

    #43, Juan,

Um, I think the allies in WWII designated the US as protector of liberties against the communist hordes. Now that communists are weak and Islamo-fascist strong (same difference), the US maintains vigilence against them.

Unfortunately, most all those who suffered most under fascism and communism are long dead, and their progeny seem unable to grasp the seriousness of the threat those movements pose, both domestically and internationally.

  47. JPark says:

What is the point of coming to this site if you do not want to engage in debate or discussion and are only going to post sh!t and then run away without reading any other posts?

  58. Arne Langsetmo says:

Holy f*ck. You mean we’re now down to only 18% “dead-enders”? Well, maybe we can cure that by drafting ‘em all and sending them to Iraq (in unarmoured HumVees)…. That’d be a “surge” I could agree with.

One way to ensure a more secure nation is to address the issues which contribute to terrorism in the first place.
