Richardson calls for Gonzales to resign.

New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardon told the Bill Press show this morning, “I believe he should resign…I just feel that the Justice Department should be above politics, they shouldn’t be just a political arm in the White House.” Listen to it here.

UPDATE: Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA): “Gonzales must resign.

There are a lot more than gonzo that need to resign…. looks like vermont is on the way!

  2. Chris L says:

This is the first time in a long time that I have seen so many democrats and republicans agreeing on the same issue. Heavens, when even Senator Coburn (extreme right) calls for resignation, you know this is not just a partisan issue. How much of our government has to say the same thing before action is taken?

  3. Raven says:

    Thanks, Governor Bill!

  4. kelso says:

I think Bush keeps supporting Gonzales out of spite. Since nearly the entire country has turned on the Pres. this is his way of telling everyone “f-you”.

This is nothing new, but Bush still acts like he’s 12 year old (reads and speaks like an 8 year old).

    You’re toast, Alberto.
Now get out of the kitchen; you obviously can’t take the heat!

Off topic, has anyone else noticed how little credit / press Gov. Richardson is getting for his work with N. Korea?

You’d think Bush sending a Dem over instead of Fried Rice would be news, eh?

I guess it would only be news if he had screwed it up.

    Like Rice would have.

WE don’t have a govenment anymore. WE can take it back however. write and call your congressmen and women and tell them to impeach bush and cheney. If you have republican reps, insist they start representing the people not their party.

    re# 5

Don’t worry, as soon as N Korea does anything untoward you can bet richardson’s name will be brought up…

  8. TerrytheTurtle says:

From what I have seen and read about Richardson – he should be a major player in any future administratuon. Preferably as soon as possible.

  9. Karim says:

Governor Richardson is making my decision for my vote much tougher.

  12. Bill Richardson rocks! says:

In the Hill, Richardson said he wasn’t ready to call for Gonzo to resign because he’s Hispanic. It’s good to see that he’s willing to put, you know, those other factors ahead of racial solidarity.

  13. Mary Poplins says:

Impeachment needs to be put back on the table. We will be able to bring our troops home. Bush is not the decider the American people are the deciders. He works for us. We need to protest this Illegal war as we did in the 60’s and 70’s. Some college students in Madison WI protested yesterday against this war. More power to them.

I like both Bill Richardson or John Edwards for President. I would vote for either one.

  14. Coffins Draped with Flags says:

Governor Bill Richardson for President in 2008. He is the candidate with the most experience. He needs our help in getting name recognition. It’s time to place the bumper stickers on our vehicles encouraging people to vote for Gov. Bill Richardson.

  15. Coffins Draped with Flags says:

Howard Dean would have gotten the nomination the last election if the DNC hadn’t put a spanner in his campaign. I view the Richardson campaign to be akin to Howard Dean’s campaign. We can get him the nomination if we work together. For more details, check out his website.

  16. Zooey says:

No! Don’t resign, Gonzo! Not yet. Hold on a little longer, baby.

    Heh.

  17. brie says:

ThinkProgess, I think you guys should start referring to Richardson as as presidential candidate instead of just governor. If Obama was making statements about it that’s how you’d refer to him. To not acknowledge him as a probable candidate makes it seems like you guys have chosen sides in the Democratic nomination about who the ‘real’ candidates are.
