Percentage of Americans who believe that Congress should allow funding only with a time limit (58 percent) or block all funding for the war in Iraq (9 percent), according to a new CBS poll. Fully 69 percent believe the escalation in Iraq has either made conditions worse (26 percent) or made no impact (43 percent), compared to 25 percent who believe it’s made conditions better.

LOL — only 9% want to block all funding?!
April 15th, 2007 at 10:21 amMeanwhile, back at the surge:
Two car bombs exploded minutes apart in a busy Baghdad market in a mainly Shiite district Sunday, killing at least 18 people, police said.
http://news.yahoo.com/ s/ ap/ 20070415/ ap_on_re_mi_ea/ iraq
April 15th, 2007 at 10:25 amFor the record, no Americans were killed by those two car bombs. As I’ve said before, better to fight the terrorists there than here.
April 15th, 2007 at 10:29 amOnly 9% of those polled were thinking clearly? Too much Prozac being prescribed in the US.
April 15th, 2007 at 10:29 amtop o’ the mid-mornin to ya Jake! Just now crawling out of bed?
April 15th, 2007 at 10:31 am(I’ve been at work since 7am. For an idea of my boredom earlier, check out the Webb thread, around comment 72((ish)) and beyond…)
As Congressman Dennis Kucinich correctly points out, the Democrats cannot claim that they oppose the war if they do not support cutting off the funds. The Democrats have the power to stop the occupation. They were put in power last November because they promised they were going to end the illegal occpation of Iraq. It is long past the point that they keep their promise that they made to the American people. Congress-do your job-end this unnecessary occupation and bloodshed-cut off the funds-now.
April 15th, 2007 at 10:31 amAs for the poll results, I’m glad 25% at least realize the surge has made conditions better. Still, with all the media bias,, I would have thought more than 9% by now would want block all funding for the war in Iraq. I mean, come on, Feingold, his staff, and those who post here = 9%. That’s pretty pathetic. And here, I thought I was the one in the tiny minority. Gotta go finish the LA Times and watch Russert now.
April 15th, 2007 at 10:32 amLOL - only 33% believe we should have no time limit and fight an endless war forever?! Well I guess you can fool some of the people all of the time. BTW, Jake, who is the enemy in Iraq?
April 15th, 2007 at 10:32 ambetter to fight the terrorists there than here
Problem is, the terrorists are here.

April 15th, 2007 at 10:32 amCheck The Washington Post for Gonzales’ latest excuse for his acts against our Constitution and America/Americans. Filthy lying whore.
April 15th, 2007 at 10:33 amFor the record, even I believe that Congress should allow funding only with a time limit as well — how does January 21, 2009 sound as a compromise?
April 15th, 2007 at 10:33 amComment by Jake — April 15, 2007 @ 10:29 am
So if they weren’t Americans then they must have been terrorists? Jake, how does policing a civil war between the Sunnis and the Shiites in Iraq keep Saudis from flying planes into our buildings?
April 15th, 2007 at 10:34 am“I don’t think that the majority of the Democrats in Congress want to leave America’s fighting forces in harm’s way without the resources they need to defend themselves,” Cheney said on the CBS program “Face the Nation.”
Right. That’s Bush’s job!
-troops sent to Iraq without sufficient equipment.
April 15th, 2007 at 10:36 am-troops sent to Iraq without sufficient armor.
-troops sent to Iraq without sufficient weapons.
-troops sent to Iraq without sufficient ammunition.
-troops sent to Iraq without completing their training.
How’s it hangin’ whiteyfresh?! You’ve always been very civil to me. Too bad some other people have questions for me, though. They should have thought about that BEFORE resorting to personal attacks and/or refusing to answer MY questions — see you around.
April 15th, 2007 at 10:36 amCheck this: 0% of Bush Admin policies have resulted in positive results for America.
Not to worry, things are looking up.
Sheesh.
April 15th, 2007 at 10:37 amHere is the remaining 33%: Here.
April 15th, 2007 at 10:37 amJake, you are an ugly person. You have ugly in your soul.

