Regent Univ. scrubs references to administration.

The Carpetbagger Report notes: “About a week ago, Slate’s Dahlia Lithwick noted a tidbit that the rest of us missed: TV preacher Pat Robertson’s Regent University boasts that 150 of its graduates, including former top DoJ aide Monica Goodling, are serving in some capacity in the Bush administration. … [S]hortly after Lithwick’s piece was published and the 150 figure quickly drew national attention (and a Paul Krugman column), Regent edited its About Us page — and removed the reference to the 150 Bush-hired alumni.”

Nope, nothing to see here. Move along. …

  2. veritas says:

Oh, you mean those Reich-wing Christo-Fascists who populate Bush’s administration?

  3. veritas says:

Perhaps they can assuage their feelings of claustrophobia in jail by reading bible verses to each other?

  4. Proud Dem says:

What, they don’t like all that free publicity????

  5. B.Fly says:

Just like I said in a previous thread: How does the college boast about placing people within the administration on their brocures to prospective parents, without noting that these same people are now threatening to take the Fifth? Not exactly a glowing testimonial.

  6. Pete Bogs says:

actually, nowadays it’s embarrassing to be associated with the administration, not something to be proud of…

  7. Republicans Are The Fear And Smear Party says:

150…now there’s something to be ashamed of.

On a more apropos note: go to http://www.bradblog.com for the latest news regarding the vulnerability of IVotronic Machines (E S & S) and their viral “vote-flipping” attack. Why should anyone bother to vote these days??

  9. Bones says:

I’m surprised Goodling didn’t take the ‘5th’, rather than be listed.

Ahhhh, Pat Robertson. A certified nutcase whacko who has made threats much scarier than anything Don Anus said. The 700 Club guarantees a ticket to heaven! If you believe that, send me money weekly & I’ll continue to guarantee your passage!

Religion gone wild! See it on TV! See our President hire these weirdo’s.

    Check your TV Guide.
Check your brain at the door.

How dare they turn Christ into a used car salesman!

  10. veritas says:

Association with THIS administration would be a definite “turn off” and discourage prospective attendees at this point. Obviously, this University is not very savvy or intelligent with their PR choices.

  11. Zimzone says:

Pat Robertson has met the devil…it’s himself.

I recommend you listen to the song “Jesus, He Knows Me” by Genesis. It goes along the same lines.

Then there’s all of those Jimmy Swaggert Bible College people. And how about Falwell’s “White Redeemers”. What must be funny is when they go out in their college gear and people laugh at them. What kind of idiot would even consider bearing that scarlet letter. Seriously, Evangelical Christian University? Kind of sounds like Military Intelligence or Republican Oversight Committee. Anybody dumb enough to walk around saying “I’m for Jesus!” gets exactly what they deserve.

And what of Rectal Roberts’ City of Faith hospital? It’s design didn’t incorporate an in-house oxygen system! For almost a year, they were operating, using O2 tanks! How freakin’ dumb was that?

  15. Eskwaya says:

Regent Law School is to the legal education as Scientology is to religion. Neither one is intended to produce the logical result (a competent lawyer/a good samaritan), but to serve another purpose altogether.

  16. Publius says:

This is only the tip of the incompetence iceberg – take a look at Bush’s Sudan ambassador.

  17. Eureka Springs, AR says:

Bill Maher used that information on his show last week…it was a work of beauty…. he may have caused them to strike it from their web site…don’t know the timing.

  18. kelso says:

I can’t wait until that wacko Pat Robertson tells everyone on the 700 club that the shooting at Virginia Tech is because of ‘the gays’.

How could anybody have any pride in ‘earning’ a degree from a ‘university’ like Regent?

I have a serious problem with this comment. I understand that there are a fair number of people on this site that are atheists, which they have every right to be. But my biggest problem with the far-right Christian movement is that they are NOT Christians, but lead people astray from the wisdom of those words. I’m a liberal (perhaps even a radical), but I’m also a Christian. Not a fundamentalist or a dogmatist regarding any particular dogma. Heck, I’m not even a church-goer anymore because of the influence of the Right on today’s churches. But Jesus taught a way of life and thinking that I believe in and try to follow. Read the Sermon on the Mount. Jesus was something of a radical for his times himself, which is exactly why he was such a threat to the established religion/government at the time. Please don’t condemn the words and teaching of Jesus, because people in the past and in the present have twisted those words to justify hate and war.

  20. Upstate Guy says:

Actually this is good. It shows that they feel the need to hide what they are doing. They know they are doing wrong. Too bad this small move won’t be reported in the MSM…

  21. Mr. Bush Goes To Hell says:

The REFERENCES in the website are REMOVED.

    The sycophant “loyal Bushies” REMAIN

See you in hell loyal BushieNazis (cause I’LL be THERE),

    Mr. Bush
    MURDEROUS WAR CRIMINAL
COXUCKER PUNK TRAITOR TO THE USA
    “For The Record”

  22. JohnDWoodSr says:

I wonder if the jerks at Jesus Is Law A&M, otherwise known as Regent, get any Federal money to churn out traitorous hacks. If so, I’m gonna withhold my taxes in protest. Pat Robertson should be clubbed 700 times for setting up his fourth-rate terrorist training camp.

  23. Shawn Fassett says:

Didn’t Max Blumenthal beat Dahlia Lithwick to the punch on this story?

  24. angryvietnamvet says:

Find these fascist vermin cloaked in their christonazi agenda and exterminate them by any means possible. And let us not stop there but proceed to shut down their tax free indoctrination centers which are nothing but academies for subversion and treason.

  25. JStraight says:

Regent University plays hide and seek with 150 Bush admin alumni — Now they’re here… Now they’re not!

As late as 6 April, 2007, Regent University’s “facts” web page proudly boasted that they had:

“150 graduates serving in the Bush Administration.”

Between April 6 and April 12, the University removed that statement from their web site and, for at least several days, (April 12-16) there was no statement listed at all about any Regent U. graduates working for the Bush administration.

Sometime on April 16, a new statement appeared on their “facts” page:

“150 students have served in the Bush administration.”
    http://www.regent.edu/general/about_us/facts.cfm

Apparently, not all of the 150 are still “serving” Bush, but does this statement also mean that some of those 150 “students” never actually graduated from the U?

  26. KH says:

It’s April 27 and the “about us” fact is there.
