“House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) told colleagues yesterday that she was incredulous after President Bush pulled her aside at the end of a meeting Wednesday and told her he did not criticize her recent trip to Syria. After all, Bush and other senior administration officials and top Republicans had slammed the speaker publicly for meeting in Damascus with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. But in a private meeting with Democratic lawmakers yesterday, Pelosi said Bush told her in an unsolicited comment that it was actually the State Department that criticized her.”

Bush has been progressively losing his mind.
April 20th, 2007 at 8:31 amBush can’t lose what he never had (a mind). Bush is a traitor, and to the extent they refuse to prosecute him, Congress is too.
April 20th, 2007 at 8:39 amThe buck stops everywhere but with him.
April 20th, 2007 at 8:40 amI have but one question for the president:
What color is the sky in your world?
- Tom
April 20th, 2007 at 8:40 amGDumbya conveniently ignores the fact that the real president, Darth Cheney, was Pelosi’s chief critic.
I think this is one of those numerous cases where GDumbya has to do “damage control” because his smear didn’t gain any traction with the public.
Next up –> GDumbya will apologize for claiming that the Democrats were endangering the troops because of delaying his funding request . . . I am sure that was the GAO’s fault (sarcasm)
April 20th, 2007 at 8:41 amBush has been progressively losing his mind.
Comment by Sally — April 20, 2007 @ 8:31 am
I agree with this comment made by Sally. And I have thought this for some time. This type of random comment and behavior is typical of the grandiose and plain Jane personality of a reformed alcoholic!!
April 20th, 2007 at 8:43 amCredibility problem at the whitehouse. blame someone else.
April 20th, 2007 at 8:43 amBusho never admits saying or doing anything wrong.
April 20th, 2007 at 8:44 amIt’s always someone else’s fault.
IMPEACH
The President’s mental health is regressing nicely, as expected.
April 20th, 2007 at 8:55 amThis country is being run like Enron just before the crash - incompetence, corruption, and irresponsible decision making. Who the f&*k is in charge here?
April 20th, 2007 at 8:56 amDoes he really expect anyone to believe this new pile of garbage? He is still looking for any mistake that he has ever made.
April 20th, 2007 at 8:58 amUnfortunately, the real problem is that whether Bush meant it or not, whether it was truthful or not, the damage has already been done, and very few news outlets will report this story. And if they do, it will be buried in the middle of the newspaper or a thirty second blurb on TV. Compared to the coverage the criticism of this trip was receiving, that’s inexcusable and irresponsible reporting.
Well, at least I have thinkprogress to keep me on top of things…
April 20th, 2007 at 8:59 amFor six plus years he has been incompetent, inept, and disconnected. He is still all those things today, and yesterday, he is quoted as saying history will be kind to him. I think questions of his mental state are valid at this point.
April 20th, 2007 at 9:03 amMrs. Pelosi would you do me a favor? Please pull Pres. Bush aside and tell him I called him an a-hole.
April 20th, 2007 at 9:04 amSince when did Cheney become a part of the State Department?
April 20th, 2007 at 9:15 amLocation: Hell
Time: in the future
Saddam: I can’t believe what you did to me after all I did for you
Bush: You know, Saddam, it really wasn’t my idea… it was Cheney’s

That is about the 100th time he has mentioned how history will be kind to him or how is legacy will be viewed. The guy is more worried what people in the year 2150 are going to think of him than his current constituents.
April 20th, 2007 at 9:35 amThe State Dept has been taking a lot of hits from Bush and Cheney lately. I wonder if Condi will turn on them soon. She may be stupid, but she’s not that stupid.
April 20th, 2007 at 9:44 amWTF
April 20th, 2007 at 9:45 amGood Lord, how can anyone view this man as anything but mad? He denies a reality in which he was an active participant!
May these RNC emails be a 2007 version of a ham-handed burglary at the Watergate hotel…
April 20th, 2007 at 9:47 amHe has been slurring his words more often.
I guess history could be kind to him if all drugs are legalized and all the historians are junkies.
Never trust a junkie.
April 20th, 2007 at 9:48 amI read Elliot Abrams and Dick Cheney were behind the smearing of Pelosi’s trip to Syria.
April 20th, 2007 at 9:49 amWhat a weasel. He let’s the slurs fly and then claims he had no control over it. Very telling.
April 20th, 2007 at 9:52 amExactly who is running the damned show? This is just ridiculous. Thanks, Republicans, for putting this worthless “legacy” in charge of the country. You have no one but yourselves to blame.
April 20th, 2007 at 9:59 amThat is about the 100th time he has mentioned how history will be kind to him or how is legacy will be viewed. The guy is more worried what people in the year 2150 are going to think of him than his current constituents.