How? We have had numerous American deaths every day since the surge began. Violence against our troops has increased. This is not left-wing propoganda. This is documented fact. Turkey is considering a strike against Iraq and a Northern invasion because of the PKK Kurdish Workers Party attacking them across their border. Conditions have gotten worse in Southern Iraq where Shiite cleric al-Sadr and his Mehdi Army are in control. Or is this what you consider success? Who is the enemy in Iraq Jake?
April 15th, 2007 at 10:40 am15 - 100% of Bush Admin policies have resulted in greater profits for War Profiteers and the rest of His base.
April 15th, 2007 at 10:40 amjAKE:LEAVING ALREADY??
April 15th, 2007 at 10:41 am“better to fight the terrorists there than here”
So Jake, when will you be enlisting?
April 15th, 2007 at 10:41 amOh Jake - please, please answer our questions. Ever since you started giving us the silent treatment, we haven’t been able to eat or sleep. What will we do without you? Whatever will we do…? Everybody loves Jake!
April 15th, 2007 at 10:42 amFor the record, here’s Jake from the other day, responding to me, after putting me on his mythical “ignore list”:
“The FIRST job of the government is to PROTECT the people.” Jake
“Um, I thought it was to uphold the Constitution? Or has that changed since 9/11?”
Comment by barfly — April 13, 2007 @ 4:22 pm
And here’s Jake, responding to me, and thus destroying the integrity of his precious ignore list:
“For the record, if all the People are killed by terrorists with suitcase nukes, it matters no longer to uphold the Constitution.” Comment by Jake — April 13, 2007 @ 4:24 pm
And the “list†dies a well deserved death - or do you think I won’t follow you around from thread to thread, posting this?
Jake’s newest dodge is “For the record … ” when he answers you, while seeming not to.
How juvenile.
April 15th, 2007 at 10:42 amThey should have thought about that BEFORE resorting to personal attacks and/or refusing to answer MY questions — see you around.
Comment by Jake — April 15, 2007 @ 10:36 am
Jake, you are just helping me out. Anyone reading these threads sees me constantly poking holes in everything you state and you just sitting there with no response. Who is the enemy in Iraq Jake? Don’t worry if you can’t answer. I was there for more than a year, and I can’t tell you who the enemy is.
April 15th, 2007 at 10:44 am0. The perrcentage of the American population who know who the enemy is in Iraq.
April 15th, 2007 at 10:46 amAs TP ‘ers can clearly see, Jake’s list is bogus; he answers people on the list, while trying to make it appear that he isn’t answering them. How long will he keep this up, now that he’s been revealed? We’ll see, as I’ll be tracking him around, to show everyone who might happen upon TP that Jake is a flake.

April 15th, 2007 at 10:53 amWhat is the mission in Iraq? What do our tank drivers, artillerymen, and infantry soldiers need to accomplish before they can come home? How long will this war go on? Victory means exit strategy, and our president needs to tell us what that exit strategy is.

April 15th, 2007 at 10:55 am“I think it’s also important for the president to lay out a timetable as to how long they will be involved and when they will be withdrawn.â€
April 15th, 2007 at 11:04 am11 - only if you personally accompany the military officers as they tell parents and loved ones of their son’s/daughter’s/husband’s/wife’s/father’s/mother’s death between today and January 21, 2009.
Their loved one will have died, just so Bush’s War won’t end on Bush’s watch. Their lives will be extinguished, just so Bush can falsely claim He was winning the war, and falsely lay the blame for His fiasco on someone else.
You can explain to them your compromise which postponed doing the right thing in Iraq, and, as a result, their loved one got blown to bits. You can give them the flag from the coffin, and thank them for their loved one’s sacrifice.
Plan on visiting 3-4 (or more) families a day, 7 days a week, from now until then. That’s over 2,000 visits, 2,000 more American women and men blown to pieces, 2,000 more families destroyed. 2,000 more mothers clutching a flag instead of their son or daughter.
April 15th, 2007 at 11:17 amhmmm. 25% say the escalation is “working”, but for some reason those same folks don’t want to redeploy american soldiers 11 months from now.

For the record, I served in Baghdad during Operation Iraqi Freedom from 2003 to 2004. What is our military mission in Iraq, Jake. Who is the enemy? The mission of the Korean war was to fight the spread of communism. The enemy was the North Korean military.

April 15th, 2007 at 5:20 pmFrom WashingtonPost today:
“On the afternoon of July 8, 2006, four private security guards rolled out of Baghdad’s Green Zone in an armored SUV. The team leader, Jacob C. Washbourne, rode in the front passenger seat. He seemed in a good mood. His vacation started the next day.
“I want to kill somebody today,” Washbourne said, according to the three other men in the vehicle, who later recalled it as an offhand remark. Before the day was over, however, the guards had been involved in three shooting incidents. In one, Washbourne allegedly fired into the windshield of a taxi for amusement, according to interviews and statements from the three other guards.”
Looks like Blackwater is starting to eat their own.
April 15th, 2007 at 5:28 pmFor the record, the only ways to get on the “Ignore List” is to resort to personal attacks and/or refuse to answer my questions — all I ask for is Common Courtesy — but, I don’t keep track of what day and time people get added to the IGNORE List. I’m sorry, but I won’t answer any more questions once you get added to the IGNORE List. That would kinda defeat the whole purpose of the IGNORE List.
