“Oppose learning? It is you liberals who don’t learn. We pour billions into our failed public schools and you want to spend more! We have poured billions into our failed welfare system and you want to spend more! We try to teach our children morality, you kill 35 million unborn babies! We got attacked on 9/11. We chase and fight our enemies over there and you want to cut and run. I’d say that there is much learning needed, the question is by whom?

I'm so tired of the infantile, brain dead, non-thinking types in the Bush Adminstration, like this Dana...sold her soul. Sold her soul. Really it's like trying to argue with a child. Child isn't the right word because children aren't so flipant to any words that don't come from the Bush Adminstration. This infecting madness needs to stop. But it might as well just rot away like the rotting corpses these people are. That's you, Dana.
Metal illness in it's worst abomination.

Don't tell me what my point of view is, greg fioritto. You don't know, and you are simply putting one thing with another and getting three. Even the 9/11 Commission concluded that Iraq had nothing to do with the terrorist attacks. As a matter of fact, I don't think we should have left the Taliban in power. However, by diverting US military resources to Iraq, a country which--et me repeat--did not attack the US, we have allowed the Taliban and Al Qaeda to make a comeback in parts of Afghanistan and Pakistan.
I hope that one day you will miss Osama Bin Laden as much as you miss Saddam Hussein; unfortunately, this administration hasn't been doing much to find him over 5 1/2 years after 9/11!

michael

America is, comparatively speaking, cheap. Of the first world countries right now, it is the one that gives least in aid to the rest of the world, only giving 0.1% of GDP. England, actually gives one heck of a lot more, at 1% of GDP. (Anybody doesn't believe me, go look it up.)

Plus that 0.1% is actually mostly made up of loans, with agreements that those loans will be used to buy excess American goods. Thus meaning that local industries are not developed to produce those goods themselves, and that America gets paid back thrice: Once when the loan is paid off, because unlike America Africa is expected to pay its debts, once when that country buys America's goods, and once when America gains the benefit of less competition in the markets.

Yet at the same time America is the country which whines about it most.

It is also the country which is currently the biggest culprit in making that aid "neccessary." Global warming is having a definite effect in sub-saharan Africa, with South Africa going through a drought, Mozambique dealing with massive flooding (Which it is handling somewhat better then America handled Katrina, BTB) and various countries citing America's actions at Gitmo as their justification of how they are behaving on human rights.

That is the reality as an African that I have seen of America's "Generosity."

And yet I am pro America. Perhaps in part because I know what the economy will do if America's economy goes down, in part because America does have a positive roll to play in the world. Where America leads, the world follows, and if America leads us to peace, prosperity and goodwill, then we all benefit, if America leads us to where the Republicans are going now, towards war, poverty and hatred, then we all lose.

Having Fox News or Rush Limbaugh give you their interpretation of the "real world" does not count as having based your beliefs on the real world itself...

<em>Al Qaeda had nothing to do with the first gulf war, but they have a lot to do with this one.

See my point? By definition, US is the good force in every conflict. There is no question about it, no shade of doubt whatsoever, no discussion, no criticism. After US starved to death a ruined country that invaded Kuwait in order to press oil prices to its convenience and with complete allowance by Bush I, we had the I Gulf War. US was the good humanitarian force throwing out evil Saddam from good ol´Kuwait. No question about it. 12 years later after making up evidence US throws a shaming shock and awe operation against an unarmed country for some UN resolution violation while US has 70+ violations according to UN resolutions. But, there is no question that those bombs are somehow to spread peace and democracy. Then the toppling of the Saddam´s regime, the first thing US forces did was to seize the Oil Ministry in Baghdad, while everything else was left for looting, you know, that will spread peace and democracy, right? Now, US builds 14 permanent bases in Iraq; yeah, as in permanent, while Iraqis want US out, but I guess they are now far better than they were back in Saddam´s days...or they? Iraqis are willing to die in order to kill US forces, Sunnis, Shiites, Wahabbists, whatever, but they werent willing to die back then. US forces torture and rape civilians, but thats another way to bring peace and stability to the Middle East. But no, US actions are always for a good cause. Always.
Now I can go to throw up.

#177 how do you know Al Queda sees Iraq as being pivital? Pivital for the reason the president has said...that they will have a safe haven if we leave? Using that line of thought, we will never leave. Remeber the president himself hs said staying is wining leaving is losing, with no other condistions to recognize for either what do you do? Or perhaps you mean AlQueda sees Iraq as being pivital for other reasons? Perhaps because BinLaden has said that getting the US invloved in a land war in the Mid East works to Al Queda's advantage, in that case, then the president is acting as an AlQueda Operative would. In either case staying is not a good option for the US.

#183 Michael, once again you display a fox like non-grasp of reality. Nort Korea and their Nuke program were contained and did not break the agreement until our president and his adminsitration reniged on terms of the Clinton era settlement. Once they renigged so did North Korea. Additionally the agreement we have today is no better than what Clinton had, so where exactly are we better off? Your post overall sets you off as being a knee kjerk my way or fk off type of conservative.

Firehead, using your logic, the united states had something to do with 911 since the hijackers were in the country prior to 911. Dizzying.

#195 she did not say Iraq did 911 but once again she is freely associating Iraq and 911 even though the two are totally unrelated. If Iraq is or becomes a safe haven for terrorists it is because we created the mess. Also now please explain how leaving will give them a safe haven? They already have a safe haven that we are not doing anything about it is called Saudi Arabia. ANyhow do you think that the Shia are goingto let their enemy roam free? The Kurds? The Sunni May, but if we leave the Sunni Will align with Saudi, the Shia with Iran and the kurds will fend for themselves so our friends the Saudis can work on AlQueda since they are essentially the logistics base for the group. Bunny you also seem to imply that AlQueda are the only one's in Iraq causing violence. Well according to our military, you know the "guys in the ground" Al Queda is somewhere around 5% of the total. And if we leave they may not leave but sure as shooting the shia will beat their ass and make them wish they had left.
