The New York Times reports, via Mahablog:
Ms. Pelosi, in a telephone interview from Lisbon on Friday, said she could not account for the Bush administration’s assault, which she at one point equated to a tantrum. (She said her children were teasing her about Mr. Cheney’s accusation of bad behavior.) Defending her trip, Ms. Pelosi said that members of Congress had a responsibility to play a role in national security issues and that they needed to be able to gather information on their own, and not be dependent on the White House.
“I am used to the administration; nothing surprises me,” she said. “Having said that, I hope we can have the opportunity to convey to the president what we saw.”
Temper,temper.

April 7th, 2007 at 1:56 pmOld Ogre Cheney and Pubescent Bush can’t handle the fact that a classy individual like Nancy Pelosi who is articulate, beautiful, and intelligent is “outshining them”. I think it’s great! They’re clearly acting out like two rotten, spoiled juveniles.

I would think so….but, again, that implies that they’ve ever had the ability to handle either of their jobs which, sadly, is being proven repeatedly to not be accurate.

April 7th, 2007 at 2:32 pmAdult, professional, thoughtful leadership is defining Pelosi’s term as speaker, and I am pleased with her willingness to counter the insults and accusations with truth and adherence to national goals.
All this effort by the right-wing and their mediot minions to mischaracterize Pelosi’s trip could have been made toward real diplomacy. But these juveniles don’t play that game.
Yes, she is “showing them up”, but only because they have proved incapable of competence. While I recognize the neocon instinct to save face and excuse or rationalize all the Bush foreign policy failures, I cannot forgive them for their partisanship in the face of real international crises. This nation is more important than neocon posturing, and thank goodness Pelosi and many leaders on both sides recognize that.

Bush’s Military Commissions Act insulated them from criminal prosecution under U.S. law. International law prohibits the death penalty.
(That’s why Saddam and his deputies were tried in Iraq, as opposed to under an international tribunal. Bush wanted to see him hung, before he could testify about all the U.S. assistance in obtaining and using WMD.)

April 7th, 2007 at 3:34 pmEverybody has an opinion about next Tuesday’s midterm congressional election in the U.S. – including senior terrorist leaders interviewed by WND who say they hope Americans sweep the Democrats into power because of the party’s position on withdrawing from Iraq, a move, as they see it, that ensures victory for the worldwide Islamic resistance.
The terrorists told WorldNetDaily an electoral win for the Democrats would prove to them Americans are “tired.”
They rejected statements from some prominent Democrats in the U.S. that a withdrawal from Iraq would end the insurgency, explaining an evacuation would prove resistance works and would compel jihadists to continue fighting until America is destroyed.
They said a withdrawal would also embolden their own terror groups to enhance “resistance” against Israel.
“Of course Americans should vote Democrat,” Jihad Jaara, a senior member of the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades terror group and the infamous leader of the 2002 siege of Bethlehem’s Church of the Nativity, told WND. ”

April 7th, 2007 at 4:26 pmTop Ten Signs You’re a Fundamentalist Christian (like MA)
10 – You vigorously deny the existence of thousands of gods claimed by other religions, but feel outraged when someone denies the existence of yours.
9 – You feel insulted and “dehumanized” when scientists say that people evolved from other life forms, but you have no problem with the Biblical claim that we were created from dirt.
8 – You laugh at polytheists, but you have no problem believing in a Triune God.
7 – Your face turns purple when you hear of the “atrocities” attributed to Allah, but you don’t even flinch when hearing about how God/Jehovah slaughtered all the babies of Egypt in “Exodus” and ordered the elimination of entire ethnic groups in “Joshua” including women, children, and trees!
6 – You laugh at Hindu beliefs that deify humans, and Greek claims about gods sleeping with women, but you have no problem believing that the Holy Spirit impregnated Mary, who then gave birth to a man-god who got killed, came back to life and then ascended into the sky.
5 – You are willing to spend your life looking for little loopholes in the scientifically established age of Earth (few billion years), but you find nothing wrong with believing dates recorded by Bronze Age tribesmen sitting in their tents and guessing that Earth is a few generations old.
4 – You believe that the entire population of this planet with the exception of those who share your beliefs — though excluding those in all rival sects – will spend Eternity in an infinite Hell of Suffering. And yet consider your religion the most “tolerant” and “loving.”
3 – While modern science, history, geology, biology, and physics have failed to convince you otherwise, some idiot rolling around on the floor speaking in “tongues” may be all the evidence you need to “prove” Christianity.
2 – You define 0.01% as a “high success rate” when it comes to answered prayers. You consider that to be evidence that prayer works. And you think that the remaining 99.99% FAILURE was simply the will of God.
1 – You actually know a lot less than many atheists and agnostics do about the Bible, Christianity, and church history – but still call yourself a Christian.

