    37% think he’s cute!

  3. profmarcus says:

i don’t know how anyone can watch gonzo’s performance and not have serious, SERIOUS doubts about whether or not he is telling the truth… at the last break, i overheard someone on cnn pipeline say that they had counted 55 “i don’t recall’s” just to that point in the hearing… unbelievable… now, he’s under oath, so THAT will be interesting…

And, yes, I DO take it personally

  4. Fritz says:

I can tell that he’s lying – his lips are moving.

  5. Tom says:

I have been listening in to Gonzo’s testimony this morning . . . and it is appalling! He reminds me of Larry Storch’s character on “F Troop”. What a clueless, self-impressed idiot (kind of like his boss, GDumbya).

It is crystal-clear that he is in way over his head as Attorney General (which is true of most all of GDumbya’s cronies). The moron has virtually no management capability at all — nor has he any credibility. His whole and sole purpose is to white wash this affair.

GDumbya and Co. got caught with their hand in the cookie jar this time!

  6. Sharon says:

Count me in on that 63%…Blessings, we need them..Impeachment should be mandatory for all reich winger’s….Peace, make it happen..Send Love and healing thought’s out to RUCerious and all in need of them, tell some one you love them and please plant a tree incase we are lucky enough to have a future we can have good air to breath..

  7. B.Fly says:

Watch that number rise after the hearings.

  8. Bob says:

The other 37% don’t read or watch TV and/or Fox is their only source of “news”.

I like “Seedy” Gonzales’s statement to the effect that “I now understand that I talked to the preznit…. (quote aproximate, but you get the tenor of the statement). That what gobsmacking, whomperjawed pathetic. That needs to be played over and over.

    Cheers,

Disgraced minister Ted Haggard making Phoenix his home
    Associated Press
    Apr. 19, 2007 04:42 PM

The Rev. Ted Haggard moved Wednesday from his longtime home in Colorado Springs to Phoenix, where the disgraced minister will join the same church that helped fallen televangelist Jim Bakker.

One more stupid thing about Arizona. We draw the best and brightest here.

  13. Raven says:

Lucky for you dung won’t roll uphill, for truth…….

  14. Joe Sixpack says:

Go ahead, Progressives. Call Gonzo a lying ass. Call him an inept, bungling, bubble-headed bunghole. Call him an unqualified idealogue who is in way over his head.

But if you do, you have to say the same about the man who appointed him.

  15. Angry One says:

In his testimony regarding the U.S. attorneys scandal before the Senate Judiciary Committee this morning, Attorney General Alberto Gonzales once again offered his Sgt. Schultz defense. Like the bumbling German guard in Hogan’s Heroes, Gonzales essentially claimed “I know nothing, nothing!” Sadly, his own recent statements show that while Gonzales may be similarly stupid, he is not ignorant.

The Attorney General’s recent op-eds show his dilemma. While claiming to have played no role in the evaluation of the fired attorneys, Gonzales claimed they lost his confidence nonetheless…

    For the details, see:
    “Gonzales’ Sgt. Schultz Defense.”

For the latest news, document dumps, email archives, hearing transcripts and other essential materials in the firings of U.S. attorneys, see:
    “The U.S. Attorney Scandal Documents.”

  16. Buck Fush says:

That is because HE IS LYING, the repuke MAFIA members all lie, they saw that the Don W could LIE all the time and get away with it, why not them.
Repukes have become nothing less than the 21st century MAFIA, criminals all, and their supports that know that are all criminals in their support for them. Send them all to jail.

    Hating repukes daily

    Good point Raven,

Hopefully Ted won’t hear about the “cool pines” up North. If I see him around I am gonna ask him where to get some meth, and no I don’t like mansex.

  18. Raven says:

    Where did Haggard settle?

    Sun (Don’t Shine) City?

  19. Keith H. says:

The other 37 percent don’t even know who Alfredo Garbonzo is !

  20. j.j. says:

yeah, let us rely so much in these polls that are taken after the media has brainwashed people against Gonzalez.

thinkprogress.org you are only lying to yourself. If the media dared report the news and educate Americans on the truth, I guarantee you that the poll would be completly oppossite.

but not that thinkprogress.org cares about the truth.

anyway, leave it to liberals to formulate their opinions according to what polls say……

  21. I Voted for Kodos says:

This is a nit-picky point, but I always notice it whenever these poll results are posted on Think Progress. Sixty three percent is actually the proportion of Americans who think Gonzo is lying, not the number. Let it not be said progressives have no sense of language precision!

  22. DRxJ says:

    Comment by nully— April 19, 2007 @ 1:57 pm

What was the poll asking? Oh yeah, how many “think” gonzales lied, not how many “know” he lied.
Geez, can we please get a more intelligent troll who only breaks down when confronted with his loneliness and his misogynists posts?

