“A Washington Post-ABC News poll of 1,141 adults, conducted April 12-15, found that 58 percent trusted the Democrats in Congress to do a better job handling the situation in Iraq, compared to 33 percent who trusted Bush.”
UPDATE: Kevin Drum notes this graph from the Post story:
The president has taken advantage of the congressional spring recess to pound Democrats over their legislation, which would impose benchmarks for the Iraqi government to meet, set strict rules for resting, equipping and training combat troops, and set a 2008 date for the final withdrawal of U.S. troops. Despite those efforts, Bush has actually lost a little ground to Democrats, who were trusted by 54 percent to set Iraq policy in February.
Drum says, “This reminds me of the Social Security fiasco: every time Bush opened his mouth on the subject, polls moved in the opposite direction. Now the same thing is happening with Iraq. If he had any brains, he’d just shut up and try to ride it out. His mouth is his own worst enemy.”
They didn’t ask me.
April 16th, 2007 at 6:34 pmJake = Homo ignoramus.
April 16th, 2007 at 6:38 pmOF COURSE THE PUBLIC TRUSTS CONGRESS MORE THAN BUSH.
April 16th, 2007 at 6:40 pmNo one trusts Busch, they may blindly follow him, but nobody trusts him…..
April 16th, 2007 at 6:40 pmExample: Would you buy a used car from this man?
After 6 years of failure, incompetence, ineptitude, and gross neglect, aWol is being seen for the miserable failure he is. Those who continue to buy into his stupid shit are beyond help.
April 16th, 2007 at 6:42 pmJake sez:
Og course they didn’t, Jakers. From the above (emphasis mine):
Now do you see why your opinion wasn’t solicited? ^_^
April 16th, 2007 at 6:42 pmTraitors. The American people are traitors.
April 16th, 2007 at 6:45 pmWe are trying not to respond to him Trip.
April 16th, 2007 at 6:46 pmJake,
Your intent to co-opt any thread into your own without adding anything intelligent to the conversation is becoming more and more clear with every post.
You are the definition of a troll that does nothing more than annoy everyone. Congratulations!! Is this what you are seeking out of life?
April 16th, 2007 at 6:50 pmWill Congress get the message?
We aren’t interested in compromising with this failure of a president. We want our representatives to act on our behalf and carry out the mandate we gave them in November:
What Part of NO…
Show some courage congress, we’ve got your back!
April 16th, 2007 at 6:52 pm‘jake’ is on the rapidly swelling ignore-ance list….pass it on…..
April 16th, 2007 at 6:55 pmJake the Joke: “they didn’t ask me.”
Let’s add statistical polling to the list of things poor Jake the Joke doesn’t understand.
April 16th, 2007 at 6:57 pmBecause you fit squarely in with the 28%ers. You are an independent neocon stooge. Have some more Kool-aide.
April 16th, 2007 at 7:01 pmHow can they do that when Congess hasn’t done anything?
April 16th, 2007 at 7:01 pmWhy do 58 percent of 1,141 polled adults hate our freedom, hate America, coddle Osama bin Laden, and give comfort to our enemies?
April 16th, 2007 at 7:03 pmWassamatter Tracy, the hottub broken this weekend?
April 16th, 2007 at 7:03 pmYou just keep telling yourself that, while we all participate in a little reality.
April 16th, 2007 at 7:07 pmJake is becomg quite unstable as of late. He won’t answer any questions, has some kind of list, makes truly unrealistic and paranoid remarks, stays up all night and day posting illogical statements. Anyone that doesn’t agree with his ideology is a traitor.
Jake go get some sleep dude and stop focusing on politics for a few days. Go outside and do some yardwork, go to the park, get a jigsaw puzzle to put together. DO SOMETHING.
April 16th, 2007 at 7:08 pmTracy: “How can they do that when Congess hasn’t done anything?”
Poor Tracy. She watches FOX. They never talk about anything the Democratic congress does.
April 16th, 2007 at 7:08 pmHopefully Congress will make a wise decision. I think it would be a mistake to just leave Iraq without enforcing a plan and some measures that would ensure that Iraq does not implode. Our government really needs to partner with world leaders to devise an economic plan to make sure what happened in Afghanistan does not happen in Iraq. The only answer to the Iraqi and Middle-eastern problems is an economic one where Iraq can be rebuilt and thrive in the future. The recent wave of protests and escalating attacks proves that what we are doing is not working so there needs to be an alternative that is economical rather than violent.
According to the Borgen Project, $340 billion has already been spent in Iraq and we have a $522 billion military budget. What has resulted from that money? The money would be better spent on plans such as the UN Millennium Development Goals to end global poverty. Just $19 billion annually can end starvation and malnutrition. Issues such as poverty foster a lot of the tensions that exist in the world today. As leaders in this world, we really need to get behind peaceful growth rather than war.
April 16th, 2007 at 7:17 pmIs this the same Tracy who said gasoline would not reach $3.00 a gallon?
