Rush is doing the country a grave injustice with his free speech. Either he doesn’t understand what it is doing to the justice dept and the nation or he doesn’t care as long as his party is seen as winning a game.

Many Republicans are looking at this and seeing their chances for re-election dwindling. This scandal enforces the notion that the Republican Party is corrupt and morally bankrupt in the eyes of the electorate. If Gonzales steps down then the investigation goes away…. Issue resolved from the Republican perspective. The problem is Bush has made it clear that Gonzales will stay. So the pundits are trying to rally the troops and use the disinformation machine to bring back some support, and at the same time bring pressure to the Republican Party to stay the course. The Republicans are distancing themselves from the Neo-Conservatives at a record pace. What you are seeing is the Right imploding.

Now we look at one of the 8 attorneys fired, Carol Lam. She was investigating Jerry Lewis R-San Diego for his involvement with Duke Cunningham and his political action committee, Future Leaders PAC, and the investment group, Cerberus Capital Management. This investigation abruptly shelved after the firing of Carol Lam.

This is just one of three potential legal issues facing the Whitehouse and the AG. What did Alberto know and when did he know it? Lets look at the email…. hmmm. No email. Because it had been deleted. While any one of these facts don’t appear to illegal, all are potentially illegal. The Whitehouse should be scared? In effect, what this does is paint the Republicans as corrupt, liars, and cheats. The Duke Cunningham scandal was dying down before this emerged, and it’s only going to get worse. Republicans are running from this administration faster then Foley to a kid’s birthday party.
