Major document dump expected today.

Major document dump expected today.»

From a press conference with Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) earlier this afternoon:

QUESTION: (OFF-MIC) expecting more documents.

SCHUMER: Today.

QUESTION: Do you know how many (OFF-MIC)

SCHUMER: There’s supposed to be about a thousand pages of documents. It’s supposed to come about 4 or 5 o’clock. We know nothing about what’s in them.

QUESTION: Do you know whether they cover any of your redacted…

SCHUMER: We do not. We do not. We know nothing about what’s in them. We just know it’s a lot, and it’s coming in the late afternoon.

UPDATE: “A very senior source who has seen the latest batch of documents to be delivered to the Senate says Sen. Chuck Schumer is wrong in estimating that the Department of Justice will dump about 1,000 pages related to the U.S. attorney firings sometime between 4 and 5 p.m. EDT. As the afternoon drags on, it is looking more likely that the dump will slip to either very late Thursday or Friday.”

They’re doing a docu-dump on a THURSDAY?? Desperate times call for desperate measures, I guess.

I expect this will be a “see, we’re cooperating” docu-dump, i.e. not much of importance in it, but the point is to publicize the appearance of compliance, without fully complying.

Nitpick redux: my (American Heritage) dictionary lists “mike” as slang for microphone, but it doesn’t list “mic” at all.

  5. Uncle Ho Says:

The truck has a flat tire, docudump will occur Friday night @2359 hrs.

The White House must simply hate the 5 day Congressional work week……

  11. Zimzone Says:

Friday the 13th is always a good day to make a huge dump.

You can smell this all the way up to the frozen tundra of MN., by the way. Everyone says, ‘nice day, but what’s that smell’?
I respond by saying, ‘I believe it’s a Bush Dump. Get used to them, more will be coming.’

Ahhh, the smell of the Burning Bush in springtime. If it’s not CO2, it’s RO2. (Republican Odor, 2nd verse.)

  12. valentinian Says:

I think both ‘mike’ and ‘mic’ are acceptable.

All we can do is pick nits until the dump is dumped..

  13. Sharon Says:

Perfect….just in time to smear the Republicans all weekend long on the talk shows! Perfect timing!

The White House is now the Dump ground.

Instead of Dumbya, it’s now Dumpya.

Well, we’ll dump you next, Dumbya.

  17. ignoreland Says:

You know, with a country full of people aching to find evidence of wrongdoing in the administration, you’d think that giving them a weekend to read and post in time for the Monday newscycle would have lost some glitter in the WH. (Of course, we still depend on the MSM to pick it up, but those in the know, know sooner.)

  18. Dkish Says:

The term “mic” is 60’s techspeak, an abbreviation that took up less space when written below a channel fader on a mixing board, ex: voc mic 1.
I expect this dump on the traditional Friday afternoon, it will probably contain something sensational, but not germane to the main issue.

  19. Simbaud Says:

Check your Merriam-Webster. “Mike,” which dates back to 1924, has a much longer pedigree than “mic,” which began cropping up in the early sixties.

Valentinian is correct that both spellings are considered acceptable.

  20. Deadeye Dick Cheney Says:

Oh God, I hope it’s late Friday! If they’re putting it off ’til late Friday, it can only mean that there’s gnarly stuff in there. If it was innocuous, they’d have delivered it today. Friday’s are getting to be like Christmas, with new presents to unwrap. Can you see the speed with which this administration is auguring into the ground increasing daily?

  21. Jonno Says:

    mic is short for microphone
    what’s mike short for? mikerophone?

  22. Raymond Funamoto Says:

CHIMPya WISHES HE COULD INCLUDE SOME OF HIS TURDS IN THAT THERE DOCUMENT DUMP—SHOWING HIS SOCIOPATHIC SENSE OF POTTY-HUMOR FROM THIS SHIT-FOR-BRAINS, ALSO KNOWN AS Rove FOR BRAINS!!!!!

  23. DaddyO Says:

The ‘mike’ vs ‘mic’ debate could go on forever. As a musician AND a writer, I prefer the older ‘mike’. But the bottom line is this: BOTH words ‘look’ wrong. Neither of them satisfy the eye, and for some reason deep inside our brains, one word or the other makes us stop in the middle of what would otherwise be a seamless read.

Especially when somebody points it out…;-)