April 7th, 2007 at 4:34 pmit’s about time somebody recognized this maladministration for what it is — a three ring circus comprising political cronys and incompetents. The entire Justice Department is laden with bush-league lawyers who received their degrees from Pat Robertson’s School of Law and Bible Study School. They have forced competent career prosecutors out and replaced them with political hacks; they have replaced competent Intelligence agents with political tools who put just the right “spin” on the “facts”; they have looted the treasury, committed and continue to commit war crimes and crimes against humanity; the list is almost endless.
Although I applaud anyone who, like Speaker Pelosi, publicly equates the Preznit’s petulant behavior with that of a temper tantrum, such as one that might be thrown by a three year old (apologies to three year olds) I hardly think it’s newsworthy, compared to what MUST be done to address the litany of crimes and offenses by these souless motherfuckers.

April 7th, 2007 at 5:07 pmBeing an adherent in the ID theory – I believe the earth is billion…and billions of years old.
You mean 5 billion? You think you’d know a thing like that if you believe it…
ID does not accept that the Earth is “billions and billions” of years old. They say about 10,000. Or are you saying Duane Gish, leading ID “Scientist” doesn’t know what he is talking about?
If you buy into the ID hypothesis, then explain to me the fact that human anatomy is greatly flawed. Explain things like male breasts, pseudogenes, the appendix, the backwards eye, the coccyx, etc.
There is no ID. The planet and universe look exactly the way they would through a series of natural events. Only an utter moron wouldn’t accept the reality of this and that Science can and has proven that the Christian god does not exist by model testing, therefore leaving ID in the trash bin. Even Christian Universities are how having enough of the concept… Read the real news.
I think evolution is a proven scientific theory. I also think a “Master Designer†(AKA: God) conceived and implemented the design.
There is NO design. ZERO. Evolution, which you say that you accept, shows that there is no ID. The two are totally exclusionary of one another. Either you believe in ID or you accept evolution (reality). There is no option C for ‘both’.
You choose not to believe that – so what, that’s your choice. But you twist and spin so much, you resemble a whirling dervish…..

But…but…but…I thought playing the lottery was the same as gambling, and gambling is a sin as told in the Bible…???

LOL… No doubt he ignores that part of the bible. Such hypocrites.
I’ve started reading the book “Losing Faith in Faith” by Dan Barker. I had seen several of his quotes around and thought they were all brilliant, so I tracked down teh book. It took me a month to get a copy as it was initially published 15 years ago – but it’s really been very interesting to read the story of a man who went from a devout and conservative Evanglical Preacher to an Atheist. Ultimately, reason and thinking were the catalysts, but the hypocrisy of the Fundies didn’t help the religious cause…

