Bill O’Reilly: JFK Conspiracy Theorist

Fox News host Bill O’Reilly has been criticizing Rosie O’Donnell over her blog post repeating a 9/11 conspiracy theory.

O’Reilly declared that “you can’t allow” someone to “make anti-American remarks…accusing your own government of murder.” He called claims that the U.S. government acted in a criminal way “irresponsible and dangerous.”

oreilly.JPG

Too bad for O’Reilly, tapes from his days on the Peabody Award-winning Inside Edition are still floating around.

Watch below as O’Reilly spreads the JFK conspiracy theory that the CIA secretly supported assassin Lee Harvey Oswald:

Digg It!

Transcript:

Bill O’Reilly, 4/2/07:

O’REILLY: The problem, once you get into an area where you are spreading propaganda, OK, which is where she is with the 9/11 conspiracy… See, you can’t allow someone like that to go on and make anti-American remarks, in which they are, accusing your own government of murder, of putting people in harm’s way and then have nothing else to balance it.

O’REILLY: Well, Ms. O’Donnell and her radical pals are basically telling the world the USA is a criminal nation … O’Donnell and actor Charley Sheen are also peddling the 9/11 conspiracy theory that the attack on the World Trade Center was an inside job. Never mind that nonsense has been debunked by “Popular Mechanics” using scientific evidence that is beyond dispute.

    *snort*

    Nice catch.

  2. Kryptik Says:

So...making claims to illegal activity on behalf of the government is dangerous and reckless? Even if it's true?

I guess O'Reilly's going back to the old reliable: questioning dear leader is treason.

I'm sorry, O'Reilly, but I'm going to use my right to free speech to denounce the actions of what I feel is a criminal administration all I want. This is not a dictatorship, no matter how much Bush, O'Reilly, and his ilk want it to be.

  3. Zooey Says:

O’Reilly declared that “you can’t allow” someone to “make anti-American remarks…accusing your own government of murder.”

Last time I looked, Billo, we still have First Amendment rights.

Right now, the USA is a criminal nation.

    Nico,

I love your strikeout on the Peabody Award. So snarky.

    Really?

We can no longer speak out against our government?

So all those brave men who died for the last two centuries so we could, died in vain?

Someone let me know when we start handing out "Liberal stars", so I can catch a slow boat to Europe.

That's reaaly not the point now is it? The point is that Billo has forgotten that this is a country where we are allowed to speak out against our government...at least for now.

We can't have Americans, especially the Pundits, wanting to poison the Judiciary section of our government! It is un-American!

Your right on one point, however -YOU ARE guessing.

  22. James Says:

Talk about O-Reilly all you want. The truth is, he became a mouth-piece for his masters a long time ago. If you don't like what he says, here's an idea: give him five million dollars today. He'll change his mind tomorrow.

However, his report on Inside Edition rings with the truth. It's not a conspiracy "theory". It's a conspiracy FACT. Oswald WAS working with Anti-Castro groups which were being operated by CIA assets. And he WAS also posing as a pro-communist fanatic, ostensibly so he could infiltrate pro-communist groups in America. And there's evidence now to suggest that he was also INFORMING on those groups for the FBI, because Kennedy had ordered them shut down.

Now does any of that mean that there was another shooter on the Grassy Knowl?

Not necessarily. But it COULD explain why there wasn't a rigorous investigation after the assassination. It could be that neither organization wanted to be connected to the guy who shot Kennedy.

Lastly, look up "Oil Depletion Allowance" and "The Kennedy Act".

    Food for thought.

It may have happened nearly forty-five years ago, but I haven't forgotten.

  23. Dan W. Says:

Wow, Think Progress is almost giving credence to the notion that Bush may have LIED to us about what happened on 9/11. What's next -- will Daily Kos lift its ban of any discussion of 9/11?

  24. Rebel in CA Says:

    No.

What Ms O'Donnell and her radical pals are telling the world, is the USA is being RUN by criminals.

  47. Briseadh na Faire Says:

There are at least 2 prominent conspiracy theories about the events of 9/11.

    1. people inside a cave in Afghanistan conspired with a few religious zealots to attack the United States.

    2. people inside the White House conspired with a few fascist/imperialist zealots to create a new "Pearl Harbor" to manipulate the people and Congress into an unprecendented expansion of Presidental Power.

The "official explanation" supports theory #1. Yet no criminal investigation was ever conducted. The only official investigation conducted was limited to determining what, if any, lapses in intelligence gathering allowed the events to occur. In other words, the only official investigation was performed solely for the purpose of finding and naming a scapegoat.

As a result, the "official explanation" accepted certain facts as true which were physically and technologically impossible.

Bush has started 2 wars because of events which were never fully investigated. He has used 9/11 to justify killing hundreds of thousands of children, women, and men.

And, with impeachment off the table, he will cause the deaths of thousands more.

