Republican corruption: the gift that keeps on giving.

Of course, a couple years ago, they were convinced that they were giving to themselves. It turns out they were giving long-term political power to the Democrats.

Is there anyone in the Republican party that is not corrupt?

….bop…bop…bop….another one bites the dust! Abramoff is singing his tune and is sure to indict plenty of others as he cuts a swath through the Republican Party and THIS white house. But then, Dubya couldn’t recall who Abramoff was…..isn’t that right?? This “can’t recall disease” is spreading like wildfire in this administration….cart them all off for a psychiatric examination pronto!

I posted this on the ThinkFast thread earlier this morning, but it is applicable here as well for those who missed it.

    From WashingtonPost:

Two other lawmakers face possible ethics investigations amid allegations that they pressured a U.S. attorney in New Mexico to indict Democrats before last year’s fall elections.

Rep. Gary G. Miller (R-Calif.), under investigation by the FBI for a series of land deals, is now facing Democratic ads alleging that he lied about a land sale that he declined to pay taxes on.

Rep. Jerry Lewis (R-Calif.) still faces FBI scrutiny of his work as chairman of the House Appropriations Committee, and this month, his campaign filings showed that he has racked up $892,951.69 in legal fees since July. And for the first time, Rep. Tim Murphy (R-Pa.) reported significant legal fees — $15,620.60 — in his campaign filing this month, as he tries to stave off accusations that he used taxpayer-funded congressional staff and resources to do political work.

“Everybody’s kind of a little bit numb,” said Rep. Jack Kingston (R-Ga.). “There’s this, ‘What else can happen now?’ feeling going around here.”

It is called oversight and accountability. How long did these retards think they could break the law before they got caught. They seriously thought they would be in power forever. Like Rove’s math.

The US Attorney for Alaska better start looking for work.

You can’t blame these Repubs for misbehavin’. With Gonzalez’ Justice Department giving them all the wink and nod, any corrupt or sordid dealing probably seemed to have the green light.

If one considers how Alaska’s Delegation in DC has enjoyed such power for so long, one need look no farther than the failure of the Statewide Media to report the uncomfortable truths.
Being an Alaskan, I can report that Representative Young has enjoyed a particularly easy media-ride with his many connections to Abramoff. Alaska Public Radio has distinguished themselves for their timidity, lack of curiosity, and lap-dog relationship with our sole representative in Congress, dispelling the myth that Public Radio is “liberal”. Their record as journalists working on behalf of the citizenry is shockingly pockmarked with disinterest in anything too “controversial”.

This subject is rich with irony: Former Senator Frank Murkowski authored a bill decrying the sweatshops of the Commonwealth of Northern Marianas Islands. Rep Don Young personally lobbied on behalf of Abramoff in support of the same sweatshops. Any interest in statewide media to investigate? Nary a woof from the media puppies!

  21. Shawn D Says:

Wait until the DOJ public integrity group throws down on Ted Stevens and Don Young.

Remember Ted in a 2003 Appropriations rider racketeered and gave his son (Ben Stevens) a fishery (pollock) allocation. The allocation went to ADAK (The Aleut Corp -TAC). Ben even voted to bring the fishery allocation to his own company (Adak Seafoods-AS)., while sitting on the Aleut Enterprise Corp board a subsidiary of TAC. Plus Ben had a secret deal to own 25% of the fishery processing company AS. Check out Richard Mauer’s story in the ADN on Sept. 18, 2005, or just google “Ben Stevens” adak. You’ll see how Ted gave his son more than the family fish business with his racketeering powers as chair of the senate appropriation committee.

If Congress doesn’t have the knowledge of this, then they should.

How about Ted passing legislation for no-bid contracts for native corps in AK, does anyone consider that wrong?

Ted and Don gave 200 million in loan guarantees to CDQ groups (in the 2006 Coast Guard Bill) in Western AK to buy fisheries companys, allocations, &equipment. Now these CDQ groups pay not taxes and can buy up fisheries (they’ve already bought properties for twice their value).

What about the rest of Alaska’s coast villages? How can Ted and Don discriminate against other coastal villages that need aid? Free pass to break the constitution I guess?

What about Don and his I-74 and 4 -trailer debackles, taking money for legislation, indirectly of course (more campaign funds).

Bottomline: Ted, Ben and Don need to go to jail!
