Straight talk express.»

McCain today: “Am I telling you we’re going to succeed? No. But I’m telling you I think we’ve got a good chance of succeeding.” McCain, also today, at the same event: “We’re going to win. We will. We will never surrender.” All aboard!

“We may not succeed but we’re going to win!” - John McCain

  9. tarazan Says:

McCain is playing the three cards game…’Not succeding’, but ‘a good chance of succeeding’.

He is telling us:’don’t catch me on this one…’

‘The more I buy Iraqis rugs, the more ‘am confident of winning’…

  10. Abby Says:

Fingers in the ears, eyes shut tight, and shouting, “na na na na” as loud as you can will not make reality go away. We cannot “win” this abomination in Iraq - even if we knew what winning meant. If a win is a “free and democratic Iraq”, Iran wins, not us. Iran has already won the war in Iraq irrespective of whether we win or lose in Iraq.

We have already lost this thing. All denial is doing is making sure the eventual loss will be much bigger than it has to be.

  11. Republicans are the Fear and Smear Party Says:

The majority of Americans want us out of Iraq but John McCain will never surrender to democracy.

At least Bush stays on message. McCain has killed his chances of winning the presidency. He must eat at Waffle House.

  16. paland Says:

I was talking to a pro war Republican the other day and he was saying that we needed to keep fighting over there. I then asked him, “Fighting Who?” He looked blank for about two seconds and then changed the subject. He said we should not surrender and I asked him “surrender to who? Who is the enemy?” And once again the blank stare was there. Then, after a few seconds, he said terrorists. I asked who specifically were the terrorists in Iraq, he once again had no answer. I decided to ask him one more question, I asked “What do you mean by winning? Who do we specifically need to defeat to win? The Iraqi’s? Aren’t we trying to help them?” He just walked away at that point.

It is an eye opener to see the look on these neocons faces when you ask them such simple questions. It is telling that they don’t know who they are really fighting. They don’t have answers. They are fighting a vague verb. Something that is made up in the minds of these neocons yet doesn’t have substance. Who exactly is the enemy? The Iraqis? The Sunni’s including Saudi Arabia? The Shiites who we are supposedly helping? The Shiites of Iran? Just who? Remember that by all military accounts, Al Qaeda is in Pakistan and not Iraq.

So just who are GWB, Leiberman and McCain trying to win against?

  17. Bill from Dover Says:

Heck, I thought he was talking about his campaign.

  18. chadwick Says:

    McCain= Captain Irrelevant.

  19. Anderson Says:

Republican presidential candidate John McCain told voters Wednesday that if he becomes commander in chief he’ll brief the public biweekly from the Oval Office on developments in the Iraq war.
“I would tell them exactly what the battlefield scenario is,”

Uh, and why would we believe you?

  20. Jericho Says:

Wars that can be won are so fourties.

  21. Rebel in CA Says:

Humpty McFlip-Flop has completely self-destructed and just like Dumty nothing can put him back together.

Full speed ahead for the Double-talk Repress and it’s conductor maverick turned pander-bear st. mccain!
Does he say anything that he hasn’t previously repudiated anymore?

I wouldn’t be surprised if the eventual gop candidate isn’t any of the three top frontrunners right now.

  23. david Says:

McCain should rename it the ‘Don’t Ask: Don’t Tell’ Express.

  27. TheHeathen Says:

    Go for it, John
I understand there’s some real cheap one-way fares available. Great deals on family plans, body bags included.
Travel light - you don’t need all those extra clothes.
Take a friend or two along, Dubya and Dead-Eye-Dick or Queen Condi. They could all use a nice long well-deserved vacation.
    Loveya

  28. Devil's Advocate Says:

McCain is fighting the Vietnam war all over again. He was a prisoner of war for five years, so how the hell does he know his ass from his elbow about what went on while he was in the Hilton hotel?

More to the point, McCain is full of sh*t. Instead of reacting like a mensch after the Rove campaign smear on his wife and adopted daughter, he went on pissing on his family by pandering to Bush donors, and the religious right.

McCain is a whore, and a desperate one at that. No wonder his wife never appears with him on the campaign trail: he has sold her and their children for his political ambitions.

  29. john Says:

Nothing can stop the straight talk express… nothing…
