Wolfowitz’s gal pal shown favoritism at World Bank.
Murray Waas reports on an internal World Bank memo alleging that Shaha Riza, Paul Wolfowitz’s romantic interest, “was given a ‘promotion [that] clearly does not conform’ to bank procedures,” and that “she was then given a raise ‘more than double the amount allowed’ by the bank’s rules.” Also, “Wolfowitz reportedly attempted to circumvent the rules so he would be able to continue to work with Riza,” shifting her to work at the State Department’s public diplomacy office “even though her salary was still to be paid by the World Bank.”

Shaha, born in Lybia of Saudi/Syrian parents, she used to be married to Bulent Ali Riza before they were divorced and she moved to the US in the late 80’s. Since 1997, she has managed to get herself into several high profile government jobs and Wolfy’s shorts as well.

Jake – no doubt – and I think I made it clear that I was not in favor of their behavior. It was reprehensible, immoral and unethical.
Extra-curricular nookie has its consequences – I think Bill paid a pretty big price – impeachement, not to mention Jay Leno making a career of talking about it should be punishment enough for any one. Monica will always be a punchline.