As someone who has taught history for over twenty years, I’m constantly amazed at this administration’s complete and utter lack of historical consciousness. What Bush fails to acknowledge is the reason historians continue to reevaluate past presidents like Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, Teddy and Franklin Roosevelt, Harry Truman - there’s something there to reevaluate.
April 20th, 2007 at 10:00 amre # 22
1-where did you read that? just curious.
April 20th, 2007 at 10:08 am2-so what? bush is supposed to be the boss. is it ok that he has no control over what his vip or his state department does?
I thought his recap of the Pelosi / Reid meeting Wed. afternoon displayed signs of Prozac or Zoloft usage.
He acted somewhat sedated, didn’t have that usual cheerleader spunk & attitude and was even more disconnected than usual.
Anyone else notice the same?
I’m not saying this is a bad thing, mind you. I think he should be kept totally sedated for the next 20 months…
April 20th, 2007 at 10:10 amAnd he has actually compared himself to Harry Truman, if you can believe it.
April 20th, 2007 at 10:14 amObvious differences aside, George W. Bush will NEVER be able to go ANYWHERE in this country without being SURROUNDED by Secret Service.
I grew up in Independence Missouri, and have many memories of President and Mrs. Truman sitting in plain, unobstructed view on the front porch of their home most evenings with no evidence of a Secret Service agent around.
I doubt George Bush will enjoy the same.
#16…. (continuing the conversation)
Saddam: “Well, at least one of us got some use out of that pistol”
April 20th, 2007 at 10:16 amMadame Speaker, the President looked you in the eye and talked to you like you were an idiot. In short, he dissed you. Could you now put impeachment back on the table?
April 20th, 2007 at 10:22 am.
WHAT State Department?
.
April 20th, 2007 at 10:24 amI doubt George Bush will enjoy the same.
Comment by loretta — April 20, 2007 @ 10:14 am
That is an awesome memory.
When Bush flees the country will he still get Secret Service protection?
April 20th, 2007 at 10:28 amAnd he has actually compared himself to Harry Truman, if you can believe it.
Comment by loretta — April 20, 2007 @ 10:14 am
Bush has also compared himself to Woodrow Wilson and Winston Churchill, though I doubt he could name even one of the former’s Fourteen Points (or even what those are) or that he’s even bothered to read anything by or about the latter.
The fact is that when it comes to any sort of substantive foreign or domestic policy, as far as this administration is concerned, there’s just no there there.
April 20th, 2007 at 10:29 amThree possibilities: one, this is a problem of the President’s inability to tell the truth. Two, it’s a problem of the President’s reluctance to take responsibility for anything he’s done that might have consequences. Three, Pelosi is lying, and the President never said that.
Given what is known about the last six years, I think (three) is the least likely by a long shot.
I’m going with (two).
April 20th, 2007 at 10:29 amThe same State Department whose Secretary’s diplomacy was promptly overriden by a call from the Vice President.
April 20th, 2007 at 10:30 am.
Sign on Harry’s desk: The Buck Stops Here.
Sign on Duhhbya’s desk: Buck? What Buck? I ain’t seen no Buck. You Seen a Buck? Hey Karl, we got a Buck?
.
April 20th, 2007 at 10:35 amBush is dingbat crazy, evidence of all those drugs he ingested, drugs that scrambled and fried his brains like eggs!
See this:http://www.iht.com/articles/2007/04/03/news/pelosi.php
In which, you’ll find this:
President George W. Bush criticized Pelosi’s visit on Tuesday during a wide-ranging news conference at the White House. He said the visit sent “mixed signals” that “lead the Assad government to believe they are part of the mainstream of the international community, when in fact they are a state sponsor of terror.”
The title of the news article is: “Bush Assails Pelosi’s Trip to Syria”!
Where are guys in white jackets with the butterfly nets when you really need them?
April 20th, 2007 at 10:57 ambob, not the hacker, but the retard
April 20th, 2007 at 11:07 amIf Pelosi didn’t call him a “fcukin little pussy” then we’re in for much more of the same.
And yes, Bush is a “fcukin little pussy”.
April 20th, 2007 at 11:11 amIt’s ok Mr. Bush. We aren’t listening to you and your Republic friends any longer. I’m quite sure that the American public gets it about Pelosi. They know that she did nothing wrong and by constantly criticizing her for doing something that there Republic brethren did just makes them out to be a bunch of whiny kids. If I was a Republic running for office in 2008 I would be very worried. It’s going to be a well deserved bloodbath for the Republics.
April 20th, 2007 at 11:15 amWhen Bush flees the country will he still get Secret Service protection?
Comment by Shane — April 20, 2007 @ 10:28 am
That’s a good question. I’m thinking that they’ll keep a permanent residency here for appearances and, if so, it may be that they’ll be technically entitled to secret service protection in Paraguay?
Of course, with all of their moolah, there’s always Blackwater…
April 20th, 2007 at 11:32 amDubya never stopped drinking and doing drugs…that is the only explanation for his attitude and actions.
April 20th, 2007 at 11:38 amSeems that Bush II is following the dictum of Joseph Goebells(the Nazi War Propaganda Minister)which is “if a person lies over and over again, it will eventually become the truth.”
April 20th, 2007 at 12:51 pmBush’s insanity is beginning to escalate. I hope there is someone in the White House keeping an eye on boy Bush’s trigger finger… we don’t want any unexpected mushroom clouds.
April 20th, 2007 at 3:13 pmThis proves that Bush doesn’t know what the rest of his “team” are saying. Cheney very publicly denounced Pelosi’s trip to Syria in his appearance on Rush Limbaugh’s show! I’m thinking the occupant of the White House is needing medication….he’s losing it!