  23. Nicollo MacPlato says:

It is possible you know that Gonzo really didn’t know the internals of how the purge was going on and who was being put on the list. It is possible that Gonzo didn’t do anything but sign-of to the resulting list.

    How

Well, try this one on for size. Suppose the IncompetentCorruptAmericanPrince and Karl had 1) Gonzo just be a toadying figurehead at the JustUs department and 2) loaded the department with young ideological toadies (Sampson, Goodling, McNulty, Pulose etc) who understood that a) their job was to purge and b) that their real boss was Karl. They also understood the c) it was most important to keep it all away from Capitol Hill oversight while d) curtsying to the Federalist Society.

Now, of course, Gonzo knew and knows well that being the ICAP’s and Karl’s butt boy was and is his purpose in life and wouldn’t have any complaints about the whole thing.

Not a one of you reading this would be shocked if this was the truth. Nor are you shocked that Gonzo would figuratively fall on his sword by literally allowing himself to be viewed (by the whole world) as a bumbling fool and liar as long as it confused the trail to the ICAP and Karl.

So, now ponder this. Why would Sampson just testify on the hill with no grant of immunity and with no (seemingly) loyalty to Gonzo ….. You got it – to put and keep the scent on Gonzo and off of the ICAP and Karl. And Gonzo’s in on the whole thing – has been all of his adult life.

If I’m wrong, you tell what is motivating an accredited toady like Sampson.

Lastly, is Goodling doing everything she can to not testify because she won’t lie under oath for the ICAP and Karl while Sampson would. Of course there are obvious lies and the kind of selective memory lapses the Gonzo and Sampson do. Sampson recalls everything that sticks out Gonzo but nothing that sticks out Karl, Harriet or the ICAP.

    Something to think about.

    So then

  24. IraqVet says:

    For a REPUBLICAN…37% is actually a victory!!!

    RE: BUSH Poll Numbers…

For Dumb Nuts, he actually thinks that it is cause for celebration!

  25. TripMaster Monkey says:

    j.j. sez:

If the media dared report the news and educate Americans on the truth, I guarantee you that the poll would be completly oppossite.

And what is this “truth”, j.j.? Do enlighten us.

When you’re done with that (and we’re done laughing), perhaps you can go do some research on the myth of the ‘liberal media’, so you can see why we were laughing so hard at you.

  26. Joel says:

with so many “I don’t recall” statements, makes a guy wonder how these blockheads manage to do ANYTHING.

  27. Tom says:

Gonzo is drowning this afternoon! Now he says the process “should have been more structured” when this morning he said that he resisted a formal review process. He continually says “I think I have been perfectly clear” when, in fact, he hasn’t been clear about anything, period.

If GDumbya doesn’t immediately ask for Gonzo’s resignation following today’s poor performance, it will absolutely speak volumes.

While Rush Limpballs, little Seanie Insanity and others rail on and on about how the Democrats are giving aid and comfort to our enemy, I really don’t think that anyone who is “our enemy” had to look any further than GDumbya, Darth Vader, Condoleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeezza or Gonzo. These incompetent, dishonest, insipid boobs are the ones who are giving us all a bad name.

  28. Tom says:

Now Coburn, a Republican from Oklahoma, is suggesting to Gonzo that he shouid suffer the same fate as those who attorneys who were fired! He said there needs to be a consequence for how poorly this matter was handled and encouraged him to resign.

It doesn’t get much better than this!

GDumbya, are you listening? The same can be said for you because — despite what you might think — the buck ultimately stops on your desk.

  29. Blue Healer says:

I can see it now… the GOP spin to get out from under another controversy.

PRESS: Congressman Tancredo, how do you feel about Gonzales’ testimony? Is he telling the truth?

CONGRESSMAN TANCREDO: Well, of course he is lying. This proves to America that we need to export all immigrants from Mexico back to Mexico. You just can’t trust any of them.

  30. ForTruth says:

It is pretty funny that dudes like JJ arrive with their worn out talking points thinking they really got something. Very funny.

We should charge these people for having to teach them that those old points are completely worn out, and have been dealt with over and over.

JJ you owe the TP posters compensation for the time it took to bring you up to speed.

  31. newbroom says:

    If he’s lying that’s strike three….
    Dignity, Credibility, Integrity….
Certainly today’s testimony revealed a lack of credibility. The top Law Enforcement Official in the United States also appeared to lack the necessary dignity for such an office as he fought to acquire credibility through his alarmingly faulty memory….the last? Integrity….did he lie?

Let’s just say that if he didn’t lie….he may not find his way home tonight with a memory like that.