April 7th, 2007 at 6:00 pmMA – further evidence that the bible and evolution are not compatatble…
“The Hebrew word for ‘day’ is ‘yom’ and this word can occasionally be used to mean an indefinite period of time, if the content warrants. In the overwhelming preponderance of its occurrences in the O.T., however, it means a literal day… Still further, the plural form of the word (Hebrew ‘yamim’) is used over 700 times in the O.T. and always, without exception, refers to literal ‘days.’” (The Bible Has the Answers, Henry Morris, p. 94).
Henry Morris is a “creation scientist” and runs the Creation Institute – which exists for the sole purpose of validating ID as a Science (and is failing at). He’s not quite as irrational as Duane Gish, his employee – but once you get to their level of insane batshit irrational, it doesn’t really matter all that much if you’re a tad less or a tad more than someone else…
April 7th, 2007 at 6:02 pmUnbe “notes” -” You mean 5 billion? You think you’d know a thing like that if you believe it…”
I don’t care – billions or 5 billion – neither impact my life one whit.
“ID does not accept that the Earth is “billions and billions†of years old. They say about 10,000. Or are you saying Duane Gish, leading ID “Scientist†doesn’t know what he is talking about?”
I don’t know – or care about Duane Who-ever – I’ve told you what I think and what I believe and could careless what his opinion is or yours for that matter
“There is NO design. ZERO. Evolution, which you say that you accept, shows that there is no ID.
You don’t KNOW that for a fact. Maybe there is a Plan – unfortunately, you aren’t privy to it – neither am I, for that matter. I believe God designed and planned evolution. Period. What you think is YOUR business.
I would like to compliment you on the certainty YOUR opinion, based on the facts you have gleaned – the ONE true belief system. For your sake, I HOPE you’re right….
You enjoy picking at your nits. I’ve watched you engage in “intellectual” and semantic arm wrestling and tug of war with your friends and foes. Find someone to play with….like Zoooey….
April 7th, 2007 at 6:05 pm“Six days shalt thou labor, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the Sabbath. . . . in it thou shalt not work… For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth… and rested the seventh day
—Exodus 20:9-11.
If a day means something other than 24 hours, then MA, please explain the above scripture… and those like it.
A day means a day. Even Genesis defines it accordlingly when referencing morning and evening to talk about the sun and the moon ruling those two aspects of the 24 hour long day.

April 7th, 2007 at 6:14 pmI don’t care – billions or 5 billion – neither impact my life one whit.
Because it’s all about YOU? Yes, we know that’s your stance.
But it does impact your credibility. And as we tell you – you have none. This is one reason. You don’t actually think – just believe what you’re told to believe. I know this from personal experience. I never knew what I believed either as a Catholic. In contrast – as an Atheist, I know exactly what I think and why – because I decided…
I don’t know – or care about Duane Who-ever – I’ve told you what I think and what I believe and could careless what his opinion is or yours for that matter
But as someone who always defers to authority – you cannot claim to not care about a man who represents what you believe.
The problem is the fact that you ‘believe’ and do not ‘think’.
You don’t KNOW that for a fact. Maybe there is a Plan – unfortunately, you aren’t privy to it – neither am I, for that matter. I believe God designed and planned evolution. Period. What you think is YOUR business.
If you actually ever read anything by Scientists, you would know that I can say for a FACT that the Christian god can be shown to not exist through a series of tests of his ‘word’.
If your god planned evolution, then explain how the appendix is intelligent… If you cannot, it is because you don’t really believe, you just have no spine to think for yourself so you do what you’re told. Otherwise, you’d be able to explain why you believe what yo do. And you can’t – while I can and do…
I would like to compliment you on the certainty YOUR opinion, based on the facts you have gleaned – the ONE true belief system. For your sake, I HOPE you’re right….
It’s not a BELIEF system. It’s an acceptance of facts based on the reality that Science can demonstrate that in clinical trials – your god fails. Meaning, he does not exist.
Frankly, given the choice between worshipping a hypocritical, murdering, judgmental god or going to some imagined hell – I’d rather take the damnation. Fortunately for me, there is also zero proof of any form of afterlife.
You enjoy picking at your nits. I’ve watched you engage in “intellectual†and semantic arm wrestling and tug of war with your friends and foes.
No, actually, I like intelligence. You clearly do not. You demonstrate it everytime you post, you coward.
Jealous that I can debate? If not, stop acting like it. It’s pathetic.