Will this site ever attract intelligent trolls? Hey I made a joke, an oxymoron, cause Jake and Tracy are eight sided idiots!!!
April 16th, 2007 at 7:18 pmThis is certainly not surprising at all in view of Bush’s previous lies about this war. Not surprising in the least! Bush has squandered the trust of the american people and has abused the power of his office while destroying our democracy in one fell swoop.
Go to bradblog.com to see the latest voting machine debacle and how our federal “oversight” agency is refusing to acknowledge the work of computer programmers and scientists who have found viral vulnerabilities in both IVotronic machines (E S & S) nationwide as well as the same problem found by Hursti/Princeton University in the Diebold machines.
One person can now remotely install a virus which eliminates or flips all votes in a given county. Anyone still wondering how Bush stole the election in 2004??
It’s all there…..read it before voting in 08! Another corrupt Bushie department!
April 16th, 2007 at 7:21 pmSome societies want a “StrongMan” to run them. People feel “safe” behind such people. Until the “StrongMan” screws up. Then sometimes people turn on the “StrongMan” and show him to be a babbling fool that he always was.
April 16th, 2007 at 7:23 pm#20 Hey Ellie! All the altruism in the world can’t save Iraq from itself and what we’ve instigated there. If we are basing our involvement militarily in Iraq somehow magically getting under control, then we can count on having a military operation there ad infinitum! It’s a nice thought to have a “plan”; however, Bush never did have a plan at the outset so how can one measure if a fictitious plan ever worked. As for a plan now, this nightmare has grown exponentially to the point that there can be no realistic “plan for success”. Most people now believe that “success” will be measured by how quickly the US gets out of the country – both the Iraqis and americans no longer want this involvement.
As for the money and what it “could have been used for”, that’s becoming totally amoral. We have so much hunger, poverty, lack of health care, mortgages tanking and people losing their homes, and folks having to decide between buying gas to get to work or have their kids eat that it’s ridiculous to see this money just being poured down the drain of corruption, greed, and murder.
Before another dime should be spent there, Bush should have to account to the people (after all it is OUR money paying the tab AND that fool’s salary) for the billions of dollars that are still “AWOL’ – yes, missing and not accounted for in Iraq. I have a feeling that if you check offshore BushCo accounts, you’d find a nice nest egg of it there.
Although your candor is welcome and your altruism and idealism appreciated, I don’t believe that your solution is feasible or practical….not to mention realistic.
April 16th, 2007 at 7:26 pmP.S. That “viral vulnerability” that eliminates votes, by the way, is absolutely “non detectable”….. still wondering about the legitimacy of this presidency???
April 16th, 2007 at 7:28 pm#23 The “strong man” is actually the “little man behind the curtain at Oz” otherwise known as the DC “Fool on the Hill”, I’m sorry to say.
April 16th, 2007 at 7:28 pmJake is a FAKE folks, he is between 26 and 32, more than likely a PAID troll, look at the hours he logs in here. And Jerk Jake if you aren’t paid you most certainly are a loser with no life at all (well except for your date, the sex blowup doll sitting next to you)
Hating Repukes Daily

Yes, but you 30%s are well accounted for. That’s how *math* and *statistics* work son.
When you outgrow your diapers, the adults can explain it to. In the meantime, put the pacifier back in your mouth, and let the grown ups talk for a while, OK, SON?
April 16th, 2007 at 7:55 pm#17
What has congress actually done in regards to Iraq?
April 16th, 2007 at 8:15 pm#21
You don’t even remember what that little conversation between me and unbelievable was about…do you?
April 16th, 2007 at 8:17 pm#19
What have they done?
April 16th, 2007 at 8:17 pmThey are trying to get our troops the fu*k out of there, just like the majority of Americans want, but that is being stopped by your master. Stupid fu*k.
They have tried to raise the minimum wage. They have tried to do a lot of things that were blocked by republicans and Bush.
The voters will remember, even if you don’t.
April 16th, 2007 at 8:18 pmWhat has congress actually done in regards to Iraq?
Comment by Tracy — April 16, 2007 @ 8:15 pm
For the last 6 years under GOP control, they’ve done whatever Bush wanted.
See, America realizes we had an election in 2006, even though you don’t, and that Congress is now controlled by Democrats that aren’t Bush’s rubber stamp.
A better question is what have you Cons done in regards to Iraq, other than refuse to serve there, b*tch about how public debate is ‘bad for morale’, and f*ck up everything you touch?
Tracy, you’re a loser. If you had any b*lls between those chicken legs of yours, you’d be at the recruitment office. You aren’t, therefore you’re a hypocrite, a coward and a fool.
April 16th, 2007 at 8:20 pmWhat have they done?
Comment by Tracy — April 16, 2007 @ 8:17 pm
They’ve reintroduced accountability and the will of the people in the legislative process. Since you value neither, you don’t recognize the change.
Jake*ss.
April 16th, 2007 at 8:21 pmJake is a FAKE folks, he is between 26 and 32, more than likely a PAID troll,
Could be. If so, I’d bet he just got disconnected from the mother ship and is now being forced to write things on his own. We are seeing the true intellect of Jake and it’s about the size of a pea.
