“Romanian Prime Minister Calin Tariceanu said on Monday he was likely to propose the withdrawal of Romanian troops from Iraq at the next meeting of the country’s defense council. … ‘It will be just about announcing a political decision that will eventually materialize in a withdrawal calendar agreed with our partners and allies.’”
Doesn’t Romania want to keep having fun?
After all. everything is going so well.
April 23rd, 2007 at 7:45 pmDoes this mean the surge is working?
April 23rd, 2007 at 7:48 pmUh oh….Romania’s not with us anymore…apparently, they’re ‘against us’.

Democracy is on the run.
April 23rd, 2007 at 8:14 pmExpect the new British PM Brown to announce the withdrawal of all British troops in June. And the new Aussie PM Rudd to announce the withdrawal of Australia’s troops in November. This is speculation, of course, but the WH knows this is coming.
April 23rd, 2007 at 8:18 pmThe Bush fatigue really comes down to the fact there there is an administration in place that does not reflect the desires of the people. We are spending more and more on war in order to bring peace to the world, but the efforts have been futile. According to the Borgen Project, we have spent over $340 billion on the Iraq war already yet there is still no end in sight, not even hope.
With that amount spent on the war, we can contribute to the $19billion annually needed to end hunger or to support the Millennium Development Goals to end global poverty — programs that can actually bring about change. Bush fatigue is simply the draining of our resources and tax payer money on initiatives that do not seem at all logical when the goal is peace and an end to terror.
April 23rd, 2007 at 8:35 pmTerrorists will surely be following the Romanians home.
April 23rd, 2007 at 8:47 pmGood thing they have vampires to ptotect them.
Myth fighting myth.
It will be just about announcing a political decision that will eventually materialize in a withdrawal calendar agreed with our partners and allies.
Oh no!
A scheduled withdrawal!? Doesn’t that send the wrong message? Isn’t that a way to embolden the terrorists?
Why does Romania hate the troops? Why do they want to appease the terrorists?
Time to bomb Bucharest!!
/sarcasm off
April 23rd, 2007 at 8:59 pmTerrorists will surely be following the Romanians home.

April 23rd, 2007 at 9:12 pmthe coalition of the dwindling
April 23rd, 2007 at 11:01 pmNot the first time Tariceanu has said this, but I think this time it has more to do with the current constitutional crisis in Romania. They’re currently impeaching their president, Traian Basescu and Tariceanu wants to build his popularity any way he can before a referendum on the subject in May. The war is at about a 60% disapproval rate in Romania and this might be a ploy to gather that support and attach it to him.
April 23rd, 2007 at 11:26 pmIn response to #8 comment, I could not say it better myself. You are so right on in your comment!!
Imagine the state of the world right now if that $340 billion spent on Iraq and Afghanistan was spent on projects like ending world hunger, alternative energy to combat Global Warming, etc…What so many people don’t realize is the reason there are terrorists in this world is because so many people live in poverty and dire straits. They are left with very little to look forward to. I so wish the U.S. would change course and actually start doing some good in the world for a change.
April 24th, 2007 at 4:48 amOh wait…. what ?
Did you just remember the retaliation the US saw for merely stationing a few thousand troops in the Middle East after the first Gulf War ?
Did you factor in that a full invasion, hundreds of thousands of Arabs killed and installation of regime resulting in the persecution of a Sunni minority might rank somewhat above that in terms of whether militant Sunni groups target the US in future ?
Or will we file this as yet another entry in that bloated “Things Never To Be Contemplated When Discussing Withdrawal From Iraq” file. The default option.
April 24th, 2007 at 5:34 amThe reason why so many people don’t realise this is because it is completely contradicted by the evidence of any such thing occurring or motivating factor occurring.
April 24th, 2007 at 5:40 amIt is very hard for people to “realise” something that is clearly wrong.
What are we going to do without the Romanian troops?
April 24th, 2007 at 10:01 amBoth of those guys were really good!