April 7th, 2007 at 6:20 pmHere is proof of what I claim MA. I even wrote this myself. I dare you to do the same, and bet you cannot:
The Christian bible repeatedly declares that the prayers of their followers will be heard and answered. It even offers numerous examples of specific prayers that have been answered. In fact, many of those answered prayers refer to the health of others.
Deuteronomy 4:7 (New International Version): What other nation is so great as to have their gods near them the way the LORD our God is near us whenever we pray to him?
Psalm 102:17 (New International Version): He will respond to the prayer of the destitute; he will not despise their plea.
Matthew 7:7-8 (NAB) Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives; and the one who seeks, finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.
Matthew 21:22 (New International Version): If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.” (Jesus)
Mark 11:24 (New International Version): Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. (Jesus)
John 14:13-14 (NAB) And whatever you ask in my name, I will do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything of me in my name, I will do it.
James 5:-14:15 (ASV): Is any among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: and the prayer of faith shall save him that is sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, it shall be forgiven him.
(In fact there were 365 passages that contained the word ‘pray’ in a word search at the online BibleGateway.com)
In spite of these overt promises for divine intervention in times of need, a Duke University study on prayer, conducted solely by people of faith, found otherwise. The study was conducted with coronary patients over the course of a 3-year clinical trial. Its published results had to conclude, based on their findings, that prayer has no significant consequence on a patient’s health, despite copious biblical quotations to the contrary.
Its double-blind trials divided patients awaiting angioplasty surgery, who were selected at random by a computer, into two groups – those who received intercessory prayer from 12 different religious organizations across the planet (but did not know that they were being prayed for), and those who did not (and did not know that they weren’t being prayed for). The resulting health of the patients who received intercessory prayer was essentially the same as those who did not – which were overall similar to the usual and expected results in health of all such angioplasty patients.
Link: http://www.dukemednews.org/news/article.php?id=9136
Additionally – in the STEP (Study of the Therapeutic Effects of intercessory Prayer) Project, a 10 year long clinical trial authored, conducted and funded by physicians and foundations of faith, in collaboration with six medical centers (including Harvard and Mayo Clinic), the “power of prayer†was the basis for another scientific test that concluded in 2006.
In double-blind studies, 1802 CABG (coronary artery bypass graft) patients were randomly selected and divided into 3 groups: 604 patients who received intercessory prayer after being told that they might or might not receive prayer during their surgery and recovery; 597 patients who did not receive intercessory prayer after being told that they might or might not receive prayer during their surgery and recovery; and 601 patients who received intercessory prayer after being told that they definitely would receive prayer during their surgery and recovery. At the end of the study, it was determined that the group of 604 patients had 52% post-operative complications, the group of 597 patients had 51% post-operative complications, and that the group of 601 patients had 59% post-operative complications.
The published conclusion reported that their study could not only not show that prayer improves a patient’s health, but, in fact, that in those patients who knew they would be prayed for, the risk of complications was highest.

April 7th, 2007 at 6:27 pmStick to your guns Nancy. You rock!
There was an interesting exchange on Hardball. Christ Matthews was challenged for presenting Dick Cheney’s comments about his claim that al Qaeda was already in Iraq when the invasion started when there is no evidence to support the claim saying it followed the Cheney pattern of not being the truth. Matthews defense was that, yes, what Cheney said lacked credible supporting evidence but that it is news worthy simply because it was said by the Vice President.
Marginalizing Cheney is beginning to work. Matthews is on the defensive in just reporting what Cheney says. How much longer will Matthews what to be part of the news rather than reporting on the news. At some point he will flip just as Edward R. Murrow flipped against Joseph McCarthy. Keeping up the pressure is more important now than ever. And exposing the hypocracy surrounding the charges against Pelosi’s trip to Syria is an example of keeping up the pressure.
April 7th, 2007 at 6:30 pmThe universe is approximately 100 trillion miles wide. It is also expanding. The galaxy Abell that was 13.2 billion light years away when it first sent us the light that we now see, is currently 40 billion light years away from us. Unfortunately, 13.7 billion light years is our limit for what we can actually see in our universe, as that is the number of years that the universe has existed. This means we are currently unable to see anything beyond that 13.7 billion light year horizon… It doesn’t mean that there isn’t anything there however… And if we are central to this universe, then why are we not only such a miniscule dot inside of it, but why is it filled with so much space that we can’t even see or enjoy it all?
Additionally, the majority of the universe (96%) is composed of dark matter (70%) and other elements that have nothing to do with life – much less human life. Carbon the basis for all life is only 0.5% of the entire universe. If we are the reason for creating this universe, then why aren’t we the majority in it?
9 billion years after the Big Bang that started our current universe, the Earth was formed. It wasn’t formed at the same time as the rest of the universe, as most religions creation stories tell (including the biblical version that put the creation of the general universe and the Earth on the same day – although other parts of the universe, such as stars, didn’t show up until 4 days later). About a billion years after the Earth was formed, live emerged. It took an additional four billion more before humans evolved into Homo Sapiens Sapiens. Essentially, the universe is approximately 13.7 billion years old. Humanity didn’t show up until nearly 13 billion years afterward. We’ve been alive less than 1/100th of 1% of the time that the universe has existed. Hard to consider humanity the central focus of the universe in light of that knowledge.