  61. dv909 Says:

The government IS responsible for 9/11.

1 - The various intelligence agencies failed to communicate with each other regarding a number of suspicious activities that ultimately were linked to preparation for the terrorist attacks on that horrible day.

2 - Bush received an intelligence report stating that Bin Laden and his group were "...determined to strike..." within the United States. Bush and his administration did absolutely nothing to raise the awareness of that forewarning with anybody. With the immigration authorities, with the shipping ports, the transportation authorities.

Let me spell it out for the right wing retards.

    N O T H I N G spells 'nothing.'

Therefore, I blame the U.S. government for 9/11.

Now all you right wing retards can go f**k yourselves with a picture of George and feel the pain.

    Comment by Ringo

I should hope not. They are being as lazy as most of the other reporters nowadays.

  64. I WORFEUS Says:

On the one side, we have the anti-conspiricy theorists, who believe there is absolutely no ties to the administration or any federal people of any kind.

On the other side we have conspiricy theorists, who think Karl Rove gave the terrorists flight training.

I think the answer, as with most things, lies somewhere inbetween.

If there is complicty, its probably more of a "look the other way" thing, and instead of active involvement, it was more of just letting them get away with it so we'd have a reason to hate them, and Bush would have a war mandate. After all, he was tanking in the polls, and the term "Lame Duck" was being bantered about just before 911, and thanks to 911 he shot up in the polls into record breaking approval ratings. Anyone who says the Bush administration did not benefit from 911, is just lying to themselves.

In other words, there are questions.

Lots of people have questions, and I don't see why there would be any resistence to seeking answers to those questions, especially from the White House. In fact, the fact that there is any resistence at all, much less the stonewalling we've seen, raises a red flag in and of itself.

There is no doubt we need to seek the truth, and there is also no doubt, that no matter how long the Bush adminisration stonewalls, and says "we didn't do nuttin", sooner or later, there will be investigations, and the truth will come out.

And God help you people if they'res anything there.

  67. Philip Says:

Well said Briseadh na Faire, the 9/11 commission started from the official theory and worked backwards to "make the pieces fit".(amazingly similar to the cherry picking of pre-Iraq War intel, isn't it?)

The commission never dealt with the actual collapse of the buildings and the destruction of WTC7 was apparrently so baffling they simply left out the symmetrical implosion of a 47 story, highly redundant skyscraper into its own footprint in 6.6 seconds- as if it wasn't worth mentioning.

The government simply states that "global collapse ensues", is this the sort of in-depth scientific analysis our 11 million dollars bought?(one of the smallest budgets ever in modern history for such a massive federal investigation, btw- the Challenger disaster received 50 million and the Clinton investigation 98 m)

Nevermind the fact that there's no energy nor mechanism for global collapse and none has ever been given by official sources(tests run by UL verify that hydrocarbon fires could NOT weaken the trusses enough to even initiate collapse, let alone global collapse in under 13 seconds).

Yet BORe has the audacity to claim the facts are on his side. (without actually discussing ANY facts, that would just be a waste of time- right Orally?)

This is the Merriam-Webster definition of treason: the offense of attempting by overt acts to overthrow the government of the state to which the offender owes allegiance or to kill or personally injure the sovereign or the sovereign's family.

Here's your assignment: contrast and compare the difference between the above definition and speculating on a conspiracy.

Actually, as a woman, I feel quite fortunate to be an American. This country once was great, and will be great again, if we're very lucky.

I am not blind to this administration's attempt to destroy this country. Why are you satisfied with the condition of this country, Hag? Do you think that when the shit hits the fan, you're safe because of some warped ideology? Don't count on it.

I bet Professor Steven Jones know more than non-existent 70 researchers Popular Mechanics talked to.

Popular Mechanics lied. FEMA and NiST disagree on irreconcilable points.

    DEAL WITH IT.

The WTC tower blue prints were released and they prove the official explanation is an absolute joke.

There is a difference between a coment within a blog, which in my opion is a personal opinion and doing something that creates publicity based on an opion rather than fact.

The right to free speech is something that I am proud of, providing of course it is done within a personal platform and not a national one.

The fact that I know about this, is because Bill O Reilly, brought this to me attention. otherwise I would never have known

Count me in. And Bill was right about Oswald and his CIA connections. How many thinking people here believe in the single shooter/magic bullet theory?

It looks like he was a REPORTER for Inside Edition, not a commentator. It also looks to me like he was reporting facts that had been compiled by the Inside Edition writers.
I think in Rosie's case, she is speaking her opinion, as the O'Reilly Factor is Bill's opinion. Neither of them considers themselves a reporter.
I think this comparison used to discredit Bill's reaction to Rosie --- has little credibility.

Kennedy was gulled by the CIA and let the spies lead him into the Bay of Pigs invasion, which failed primarily because Kennedy, after realizing he had been duped, refused to authorize air power. This infuriated the CIA
