The US is full of monolingual idiots. I mean, that sounds harsh, but for a first world country, Americans are linguistic morons. I know kids here in Mexico who have NOTHING, yet they speak better in their foreign language (English) than my university classmates in advanced Spanish classes in the US.

Yours was a flawless mexican insult. Mine was from Argentina. For example, in Mexico, nobody would understand what is: La concha de tu madre, Newt. But in South America is almost as saying hello. :)

I thought the first rule of politics was when you’d dug a hole, stop digging. I guess that neither Mr. Bush nor Mr. Gingrich much believe in rules.

Why is he apologising now, if he didn’t say what we all thought he’d said, but something different altogether? Is he apologising to Hispanics because the put down was meant for someone else?
Or is he apologising because we misunderstood the way his explanation was misinterpreted and he actually wanted to insult both communities?