April 7th, 2007 at 6:36 pmThe sun will die in 5.5 billion years and take the Earth – and humanity – with it (the lethal radiation from space travel ensures that we cannot leave unless we evolve an immunity to it, which is unlikely since evoilution is a system of adaptation to environment, and we’re actually making the atmosphere more dense, hence less exposuer to radiation with our CO2 pollution).
Tell me, MA… what kind of ridiculous divine plan is that?

…However in the Severability clause f the Act the following is outlined:
SEVERABILITY.
If any provision of this Act or amendment made by a provision of this Act, or the application of such provision or amendment to any person or circumstance, is held to be unconstitutional, the remainder of this Act and the amendments made by this Act, and the application of such provisions and amendments to any other person or circumstance, shall not be affected thereby.

April 7th, 2007 at 6:51 pm#97 – The Bible is not a science book – it is a spiritual Book written thousands of years ago by people trying to explain the complexities of life and our surroundings. Stop this avoidance, Speaker Pelosi. You are admired and respected, but come on, this man deserves NOTHING of respect at all. He has lied us into a war. period. But if a Republican (or, say, three who are part of this administration) makes a suggestion, they get a pass.

On the other hand, there’s something to be said for opening my own practice. The nice thing about this alternative is I can start part-time while I continue to teach for the next couple of years or so, then pull early retirement, keep my full health insurance and full retirement benefits, possibly even with a golden handshake.

Frankly, I don’t trust either party. Most is all window-dressing. I will believe in change when action REALLY happens. When the Democrats were in power we had mucho wars – Kosovo, Viet Nam, Panama, Falklands, Lebanon and the list goes on. We also had a share of corruption and monkey business. What about Clinton pardoning Marc Rich just before he left office. What about Hillary with her 100,00 profit and the misplaced FBI files and allowing the most notorious traitor in our history, Jonathan Pollard, to be moved to a less secure prison.

Suppositions? You are such an idiot.
Not relevant to the discussion? What discussion? For 4+ hours you have yet to directly address the issue of Republicans suggesting withdrawing from Iraq and what effect it would have on terrorists celebrating. Why? Because you can’t.
Instead you post idiotic dribble. Hmmm…dribble…”a small quantity of anything” according to Random House Unabridged Dictionary. A perfect description of you.

What about them? How did those incidents hurt national security? Did any of them get us into an endless war? How many Americans died because of them?
What about the billions in profit from no-bid contracts to Haliburton? Hmmm? What about Haliburton providing unclean and unsafe water to our troops and then covering it up? Hmmm? I personally know the parents of a soldier who nearly died because of this. He was told it was safe to drink the water that Haliburton was supposed to treat. What about the Republicans in Congress refusing to investigate Haliburton’s role in letting our troops bathe in, and drink, tainted water? Hmmm?

I do it all the time, no law against that. I do have a question V V. If you would be so kind as to engage me. Why do you support this administration (religion aside, even though I am of the CHI)?
April 7th, 2007 at 10:21 pmWell, as I prepare to run the Bear one last time for the night I have a closing thought for all poster’s and troll’s….On the eve of the christian holiday (of which I do not celebrate BTW) I am reminded of one thing V.V. said in one of her post’s..She refered to us as the enemy..Interesting considering most of us are the peace maker’s and want our country returned to a country run by our constitution and the law…Unlike the present administration which is lawless , murderious and pure evil..I find it disterbing that the 30% ers think of us in that way when indeed we find all of them that way, just like bush because of his and their action’s….Killing and war’s for profit seem’s to me is far from what they preach..What do I know I’m not a christian…I do know one thing, no war was ever started in the name of Wicca or Shamanism…..
Unlike them I feel no hatred toward’s them and I’m not the christian that pound’s the bible claiming some superior faith based dogma or old junk from a book written by men over 2000 year’s ago and rewritten a dozen times….I don’t care what or who people believe in as long as it doesn’t support war’’s and killing….
I flip the troll’s lot’s of shit when it suit’s me in response to their lies and hatred, fact is I never carry it over or have hatred for them personely and I never wish harm on any one….Do as you will but harm none is my moto…..I will think good thought’s for the tiny evil troll’s tonight and hope they can mend their little heart’’s..Soon enough they will find they have put their faith in a false profet…..Blessings all and good night.

