Sen. Collins Rails Against ‘Out Of State’ Iraq Ads, Accepts $10K Of ‘Out Of State’ Money
Last week, Americans United for Change launched an ad campaign highlighting how several key senators, including Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME), had voted against beginning the redeployment of U.S. forces out of Iraq.
The ad highlights how Collins hypocritically voted to give President Bush a blank check in Iraq despite having argued previously that “the Senate go on record opposing the President’s plan to send more troops to Iraq.” Watch the Iraq ad:
Collins responded with a 90-second video of her own. As you’ll see below, virtually the entire video is devoted to criticizing Americans United as an “out-of-state partisan special interest,” adding that “no Maine-based groups funded this attack.” The video never actually defends, or even mentions, Collins’ vote against ending the war in Iraq. Watch it:
Collins’ video is yet another example of her dishonest approach to Iraq. Days before attacking Americans United for its out-of-state funding, Collins accepted a $10,000 check from Snow PAC, the out-of-state political committee run by Utah Sen. Robert Bennett (R).
Time and again, Collins has postured on Iraq only to vote for Bush’s policy of war without end. It’s time for her to be honest with her constituents instead of feigning anger and obscuring her position.

This is why i voted a straight democratic ticket in 02,04 and 06 and this is yet another reason why in 08 i would like those fiscal conservitives and true patriots to vote a straight line democratic ticket to get rid of these blundering , blood thursty , debt racking liers like collins and elect some one that will back there words with action not just give us lip service

Currently the Dems have only 11 seats up for election and none of them are threatened. The Republicans stand to lose many of those mentioned 11 weak Senate seats.

There is a reason she has the nickname here “Me Too Sue.” She says she is moderate, but always goes along with Bush when it comes down to the votes.

April 13th, 2007 at 3:50 ami’m not sure how she ever got elected in the first place. i remember the summer right before she got elected. i was working at a place on the maine coast and her niece worked with me, so there was susan collins stuff around. and i remember wondering…susan collins…susan collins…who the heck is she! i don’t recall her ever being anything that would have given her credentials as a senator. and i thought she might be in trouble when near the end of the summer her brother got arrested for buying a box truck full of pot from the dea…and wondered how she was going to spin that off. but she won. and is still there today. frankly, i think her brother was much cooler than her. :)
