Wisconsin U.S. attorney was on hit list.

“Congressional investigators looking into the firings of eight U.S. attorneys saw Wisconsin prosecutor Steven M. Biskupic’s name on a list of lawyers targeted for removal when they were inspecting a Justice Department document not yet made public, according to an attorney for a lawmaker involved in the investigation.” (More on Biskupic and the Bush administration’s pressure on him here.)

They can’t even fire US attorneys without mucking it up. Say what you will about the purely-partisan nature of this scandal, the sheer incompetence displayed puts even that to shame!

But they have again set the bar with this latest; at least Rumsfeld could be given the benefit of doubt on a few issues, given the unpredictable nature of the endeavor – but the attorney scandal shines a beacon on the incompetence of Justice’s top cops, who were, after all, dealing internally with their own troops, not battlefield conditions. “Gonzalian” is the new standard of Bush administration incompetence. Congrats guys, we knew you could do it.

I think it is important to know what was the motive and who was the brain behind all these firings,and whether the told story is the only one or there many other stories that are still hidden.
Congress need to know how much political strategists’ influence was behind the long list, and whether Gonzalez played the ‘enabler’ part or not.

Jim Doyle won reelection handily. And the congressional district formerly held by his challenger,former congressman Mark Green , also went to the democratic candidate.
What bothers me about this whole issue is..Where was the press??? I had to endure months of attack ads about Doyle’s convicted state employee. She spent months in prison, and then a three judge panel ruled she was slam dunk innocent. None of the facts of the case changed, no new facts emerged, yet the press couldn’t or wouldn’t reach the conclusion of innocense that was so obvious to the judges.