April 7th, 2007 at 10:25 pmSharon,

April 7th, 2007 at 10:29 pmOn the eve of the christian holiday (of which I do not celebrate BTW) I am reminded of one thing V.V. said in one of her post’s..She refered to us as the enemy.
Here is where I divert from V V’s belief. MA thinks that those who do not believe in God, or Jesus, are the enemy. This is not part of IsouV CristoVs teachings. Most all the people here were born in America V V, just as you. They follow the laws, they do nothing different than you do. You should not hate those that do not follow your belief V V. You will never convert any thru hatred ever.
Hatred will only make your heart heavy and hate will cause you to sink to nefarity. Bias and Hate is your enemy V V. Not your fellow humans. It is your mind that focuses on hate. Remove that.
BTW, have you read the left behind series of books V V?

April 7th, 2007 at 11:49 pmHappy Easter,
Blessed Oestara
and, if Sunday is the first day of the week, Why the heck do we start work on Monday? I mean, God didn’t start out Creation by taking a day off, did He?
For that matter, how do we know if He didn’t get started until Wednesday?
If Jesus died for my sins, how come he died 2000 years before I was born? Isn’t that like putting the punishment before the crime?
And why is it Christians celebrate Easter by boiling 1,120,800,000 chicken embryos?
April 7th, 2007 at 11:59 pmIf Jesus died for my sins, how come he died 2000 years before I was born? Isn’t that like putting the punishment before the crime?
Jesus knew these questions would come up and his followers have been answering ever since. Jeffrey Dahmer belongs in heaven as a serial murderer/cannibal. I don’t as a (gasp) non-believer. I never could figure out how they could say that with a straight face.
April 8th, 2007 at 12:06 amAnd why is it Christians celebrate Easter by boiling 1,120,800,000 chicken embryos?
Pro-life?
April 8th, 2007 at 12:07 amJPark,
How is boiling 1,120,800,000 chicken embryos Pro-Life?
Sounds more like Pro-Food Dye & Vinegar. :P
April 8th, 2007 at 12:12 am#182 That was kinda sarcastic :). The right believes in one kind of life and that is the American embryo…not the American person, not the Iraqi person, not the Iraqi embryo…wait, I am being unfair. They believe in the sanctity of the American blastocyst too.
April 8th, 2007 at 12:20 amand, if Sunday is the first day of the week, Why the heck do we start work on Monday? I mean, God didn’t start out Creation by taking a day off, did He?
Call Sun day Sol Day, Call it Zeus day, call Monday Mundane. Isn’t your first day back at work Mundane? Sheesh. =)
For that matter, how do we know if He didn’t get started until Wednesday?
Whats a hump? Wednesday is Hump-day. Why have months?
Why not just start at 0 and end at 365? =) Why have astrology? Why is our number system base 10, computers base 8 and days base 24? Who cares where we are in orbit? Stupid Zoroastrians. Stupid Mayans. =)
If Jesus died for my sins, how come he died 2000 years before I was born? Isn’t that like putting the punishment before the crime?
Socrates died for you as well =) Stupid Wisdom.
And why is it Christians celebrate Easter by boiling 1,120,800,000 chicken embryos?
Why do teenagers throw that many eggs a year at homes and passing cars?
April 8th, 2007 at 12:23 amJPark,
I know, I was being sarcastic and unbelievably clever, and now you’ve ruined everything.
No Blastocyst Left Behind? :D
April 8th, 2007 at 12:26 amShouldn’t Easter be celebrated by boiling bunnies?
April 8th, 2007 at 12:29 amWhy does a woman have millions of eggs and only a few come to fruition?
Why does a man create billions of spermazoa and only have maybe 1-5 kids?
Why does man need to think? Why if man didn’t think and was just a dumb ape we wouldn’t have to ask these stupid questions would we?
And if we didn’t think then we wouldn’t exist, and because we think we come up with all kinds of stupid wars to prove our beliefs are true!
But no one can prove their belief, or theory, is true, so we must, because we can think, continue to fight wars and to prove what we cannot prove by who wins the war.
And until the next war where we can prove how smart we are by killing those who don’t believe what we believe! And the winner of that stupid war contest gets to rewrite history in his own stupid way!!
Boy for such a smart people we sure are stupid =(
April 8th, 2007 at 12:34 am#186 And hope that the bunnies come back to life? Makes sense to me.
#185 Sorry. :( Didn’t mean to ruin your cleverness! I am always the killjoy!
April 8th, 2007 at 12:34 amJpark,
To me, bunnies are the definitive symbol of Easter. We could boil, baby dicks & chicks, or Easter baskets, or that weird plastic grass, but boiling bunnies seems most appropriate.