April 16th, 2007 at 8:26 pmNot news.
People are generally distrustful of Gvt…..more so of this administration because of the way that they favored cronies and screwed up every aspect or wet dream of any proper government function.
What kind of retard would trust the Bush Administration to tie his shoes at this point in time??!!?
April 16th, 2007 at 8:26 pmThis administration is so bad any sane person would trust a poison can of imported pet food before they would trust any republican’s ever again….g.w.bush the worst president in the history of america, cheney the most evil person alive, rove, the evil cheney clone…….Blessings, we realy need them now…Peace, demand it..
April 16th, 2007 at 9:01 pmFrankly, I wouldn’t trust Bush to mow my lawn.
April 16th, 2007 at 9:23 pmI’de like to go all over them all with my big John Deer riding mower…Their asses are grass and I want to be the one to mow them…..Blessings

“A better question is what have you Cons done in regards to Iraq, other than refuse to serve there”
You aren’t down there signing up or serving so don’t even coward.
April 16th, 2007 at 9:52 pm#34
No they haven’t. They talk and that’s all they do.
April 16th, 2007 at 9:53 pm#32
BTW why do you try and censor yourself? Just say what you mean….if you have the courage.
April 16th, 2007 at 9:56 pmI knew Tracy when she was young and fun. She would dance on the table and gobble the gook all night. Good to see you survived those wild rides Tracy. Glad your guts didn’t fall out your loosus anus.
After taking it in the butt for all the long 6 years with Boy George and his pathetic cabal, I am surprised any of us made it.
It’s your turn in the barrel bitch.
April 16th, 2007 at 10:47 pmYou aren’t down there signing up or serving so don’t even coward. Comment by Tracy — April 16, 2007 @ 9:52 pm
I’m not the one blindly supporting the war, with everything but what it counts – that’s you. So you’re still the hypocrite, except now you look even more st*pid for making this comment!
Coward!
April 16th, 2007 at 11:35 pmNo they haven’t. They talk and that’s all they do.
Comment by Tracy — April 16, 2007 @ 9:53 pm
Actually they both pass legislation, and fight against the fillibuster do nuthun republic*nts to pass legislation.
As I said before, your ignorance, just proves you’re ignorant – it doesn’t prove your point – COWARD!
April 16th, 2007 at 11:37 pmIt should be noted that Nancy Pelosi’s approval GREW after the Syria trip according to this Washington Post/ABC poll.
Her approval is now 53%.
April 16th, 2007 at 11:37 pmBTW why do you try and censor yourself? Just say what you mean….if you have the courage. Comment by Tracy — April 16, 2007 @ 9:56 pm
What, you’re too st*pid to know what I mean? Were you homeschooled junior? Coming from someone that blabbers on about supporting Iraq, and doesn’t sign up himself, pardon me if I find it *ironic* you accuse others of lacking courage. We call that a *projection*, Junior.
When your b*lls drop down into your sack, and you get your p*bes, maybe they’ll let a little worthless piece of sh*t like you serve in Iraq. Assuming you don’t tell, when they ask.
April 16th, 2007 at 11:39 pmChingebush,
April 17th, 2007 at 8:05 amHow do you “gobble the gook’”? What’s a “loosus anus”?
Hey Tracy how old are you?
Regardless whether you are a woman or a man if you are not too old why didn’t you join the Army or something to proof your support for the Bush and his war in Iraq?
And if you are too old (which i doubt) or too young to join then i’ve got an advice for you.
Start Thinking For Yourself
April 17th, 2007 at 8:15 am#48
“What, you’re too st*pid to know what I mean?”
Yeah I do but the question is are you too much of a wimp to say what you mean in this blog. Again why do you censor yourself from your own foul language?
“Coming from someone that blabbers on about supporting Iraq, and doesn’t sign up himself, pardon me if I find it *ironic* you accuse others of lacking courage.”
No I am accusing you of lacking courage on two counts. One from not signing up for military service and another for using cuss words but not having the guts to post them.
April 17th, 2007 at 4:14 pm#36
“Actually they both pass legislation, and fight against the fillibuster do nuthun republic*nts to pass legislation.”
If the Democrats were actually doing what they promised to do when they won congress last year they would be able to get enough votes to override the president’s veto and pull the funding for the troops. Maybe they need to buy some more votes.
April 17th, 2007 at 4:17 pmBush is the most stupid, most dishonest, and the most psychopathic president EVER, and he has bankrupted this country. His administration is the one not supporting the troops. They came back injured and lay in filth at Walter Reed Army Hospital where Bush had a LOT of photo-ops there. Seems to me he would have see this if he had truly wanted to see what was going on. Just like forbidding showing caskets returning to America, Bush wants the truth hidden. Oh, Dear God, just wait until the truth–and as always, it will come out–comes out about this administration. Let’s start with Cheney’s company Haliburton and all the money he has made off of this war. Makes you sick!
