Pelosi's trip to Syria is just another very public reminder to the world that the Bush White House has no real foreign policy and no desire to talk to people Dick Cheney does not like. When the White House gets their advice from neocons like Feith, Kristol, and Perle--can they expect things to go right? These guys have been wrong about every single foreign policy decision. It will be interesting to see what "advice" the Bush Administration gave Britain during their Iran crisis this past week.
#3 - It's interesting that the Iranian people that the US took into "custody" in january of this year were released at the same time that the British soldiers were released.
Of course, there was no connection at all between the exchanging. . . . er, um. . . .. "release" of hostages.
I agree that there is blatant hypocrisy, but you better get use to the fact that Nancy Pelosi is going to endure criticsm. Every speaker of the house since Foley has been scrutizined very carefully. She's become the face of the Republican-to-Democratic power shift, and will have to weigh what she says and does, as it may be manipulated by the media.
I personally feel that if she's going to make trips abroad, especially to volatile areas in the world, that she should include moderate Republicans in her efforts. I think the Dems need to make an attempt to focus on policy-solution in a bipartisan way, to prove that they can rise above the petty partisan politics of Cheney and Rove, as well as prove to Americans that they are competent (by soliciting solution ideas from both parties).
What is CNN anyway ?
Oh yeah . . . seems like I remember accidently stopping by their station
while they were on the 'runaway bride' story for a month.
I used to think Barbara Starr must be a great reporter because she has the face of a dead sheep. Then she came on one time firint off Bushevik talking points about the Escalation...sorry the Surge(tm).
Now, well she's just the Bushevik stenographer who looks like a dead sheep.
When I heard Suzzane Malveaux ask if Pelosi's trip was just a "big wet kiss to President Al Assad", I wondered how many "big wet" ones she's planted on George W.
I've written to CNN numerous times, mainly about Glenn Beck and his ridiculous hate-speech. Nothing has changed, nor will it. The only way to have an impact is to boycott their sponsors. Hit them where it really hurts...their wallets.

I've stopped watching the network completely now. Its utterly sick.
I still watch the 15 seconds of what's good about CNN (Jack Cafferty) and I still watch Larry King (Sure, he's absent minded, but he's likely the only impartial interviewer left on planet Earth).
This blog could do more to organize its readers in this struggle against the corporate media. Just as media matters, move.org and other progressive sites will link you to a page with a form letter that you can personalize and send; as well as contact numbers to encourage a phone campaign. Also needed is a forward option so we can spread the word and amplify the movement. It is bad enough that CNN is becoming the next FOX, but now Matt Lauer on NBC. Rosie O'Donnel can only do so much to offset this administrations propaganda machine. We need to do some work ourselves and get other real patriots involved. If 200,000 people can donate money online to a presidential candidate then there must be millions of people that can put some pressure on the corporate media to report the real news in a fair and balanced way. Think Progress can help this happen in a big way.
CNN Europe is just as bad. The try to promote the failed American schtick to the unsuspecting countries particularly in eastern Europe.
I wonder if the paranoid Yanks would get upset if a Voice of Europe radio frequency with all associated truths of the world were beamed into mainstream America ? Probably not, the yanks are too busy concentrating on the affairs of bimbos and losers in the entertainment world.
LIKE SPEAKER PELOSI TOLD THE YELLOW-BELLIED-, NOT "WHITE" house, "PUT UP AND DO YOUR JOB OF DIPLOMACY WITH SYRIA, OR SHUT UP, AND IXNAY ON PRESSURING Olmert, YOUR LAPDOG, TO GIVE FALSE LYING STATEMENTS TO THE PRESS!!!!!" April 6th, 2007 at 11:23 amCNN unfortunately has decided to continue helping the Bush Regime. That is a criminal action and American public will never forget it either.
