Senate confirms ethics inquiry into Domenici.»

John Bresnahan reports:

The Senate, thanks a resolution it just adopted, has confirmed that Sen. Pete Domenici (R-N.M.) is the subject of “preliminary inquiry” over his involvement in the firing of former U.S. Attorney David Iglesias.

The Senate just adopted a resolution (S. Res. 153) stating that “for matters before the Select Committee on Ethics involving the preliminary inquiry arising in connection with alleged communications by persons within the committee’s jurisdiction with and concerning David C. Iglesias, then United States Attorney for the District of New Mexico, and the subsequent action by the committee with respect to that matter, if any, the Senator from Colorado (Mr. Salazar) shall be replaced by the Senator from Ohio (Mr. Brown).”

The passage of the resolution confirms that Domenici is being scrutinized by the Ethics Committee over a phone call he made to Iglesias, prior to the November election, inquiring whether Iglesias was going to indict some New Mexico Democrats. Up until this point, the Ethics Committee has refused to state whether it is actually investigating Domenici.

    Good.

  2. Raven Says:

They might slap his patty, lightly… censure or some such.
Domenici has friends that would throw Bush into the abyss before Oily Peter…….

    This is getting good.

  4. Zooey Says:

Oy, how embarrassing. Should have been straight up, eh Pete?

  5. smafdy Says:

    Hey, Y’all:

I think I killed Jake (I told him how much his BS benefitted our ability to react to neocon talking points). Now I think he’s dead - he hasn’t posted all day.

    Good.

  6. Zooey Says:

    smafdy,

    Now you’ve summoned him…..oy.

  7. smafdy Says:

uh…is there any way to put a cork in the bottle?

  8. Marie Says:

Jeez - you don’t miss him do you?!
    Be glad he’s “out.”

  9. Zooey Says:

    smafdy,

No idea. Good luck with that one.
I wish there was a way to put a cork in the juvenile male turkey.

    Heh.

  10. Marie Says:

Domenici is considering retiring - wonder why?
This investigation may not produce anything despite its potential, but if it results in his leaving, a Democrat can take his place. One more for our side.

BTW, Johnson is making much improvement and his office is being fitted for handicap, in preparation for his return.

Jake is coming back as “Angela” a 5 year old catholic grandma from Queens who’s grandson…let’s call him “Joey”… is an SPC serving in Iraq. “Angela” is helping the wife…”Theresa” with the “twins”. they’re infants, all three of them (yes, his story already has holes in it) and they haven’t been named, or baptized because the family wants to wait until “Joey” gets back from fighting them over there so his kids won’t have to fight them here damn it. Every time we post about bush on this site, well “Joey’s ” morale just goes down the tubes! Don’t you feel guilty already?

  12. JPark Says:

#10 Domenici was planning on retiring anyway. Hopefully Dems can flip his seat. Heather Wilson was supposed to be the heir apparent but I am thinking she might be a little tarnished now.

  13. Raven Says:

Will ‘angela’ be wearing a bath robe and slippers when she posts?

  14. Raven Says:

A large land grant (from way back in the Spanish times, I believe)
on the west side of Albuquerque was liquidated recently. The members of the trust all received their monies.
Far less in total, compared to what it is now worth in the hands of the developers.
At the time of voting for it’s liquidation, the issue arose of Domenici having bought a large parcel directly on the borders of this land grant. He stood to benefit greatly from the sale.

  15. Clyde the Ripper Says:

One down 47 to go. The Senate should investigate every Rethug Senator and declare them unfit to vote until the results of the investigation/charges are published. At the very least they could be charged with a SWD. Senating While Dumb.

  20. Bob Loblaw Says:

This will need to produce more than a spanking to threaten Domenici. The only person in NM who could mount a credible campaign against him is running for President. If he decides to retire, however, the D’s will be in a very good position.

  21. Jake-obin Says:

    Clinton made a phone call.

The wheels on the bus go round and round,
    round and round

The wheels on the bus go round and round
    all over Domenici”

    Hey, so I can’t rhyme. Let’s all sing along…

The wheels on the bus come off the bus
    off the bus
    off the bus
the wheels on the bus come off the bus
    All over us.
    :-(

You folks at TP and CAP are gonna have your hands full making logical arguements against Richard Perle on PBS’s America at a Crossroad.
You better get busy and do your research because I’ll be quoting him frequently.

In the meantime, the Democratic Congress is doing the PEOPLES’ BUSINESS of investigating the TRAITORS which are BushCrime (TM)

He just said there was a time when Americans thought the Soviet Union and it’s type of communism were here to stay according to the left, equating the current lefty idea about terror.

For the latest news, hearings, legal filings and other essential documents on the Bush DOJ prosecutor firings, see:

  32. jeff Says:

Perle said one very important thing tonight. And he did it while at the same time he had conversations with VIPs who dissagreed with him. He put there himself out and took it like a man while people like Buchanan through it all in his face. But he said “no terror? no American involvment” (para).
And it really is that simple. And he was not shy about the reality that the Neocons want to use the Iranian youth to overthrow the Islamic Republic. And I’m here to tell you that is how it’s going to play out. Period. The only remaining question is will the military be involved or not.

  33. ForTruth Says:

It’s my understanding this guy is a moron. Could we also get that Heather lady too? She’s a real peice of work.

As long as folks are going down.

News is rally getting sparse when one sees the Honorable(?) Sen. Pete Domenici’s name and the word ‘ethics’ in a single sentence.

  37. Roket Says:

Oops. Another one bites the dust. Who will be next? *snickers*

  38. Shawn Says:

Can we organize as group to put pressure on somebody in the House and try to force them to file an ethics complaint against Heather Wilson? I’ll put in time/effort for this…

I just searched for about 10 minutes online for a clear and usable list of House Democrats…couldn’t find shit. Slow connection so I gave up. Anybody find and post a list so we can decide some likely targets?