He is a LIAR and a MURDERER and a TRAITOR to the USA and EVERYTHING it ONCE stood for.
Anyone who thinks violating the COMMANDMENT

You’re right. I’m sorry, Zep.
April 8th, 2007 at 1:21 amNo need for apologies Zooey…
I am not angry I just hate to see all this positive energy diffuse..I see things differently I spose…as the Jewish people have been ridiculed and targeted and hated thru history it only made them stronger. Hate is a powerful tool and, I think, it works in reverse.
The more ridicule to ones ideology the stronger they will become. Thats what the right wing has done (though many are hiding behind a cloak and don’t believe in Jesus) they tell them that they are hated and persecuted and they have about taken over congress because they feel persecuted. I can take the jabs and the jibs and let them pass. I even have taken Jabs at Haggard and other fakes such as Delay. However, look at the Muslims, they are up against the most powerful nation on earth, They kicked the Russians ass out of Afghanistan as well as they did the British back when. They are also taking a heavy toll on America in Iraq.
I’m gonna go now, take care, Y’all. And have a great Sol-day
April 8th, 2007 at 1:39 amBush’s #1 priority is making himself look as good as possible. If we leave Iraq without looking like we’ve won, he looks bad. If Pelosi talks to Syria, he looks bad.

You listed 5 wars started under Democratic administrations, but you are so wrong on most of them that I wonder if you went to school beyond 3rd grade.
Bush 41 invaded Panama, Reagan went into Beirut, and the Falklands wasn’t even our country’s war! It was England vs. Argentina. But it did happen on Reagan’s watch, not the Dems. Just so you know the Great War of Grenada was also Reagan’s.
Reagan cut-and-ran from Lebanon after are Marines were killed by terrorists, thus allowing them to follow us home.
P.S.- Scooty Libby was Marc Rich’s attorney- doesn’t he also deserve your scorn for advising Clinton to pardon him?
April 8th, 2007 at 6:37 amIt took Roosevelt & Truman less time to win World War II then Bush has been mucking around in Iraq.
“We were knee deep in the Big Muddy, And the big fool said to push on!”
April 8th, 2007 at 6:40 amChances are some nutbag (like Bush) will try to bring the so-called biblical Amegedon and kill us all off way before then.
No doubt he, like many of those encouraging him to do this, seem to be missing the fact that in numerous places inthe Bible, Jesus promised to return within the life time of his disciples…. Which he didn’t. Armageddon now, nearly 2000 years later is just a stupid idea… Which, I agree is totally in Bush’s capacity…
Or an asteroid will eventually drop on us and wipe us out, like what happened to the dinosaurs.
Comment by Wayne — April 7, 2007 @ 6:50 pm
I’ve read somewhere that the odds increase each year that that will happen and are now somewhere around 80% (I think). Granted the large planets behind us help stop a lot of those nasty asteroids – but eventually, the odds are in favor of one getting through…
April 8th, 2007 at 8:30 amThe Bible is not a science book –
No kidding. But it tries to be. And if it was sooooo dead wrong about the Science, how can you think it was right about anything else?
it is a spiritual Book written thousands of years ago by people trying to explain the complexities of life and our surroundings. Certain fundamentalists believe EVERY word in the Bible as written and that’s fine for them.
Fine for them that they are waging wars, dividing our nation, eroding our civil liberties, and making us the most despised nation on the planet? Perhaps – but it’s NOT fine by me.
And since you don’t believe in anything spiritual, I’ll leave it at that.
Comment by valiant venus — April 7, 2007 @ 7:13 pm
There’s ZERO proof of anything spiritual, so why would I simply believe? I’ve seen you make fun of others who have spiritual beliefs that are not Christian. That makes you a raging hypocrite. At least I find them all equally worthless.
The reason you have to leave it there is because you do not know why you believe what you believe… And because the years of refusing to think at all have rendered you incapable of doing so now… Figures. And then you people accuse us for why the world has gone to ‘hell’. You’re the reason, and because you refuse to accept it, it will only get worse.
April 8th, 2007 at 8:36 amYou’re sounding a little manic….
Comment by valiant venus — April 7, 2007 @ 7:15 pm

