“I’m the Richard Pombo of the next election,”

said Sen. James Inhofe (R-OK). “I understand that.” Richard Pombo — a former California congressman — was defeated in his reelection bid because he was plagued by allegations of corruption.

In most states, a wacky wavy inflatable arm flailing tube man could beat Inhofe. But in Oklahoma…

  3. Patrick1 says:

Good for you Inhofe, thank you for standing up for corruption and showing these liberals what a real congressman is like.

  4. nitpicker says:

    Let’s hope, Jimmy.

  5. Bob says:

Please, spare us reality-based Oklahomans and DO NOT seek reelection.

I’d vote for the wacky wavy inflatable arm flailing tube man: he’d have more intellectual capacity.

  6. Jake says:

Rep. Pombo was targeted by Rahm Emanuel and the Democrats for a serious challenge — Inhofe knows that he’s the next punching bag regardless of any corruption charges.

  7. Zimzone says:

I’m not sure Inhofe is as corrupt as incompetent.

    That’s a compliment, Jimmy.

Your views are straight out of the 18th century, but then you’re ahead of the Bushlickers by at least 400 years.

  8. Bob says:

No matter how corrupt (or incompetent) anyone is, it’s always a ‘partisan witch hunt’, ‘trumped-up charges’, or otherwise the ‘other side’s’ punching bag.

If half the energy used to attack ‘the other side’ was used constructively instead of destructively, we would all be a great deal better off.

  9. marge says:

So I suppose the reason Inhofe is so admant about global warning he is akin to bush…

Did you know he had a company that he was CEO of, and it went……..Horrors…….bankrupt…just like his leader. They had started an investigation of his corrupt actions by the SEC, but for some unknown reason they dropped the charges. Wonder whose butt he kissed, or is that par for the core for republicans. He went on to run for office a couple of times and lost than by a miracle he got backing from national republicans and got into congress.

What’s with all these republicans, none of them can run a company.
Oh yes — they can run it into the ground.

He’s just trying to come up with an excuse for cashing in his oil stocks and moving to Dubai…

AS an American, watching that gasbag, Inhofe, embarrasses the hell out of me! He is rude, self-righteous, and has a persecution complex almost as bad as DeLay. I can’t help but be reminded of dinosaurs when I see him. A rich, pasty white male who has listened to himself talk for far too long. I sure hope the people from Oklahoma give him the Pombo treatment. Where do I send my money?

  12. Karim says:

Inhofe is a fool who deserves to lose his Senate seat…but will probably keep it.

  13. gogreen says:

Good riddance to bad rubbish, if it happens. Inhofe is a poster boy for everything bad about the Republican party

  14. Vinnie says:

Just to clarify, as someone who lives in the area and read the local papers regularly, I don’t think Pombo lost because of the corruption charges. My take was that his extreme anti-environmentalist postions, such as trying to gut the Endangered Species Act, got groups like the Sierra Club to campaign heavily for his opponent.

  15. Spudge_Boy says:

Here is a perfect example of troll craziness. He wants people to stand up FOR corruption.

Jimmy Inhofe–I AM CURRENTLY PAINTING A BIG BULLSEYE ON YOUR MISERABLE BACK–BE PREPARED, YOU MISERABLE repugnant-repub rightwingnut crank fudge-pachyderm, GLOBAL WARMING DENIER, OBSTRUCTIONIST POINTY HEADED MORON, BOMBASTIC IMBECILE, FOOLISH FRAUD, IMPOTENT GERBIL-HUNG HALF-A-MAN, QUEER AND PERVERT, LYING HYPOCRITE AND BLASPHEMER, IN-HUMAN GARBAGE AND OFFAL, UNSUITABLE CARCASE FOR VULTURES, HYENAS AND MAGGOTS—NOW THAT’S REALLY SAYING SOMETHING ABOUT THE “QUALITY” OF HIS CARCASE!!!!!

  18. IraqVet says:

Well at least HE knows that millions in the U.S. thinks he’s a jackass, and he coincidentally confirmed that position with his statement.

But for the people of NE to acknowledge that? Hmmm…

    We shall see…

  19. IraqVet says:

    Oops…I meant (OK – Oklahoma)…

Sorry to the people of NE. Did not want to equate you with this IDIOT!

  20. TruthinessOverAll says:

Inhofe is, was and always will be a bought and paid-for whore for “Big Awl” . The people of Oklahoma must be SOOO PROUD!!!!

  21. Lisa says:

Um…actually Pombo was largely targeted because of his extreme anti-environmentalism — not his corruption.

And since liberals poured a lot of money and a lot of manpower into defeating Pombo, you should get the story straight.

Defenders of Wildlife didn’t open a field office in CA-11 because of Pombo’s corruption. It was because he was the greatest threat to environmental law since Congress was formed.

And if we target Inhofe in 2008, it will again be for the reason that he is a great threat to environmental protection and global warming regulation. He is a threat to the planet’s survival.

  22. Com-n-sense says:

Inhofe is the Thurman/Helms of today. How this caveman mentality can still exist is the mystery of the ages. Oklahoma is one state I wouldn’t even fly over if this is the class of person they elect to represent them.

Yeah, and they did the same thing with the Federal budget… ran it into the ground.

  24. Splash says:

What Lisa said at #20. Pombo’s a poster child for the Wise Use movement. In addition to what was mentioned, he also wanted to privatize the National Parks, open them to mining and logging, and re-write the Endangered Species Act to effectively kill it. All this is what fired up his broad-based opposition – the corruption allegations were kind of the icing on the cake, if even that.
