Apply yourself. Get all the education you can, but then, by God, do something. Don?t just stand there, make it happen

My God, actual truth from the Turd's lips! It was Bin Laden's Idea - Check out BL's list of justifications for 9/11 immediately after. Number one is to get the Infidel Troops (i.e. U.S.) troops OUT OF THE SACRED SOIL OF SAUDI ARABIA! So where to put all these thousands of Infidels if not SA? Check out the map; No better place than Iraq! How long? Until the oil runs out of course....

jeff, it is ok to like american idol, it really is. and soap opera's, sitcoms, b-movies, loud music, obnoxious humor, ish it's even ok to like what the bcs calls a national championship game. and white castle burgers and the national enquirer. but rove wishes a war didn't exist anymore now that its usefulness has expired. isn't that more than just being a complex man. i'm thinking of words like dishonest, disengenuous, manipulative, deceitful. is war to be a means to rove's political ends?

Whole things are crazy, at the same time revealing, that I read most of the posts (165 are posted so far).

#134 says: The title of this article is ridiculously misleading, and your random assortment of quotes are a joke. I’m assuming that the quote about how he thought it was Bin Laden is probably in reference to Bin laden starting the war by masterminding the attacks on our country on September 11, 2001 ( J T Stentson)

But, it sounds like Blacksburg's mass murderer's logic: "You cornered me. So, I go to kill. You are responsible for this." Imature, illogical, distorted and, you know, dangerous since Iraq has nothing to do with 9-11. Bush acted like the law of the universe has changed since 9-11 while asserting: "We are not intimidated!" As a child, it could be innocent, but as a leader of this size of country, mental illness.

Real danger is allowing mentally sick people to get power and weapons (military). American's allowed it, even after they saw enough craziness, gave them again to lead in 2004.

He (GW) doesn't need to be impeached, if (only if) he can act like statesman being courageous and humble enough to apology to the world (first of all, to America and Iraq, of course) and start negotiation with all sorrounded countries while setting target date of complete withdrawal. These three pillars doesn't stand if one is lacking; there is no other way to get around. America, get real before too late!!

OK so the whole US administration, from the president down, have been acting on Bin Laden's orders all along? Is this what Rove is admitting to here? If the Iraq war really was Bin Laden's idea, and it is an established fact that Bin Laden and Saddam Hussien where mortal enemies, so it could just be that Rove is correct and the Republican Administration were working for Bin Laden. certainly the AL-Queda recruitment has been boosted massively by the war, so Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice, Rove et all MUST have been working FOR Bin Laden. Therefore, the Whole Bush administration must be charged with treason and locked up in gitmo, waterboarded into a confession of guilt, then executed as terrorists.

This is the natural response to terrorism is it not? This will happen now, won't it? hello?won't it? eh?

There are a lot of idiotic comments here. Rove's statement is not in any way an expression of regret; he is simply saying, like most militarists, that we didn't start this war and only entered it because of we had to. Of course this is the same bullshit propaganda that Rove always spits out, but to dishonestly claim that Rove now regrets our war, or that he has had a change of mind just muddies the waters and brings us all further away from the truth.

This whole article is composed in a way that suggests (although the writer doesn't have the guts to say outright) that Rove is contradicting his earlier position. He is doing nothing of the sort. The war-pigs always claim that they do not want war but were forced into it by their enemies.

Many posters here need to look in the mirror if they want to know why Rove has been so succesful at winning elections.

our collective stupidity is astonishing. after the compounded misery, unbridled corruption, and depravity demonstrated by the neocon thugs currently running this nation, that any republican anywhere in the nation can still be elected to anything is beyond the relm of reason. in fact it is beyond the relm of rational thought that anyone, even the dumbest moron in the most desolate backwater would even admit to ever being a republican, yet not only do they continue being elected, thankfully in smaller and smaller numbers, they continue to pretend to hold the moral high ground and act righeously indignant over the activities of all who they consider inferior.

One argument made on USENET by a supporter of the war was that in order to pull our troops out of Saudi Arabia, as bin Laden wanted us to do, we would have to remove Saddam from power first. Sure enough--after we removed Saddam from power so he could no longer threaten Saudi Arabia, we removed our troops from Saudi Arabia. That's another reason (in addition to the reasons that Jeremy lists in #151) for bin Laden to be pleased that we invaded Iraq.

I'm in Louisiana. Try blown off the map. Viva "Better late than Never" FEMA. :>)

Really, we were having a bulletinboard discussion about Rove's remarks and I noticed a discrepancy between the Akron paper's version and the version in the Canton Repository story.
http://www.cantonrep.com/index.php?ID=349289&r=0&Category=9&subCategoryID=0

Being a registered Democrat since 1976, I wanted the TRUTH!

So, I e-mailed both reporters and asked them to clear it up.

I got an immediate response from Jim Carney at the Akron paper, saying he'd misread his notes and added "in Iraq" to the question asked of Rove.

So, ThinkProgress, the statement...

"In a question-and-answer period after his speech, Rove was asked whose idea it was to start a pre-emptive war in Iraq.

“I think it was Osama bin Laden’s,” Rove replied.

...is a misquote.

I must say, Rove was pretty quick on his feet and answered only the question that was asked. We'll see if he's that good if he ever testifies under oath.

"Whose idea was it to start a pre-emptive war?"

That was the actual question.

"Whose idea was it to start a pre-emptive war in Iraq?"

Is a misquote which will be corrected in tomorrow's Akron Beacon Journal. I've exchanged e-mails with the reporter, Jim Carney.

They've already corrected the online version:

Rove answered the actual question as it was stated.

This comment by Rove is his official declaration that Americans are all idiots. This regime wants to be the head of a world government. They can't have all this "freedom" in the US, if it doesn't exist everywhere, hence, your freedoms are mostly gone, or didn't you notice that the Bill of Rights, over 200 years old, has been gutted? If you are declared an "enemy combatant" ( a nice, handy, catchall term) you get no phone call, no lawyer, no trial. Hello, anybody home? This is barely America anymore. Martial law is next, don't let them take your firearms.
Good Luck to us all, and the Devil take the hindmost.

Osama Bin Laden is NOT, I repeat NOT wanted in connection with WMD's in iraq, 911, or any connection to war in iraq. This according to the FBI on their website of most wanted "terrorists".

please mr. rove, do your homework before you speak, you are embarrasing us!

Cathlofascist, JP, couldn't have said it better.

Well, he sorta could've. FDR did.

"The only thing we have to fear is fear itself."

Truer words describing today's state of affairs will be hard to find.
