Good for Edwards! At least he’s showing that he has personal integrity and will not be associated with a fake news/propaganda station like Fox News. Fox is the national joke in terms of serious, factual news so anyone who appears on their show denegrades themselves by even being there. He’s calling them for the fraud that they are by NOT gracing their slimebag, phoney station with his presence.

  2. Jake says:

Is he dropping out of the race to take care of his dying wife then?

  3. GodfryDaniel says:

Good for him, hope other candidates also realize there can be no fair “debate” when Fox News is involved.

    John Edwards ‘08!

The same thing Bush was afraid of when he refused to debate the president of Iran.

    Feingold/Gore ‘08!

    Fox Rabies

I hope the rest of them follow his lead. Fox has no business pretending it is a legitimate news channel. Fox can stick with it’s constant oral copulation of the Grand Old Party. We should nto legitimize them one bit.

Intelligent response! I see you learned your debating skills in a public school.

  12. progrock says:

What exactly is gained by NOT going on Fox? They will push their agenda and malign the various Dem candidates regardless. I’d prefer to see a candidate who feels their message is strong enough and important enough that everyone should hear it, regardless of their agenda.

If he went on Fox and appeared rational and composed amongst the standard pack of idiots at Fox, there may actually be a few Fox viewers that hear a word or two Edwards says and it makes sense, or at least it occurs to them he isn’t a anti-christian, socialist, gay man out to take their guns away. If most, or even practically all, of the Fox viewers just absorb the Fox propaganda, so what? Would Edwards be making strides with them by not going on that are somehow lost by showing up?

Please, give me a candidate who can speak to hatred, ignorance, and lies, not turn away because it’s not “fair”.

Coming from someone who is afraid of debating Zooey!!!

  15. spud says:

If there was any uncertainty as to Fox’s objectivity, it was put to rest when they attacked Democratic candidates, Democratic constituency groups, and the Nevada Democratic party when their last proposed debate was cancelled for lack of support.

    Ha! That’s great! Don’t reward the cry-babies!

  16. Marie says:

He was the first to drop out of the Fox (Faux) debates and he is now dropping out of the CBC debates. He is consistent and credible.
Trolls will make their usual nasty and irrelevant comments as #2 does, but that’s because they are inherently disagreeable people who have aligned themselves with a political party that has become indefensible, so they lash out at anyone with principles.

    Comment by michael

It WAS an intelligent response, thank you. Edwards, in all likelihood, does not want to give Fox a direct opportunity to distort, spin, lie, or smear (”Fox Rabies” or “Fox Pox”) through appearing on one of their “news” programs. Nor does he want to provide them legitimacy. I do apologize for using my short-hand, sarcastic, snarky comment as I should have been more sensitive to your inability to extrapolate.

  18. DutchHenry says:

Good for Edwards.I won’t be surprised if the debate(CBC)& faux news was part of Clinton’s deal with Murdoch.Remember who hosted a Fund raising Party in Manhattan for her,Well, good ole Murdoch himself.

  19. Bluedog49 says:

If the head of ABC News declared that ABC News would “advance the Democratic agenda,” would Republicans take part in a debate sponsored by ABC? Rupert Murdoch told a British interviewer that he created FOX News Channel to “advance the Republican agenda.” Why should any Democrat give them the respect of treating them like a normal news operation?

  20. Marlow says:

Good for you, John. Doesn’t sound like much, but at least we know you can smell shit before you step in it. I like that in a leader.

That’s a bunch of BS! He knows that people like Chris Wallace won’t hold back and toss him underhand softball questions like CNN or CNBS!

  28. michael says:

“Why should any Democrat give them the respect of treating them like a normal news operation?

    Comment by Bluedog49 — April 6, 200″

If they believe in their agenda and can advance it intelligently, why not? Aren’t you trying to reach that group of people who currently have no intention of voting for a Democrat? They know they will be grilled on Fox, so they run………

  29. michael says:

WoW! TP removed one of my posts that simply stated that Edwards is afraid of someone like Chris Wallace because he knows that Chris won’t throw underhand softball questions to him like CNN & CNBC.

  30. Bluedog49 says:

michael, I don’t really think it’s that they know they’ll be “grilled” on FOX. I think it’s the fact that they’ve seen how FOX uses its own footage to distort their positions and what they’ve said. Since they know for a fact (straight from Murdoch’s mouth) that FOX News is there to advance the Republican agenda, they assume FOX will use any debate footage as they see fit to that end. They get enough of this kind of thing on networks which haven’t stated their allegence to the Repub agenda. Do you ever watch Hardball? Please. During the 2000 election, Matthews kept saying that Gore “didn’t look like an American,” and he kept saying he like to go to a barbecue with W. And, you must know that FOX is even more of challenge than that.

  31. bob (not the hacker) says:

wow! i didn’t know edwards had already participated in presidential debates on cnn and cnbc in which he got “softball” questions! must have missed ‘em. how’d he do?

  34. michael says:

“The Democrats should do a complete boycott of FOX. They should not appear on their programs and not grant their reporters interviews.

    Comment by CaptainVideo — April 6, 2007″

Wow! You’re that scared of us?

  35. ST says:

Maybe someone should tell Jake that WE ARE ALL DYING. From the moment that you are born, YOU ARE DYING. You just don’t know when that day will come, any more than Elizabeth Edwards does. You could die tomorrow, Jake. She could die 10 years from now, and outlive you. Who knows?

Or are you TOO STUPID to realize that?

  36. ST says:

Hey, Michael? It has nothing to do with BEING SCARED OF FAUX.

It is about 1) not legitimizing FAUX VIEWS CHANNEL, and 2) not GENERATING REVENUE for them, which they are just going to turn around and use to smear Democrats with.

So Michael, are Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity afraid of “LIBERAL CALLERS” who their screeners refuse to allow on the air with them to debate their rubbish?

  37. ST says:

That “reaching a group of voters” argument is a bunch of nonsense. If FAUX VIEWS was the only channel that they had on their television sets, then that argument might have some validity. Otherwise, it’s just narrowminded and ignorant.

  38. annefrank says:

John Edwards continues – leading the way!

  39. Jay Randal says:

Bravo to Edwards, but Hillary Clinton will go on FOX even if nobody else shows up. If she is seen on TV kissing the most ugly man in the world, Rupert Murdoch, then her run for the presidency would be terminated.

  40. TerrytheTurtle says:

Murdoch thinks he is a ‘kingmaker’ – he made Margaret Thatcher, John Major and Tony Blair…. he made Chimpy too. I’ll dance on his grave when he dies…

  41. Raymond Funamoto says:

John Edwards IS AFRAID OF NOTHING, ESPECIALLY FOX(tm)-FAUX NEWS!!!!! WELL DONE, John!!!!! AND TO THE SWIFT-BOAT-SHIT-SMEARERS ON THIS BLOG AND OTHER SO-CALLED MSM OUTLETS—”UP YOURS, CREEPS!!!!!”

  42. big papa says:

    Good for Mr. Edwards…

…let’s hope ALL Dems follow suit…

…Fox can ONLY lose them cerdibility…

    …as for the CBC…

…any one of them who goes along with this farce…

    …should be replaced…

…time to get rid of ALL of the Armstrong Williamses…
