Bush tells Pelosi Syria attacks were State Dept.’s fault.

“House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) told colleagues yesterday that she was incredulous after President Bush pulled her aside at the end of a meeting Wednesday and told her he did not criticize her recent trip to Syria. After all, Bush and other senior administration officials and top Republicans had slammed the speaker publicly for meeting in Damascus with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. But in a private meeting with Democratic lawmakers yesterday, Pelosi said Bush told her in an unsolicited comment that it was actually the State Department that criticized her.”

Bush can’t lose what he never had (a mind). Bush is a traitor, and to the extent they refuse to prosecute him, Congress is too.

GDumbya conveniently ignores the fact that the real president, Darth Cheney, was Pelosi’s chief critic.

I think this is one of those numerous cases where GDumbya has to do “damage control” because his smear didn’t gain any traction with the public.

Next up –> GDumbya will apologize for claiming that the Democrats were endangering the troops because of delaying his funding request . . . I am sure that was the GAO’s fault (sarcasm)

I agree with this comment made by Sally. And I have thought this for some time. This type of random comment and behavior is typical of the grandiose and plain Jane personality of a reformed alcoholic!!

This country is being run like Enron just before the crash – incompetence, corruption, and irresponsible decision making. Who the f&*k is in charge here?

  11. BearCountry says:

Does he really expect anyone to believe this new pile of garbage? He is still looking for any mistake that he has ever made.

  12. Mike says:

Unfortunately, the real problem is that whether Bush meant it or not, whether it was truthful or not, the damage has already been done, and very few news outlets will report this story. And if they do, it will be buried in the middle of the newspaper or a thirty second blurb on TV. Compared to the coverage the criticism of this trip was receiving, that’s inexcusable and irresponsible reporting.

Well, at least I have thinkprogress to keep me on top of things…

  13. enaud says:

For six plus years he has been incompetent, inept, and disconnected. He is still all those things today, and yesterday, he is quoted as saying history will be kind to him. I think questions of his mental state are valid at this point.

Mrs. Pelosi would you do me a favor? Please pull Pres. Bush aside and tell him I called him an a-hole.

That is about the 100th time he has mentioned how history will be kind to him or how is legacy will be viewed. The guy is more worried what people in the year 2150 are going to think of him than his current constituents.

As someone who has taught history for over twenty years, I’m constantly amazed at this administration’s complete and utter lack of historical consciousness. What Bush fails to acknowledge is the reason historians continue to reevaluate past presidents like Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, Teddy and Franklin Roosevelt, Harry Truman – there’s something there to reevaluate.

  26. bob (not the hacker) says:

    re # 22

1-where did you read that? just curious.
2-so what? bush is supposed to be the boss. is it ok that he has no control over what his vip or his state department does?

  27. Zimzone says:

I thought his recap of the Pelosi / Reid meeting Wed. afternoon displayed signs of Prozac or Zoloft usage.

He acted somewhat sedated, didn’t have that usual cheerleader spunk & attitude and was even more disconnected than usual.

    Anyone else notice the same?

I’m not saying this is a bad thing, mind you. I think he should be kept totally sedated for the next 20 months…

  28. loretta says:

And he has actually compared himself to Harry Truman, if you can believe it.
Obvious differences aside, George W. Bush will NEVER be able to go ANYWHERE in this country without being SURROUNDED by Secret Service.
I grew up in Independence Missouri, and have many memories of President and Mrs. Truman sitting in plain, unobstructed view on the front porch of their home most evenings with no evidence of a Secret Service agent around.
I doubt George Bush will enjoy the same.

  30. Shane says:

    That is an awesome memory.

When Bush flees the country will he still get Secret Service protection?

  33. bob's your uncle says:

And he has actually compared himself to Harry Truman, if you can believe it.

    Comment by loretta — April 20, 2007 @ 10:14 am

Bush has also compared himself to Woodrow Wilson and Winston Churchill, though I doubt he could name even one of the former’s Fourteen Points (or even what those are) or that he’s even bothered to read anything by or about the latter.

The fact is that when it comes to any sort of substantive foreign or domestic policy, as far as this administration is concerned, there’s just no there there.

  34. KRank says:

Three possibilities: one, this is a problem of the President’s inability to tell the truth. Two, it’s a problem of the President’s reluctance to take responsibility for anything he’s done that might have consequences. Three, Pelosi is lying, and the President never said that.

Given what is known about the last six years, I think (three) is the least likely by a long shot.

    I’m going with (two).

  35. Raven says:

The same State Department whose Secretary’s diplomacy was promptly overriden by a call from the Vice President.

Bush is dingbat crazy, evidence of all those drugs he ingested, drugs that scrambled and fried his brains like eggs!

    See this:http://www.iht.com/articles/2007/04/03/news/pelosi.php

    In which, you’ll find this:
President George W. Bush criticized Pelosi’s visit on Tuesday during a wide-ranging news conference at the White House. He said the visit sent “mixed signals” that “lead the Assad government to believe they are part of the mainstream of the international community, when in fact they are a state sponsor of terror.”

The title of the news article is: “Bush Assails Pelosi’s Trip to Syria”!

Where are guys in white jackets with the butterfly nets when you really need them?

  39. Fed the Fcuk Up! says:

If Pelosi didn’t call him a “fcukin little pussy” then we’re in for much more of the same.

And yes, Bush is a “fcukin little pussy”.

  40. Kate Henry says:

It’s ok Mr. Bush. We aren’t listening to you and your Republic friends any longer. I’m quite sure that the American public gets it about Pelosi. They know that she did nothing wrong and by constantly criticizing her for doing something that there Republic brethren did just makes them out to be a bunch of whiny kids. If I was a Republic running for office in 2008 I would be very worried. It’s going to be a well deserved bloodbath for the Republics.

    Comment by Shane — April 20, 2007 @ 10:28 am

That’s a good question. I’m thinking that they’ll keep a permanent residency here for appearances and, if so, it may be that they’ll be technically entitled to secret service protection in Paraguay?

Of course, with all of their moolah, there’s always Blackwater…

  42. kasinca says:

Dubya never stopped drinking and doing drugs…that is the only explanation for his attitude and actions.

  43. lem o lime says:

Seems that Bush II is following the dictum of Joseph Goebells(the Nazi War Propaganda Minister)which is “if a person lies over and over again, it will eventually become the truth.”

  44. Coffins Draped with Flags says:

Bush’s insanity is beginning to escalate. I hope there is someone in the White House keeping an eye on boy Bush’s trigger finger… we don’t want any unexpected mushroom clouds.

  45. CalGal says:

This proves that Bush doesn’t know what the rest of his “team” are saying. Cheney very publicly denounced Pelosi’s trip to Syria in his appearance on Rush Limbaugh’s show! I’m thinking the occupant of the White House is needing medication….he’s losing it!