April 8th, 2007 at 8:38 amYou poor thing…you don’t debate.
Of course I do. The problem is that you don’t because you can’t.
Guess it’s hard to have a two-sided anything with you when you havethe debating (and intellectual) skills of a rabid gerbil…
You lecture. You surmise from policy positions what people cannot believe – how pitiful…
Comment by valiant venus — April 7, 2007 @ 7:30 pm
I inform. I shoot holes inyour ignorance. And you just continue to attack me because you have ZERO ability to attack my arguments.
I made several claims and posted them, with links for you to debunk. Yet, because youcannot, you insult me – and quite poorly I might add.
You’re just a bitter and lonely person who gets off on being nasty because no one likes you. I’ve asked before and I’ll ask again. Show me where a single liberal has said anything nice about you. The fact that you cannot says it all, really. It’s only you who is pitiful… You are nothing, you have nothing, and you think nothing….
April 8th, 2007 at 8:44 amWhy does every discussion have to turn to that great big invisible patriarch in the sky who is watching our every move in order to motivate us to do what we should be doing anyhow? Don’t you think that all this attention is going to piss him off?
It strikes me that one would need to be a peculiarly shallow bag-o-doorknobs to rely on superstition to motivate them to act in a moral manner. And we all know that Bush worships at the church of death and destruction, and his miniscule meaningless minority of his defenders right along with him. So whatever the great big invisible man in the sky thinks doesn’t matter one iota to these zipperheads anyhow.

As long as your refuse to think, you’re right, it won’t matter. But it’s for those who were once like the many of us who doubt. The many who keep their rejection of superstitions private because of people like you who think that your way is the only way and it gives you some entitlement to harrass others and destroy our country.
If you people would do as you demand of others, stop oppressing others and waging wars, I wouldn’t have an issue. But as long as you hypocrites exist, I’ll continue to point it out.

April 8th, 2007 at 6:59 pmLots of hatred of christians floating around here it seems.
April 10th, 2007 at 4:53 amI’m sorry if any of you have been deceived by someone acting under the guise of Christian who really doesnt know what being a christian is.
But with the amount of hatred I see on this board ( which I am trolling just to check out) , I find it pretty far-fetched that y’all are “peace makers”, constitutionalists, rational or wise. I’m not on the attack here. Just saddened to see so much pain that is being projected and acted out.
As for your attacks on the bible , ID and faith in general, ( as well as your complete disregard for the bible as being the most historically proven ancient document in history by a WIDE margin) , I would love to have some FRIENDLY debates on occasion about these things- preferably off this board as from an outsiders perspective, nothing loving or meaningful can come from a board this hate and vitriol filled.
BTW- to clarify- real christians dont worship eggs on easter. And yes. Easter is a Christian holiday- historically documented by mulitple sources completely and utterly seperate from the bible ( including SEVERAL major world historical sources that have nothing to do with Christianity) -as to an earlier pagan religion pre-dating easter, I’d be interested in hearing more about it from a reputable source…….
Happy Day AFTER Easter all. He is risen.
Let go of your hate. Its killing you.
