“Millions of Iraqis are in a ‘disastrous’ situation that is getting worse, with mothers appealing for someone to pick up the bodies on the street so their children will be spared the horror of looking at them on their way to school, the international Red Cross said Wednesday.”
UPDATE: In Mosul, “the body remained dumped in the street for hours as all ambulance drivers refused to carry the body due to the death threats directed at them not to carry the bodies from armed groups’ attacks.” Police officers are now reportedly tasked with removing dead bodies, and “the police command operations room has suffered.”

April 11th, 2007 at 3:04 pmYou people don’t get it. Iraq streets are “littered” with body parts. A head here, next to another mans arm, next to a foot. It is like this all up and down the streets. Think of trash littered here in the worst usa city. Just replace same with B L O O D Y parts.
April 11th, 2007 at 3:05 pmToday I have absolutely zero hope for this country. Maybe tomorrow I’ll feel different, but not today. That we could do such things to a nation which never threatened us and still continue to do so, AND that our utterly feckless, hopeless, worse-than-dead political MAJORITY PARTY allows it to continue is just beyond the pale.

There were almost 500 acts of terrorism across the European Union in 2006 — but only one, the foiled suitcase bomb plot in Germany, was related to Islamist terror, a new EU report reveals. Meanwhile the trial of one of the main suspects in the German plot has been adjourned in Lebanon.

April 11th, 2007 at 3:38 pmIt costed $340 billion for Iraq War thus far and it only needs $19 billions to save the people in global poverty. I hope our political leader will realize how much money and precious lives they are wasting on a war against “terrorism”.
April 11th, 2007 at 4:44 pmAccording to Boren Project, $12 billion can provide education for every kid on earth; $15 billion can provide access to water and sanitation. Comparing to the $522 billion U.S. military budget, these annual cost of improving the world is very little.
It is really not so hard if we are truly willing to make a change and bring peace to the world bot by military solution but by humanitarian aid.
I am ashamed of being in the Western Civilization.
I think only after 5th avenue is filled with corpses, people will understand that there is no such a thing as a “just” war.
April 11th, 2007 at 5:03 pm#24 ” It costed $340 billion for Iraq War thus far …”
April 11th, 2007 at 5:10 pmWhat I want to know is WHO ended up with the $340 Billion. Wouldn’t surprise me if they were Big Bush Supporters.
This country accrued a good portion of bad karma when they dropped two atom bombs on civilian populations in Japan. This complete and utter disaster that we have brought to the Iraqi people is even worse, I think.
“…mothers appealing for someone to pick up the bodies on the street so their children will be spared the horror of looking at them on their way to school.”
This horror, resulting in incredible trauma to these people…and especially the kids, is earning more and more anger and hostility toward the U.S. every day. And we live here, and will get to participate in that resultant hostility and anger sooner or later.
THIS IS A SIN!!!

Well said and you are completely right. Unfortunately, the human race is still a long way from being evolved to this level. If we can avoid blowing the world up, or utterly destroying the environment, we might reach this point someday. Generations from now. Pray.
April 11th, 2007 at 6:46 pmIt saddens me to imagine all the dead bodies left lying on the streets. Like it is in Iraq, suffering and death is also widely prevelant in poverty-stricken neighborhoods- especially in Africa- where people barely survive on less than $1 a day (which is 1 out of every 5 person on earth). Consequently, as long as Bush makes no attempt to eradicate global poverty or end the war, people will continue to suffer. The Millennium Development Goals, therefore, were agreed upon by 191 world leaders in 2000 to cut global poverty in half by 2015 and eliminate it by 2025. By combating global poverty (which is at the root of the problem), Bush can protect our country from future terrorists and save millions of lives.
