I think this article sums up the “controversy” pretty well. Everyone on the trip with Pelosi, republican as well as democrat, Jewish as well as other, says she conveyed the message accurately.

No one with knowledge of Pelosiâ€™s meeting with Syrian officials â€” Pelosi, the members of her bipartisan delegation, and the State Department â€” has suggested that Pelosi communicated an incorrect message to the Syrians.

No one except the Israelis.
They being the source of the message and whos interests are effected by its delivery.
So you could say “No one except the one party that matters”.

I had my suspicions about Gregory, and they were borne out when he made that fawning comment about the politico.com “reporter” at the Bush press conference (when Bush made believe he didn’t know the guy and gave him a free commercial). Only a partisan would ever say anything complimentary about that guy’s work.

I heard a theory today — do you think Gregory was “threatened” with privilege suspension from the White House (because of his tough dealing with Snow’s defense) and that is why he was cavorting with Rove and now taking up the rightwing take on the Pelosi trip?

Also — check out crooks and liars, as well as Josh Marshall at TPM — C&L has a video of Halbrook lambasting the press and the White House on Hardball with subs. host David Gregory, who ffered one counterpoint and then backed down. TPM has a video of Marshall himself showing an Israeli newspaper with the news of the message it was giving Pelosi to bring to Assad BEFORE she even left on the trip.
This is appearing to be a deliberate set-up by the Bushies.
Now if the MSM would do their job and investigate these things instead of simply reporting the White House talking points……..

You know the thing that gets me here:

The rightwhinge keeps on saying that Pelosi stuffed up – but not actually expressing how or why her trip to Syria was a stuff-up. Indeed, actually trying to find more substance to their allegations then just the outright stupid assertion that the trip to Syria was somehow a mistake, is quite difficult to achieve.

There has been no coverage of what Pelosi actually said, there has been no coverage of any possible deals done, all there has been is the rightwhinge (Dubbed thus because frankly, whinging is all they are good at) repeating a statement with no logical backing.

So, here it is righties: Either put up or shut up. Show the negative consequences of Pelosi going to Syria. Until you do, recognise that while we have heard your repeated whine, we frankly could not care less about the fact that you aren’t happy about it, especially given your previous track records at messing everything you have touched up.
