McNulty to testify be interviewed Friday.

The Crypt reports:

Deputy Attorney General Paul McNulty will testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee this Friday, a week after his boss, Attorney General Alberto Gonzales was grilled by the panel.

McNulty will be questioned about what he knew and when he knew it regarding the firing of eight U.S. attorneys last year, Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) just told reporters.

UPDATE: The Politico updates its story: “McNulty will be interviewed behind closed doors by the Senate Judiciary Committee this Friday… William Moschella, the principal deputy attorney general, is set to be interviewed on Tuesday, according to House and Senate Democratic aides.”

with immunity? or is he going to take the 5th?

  7. Spudge_Boy says:

Is a week enough time for McNulty to watch the Gonzo hearings and get his story right in line? We might want to give him two weeks to practice “I don’t recall.” You know there is a reason that the police immediately separate the two parties involved in any incident and get two different stories, then compare.

We are giving these lying liars way too much time to prepare for these things.

And it still doesn’t matter if they did it for political reasons jake. That is not what is at issue here. If republican and democratic presidents didn’t replace all of their USAs for political reasons, then there is something wrong with them.

Firing them when they are investigating your friends is what is at issue.

Now before you say it jake, post some proof, or don’t bother.

    Spudge-boy, allow me:

Jake, this talking point has been worn threadbare by you and it is no closer to reality now than when it was first debunked weeks ago. Dead end trash.

  28. Tom3 says:

Clinton got rid of all the US Attorneys at the beginning of his first term.

    Quite legal and precedented.

Chimpy and Gonzo fired 8 US Attorneys because they were going after Repukes, refusing to trump up cases against Dems, and generally not being “good Bushies”.

    That’s illegal.

    Time to IMPEACH GONE-ZALES.

Allfried, you are a effing liar.

  30. Alfred says:

  31. Tom3 says:

The Repukes are intentionally disenfranchising millions of Americans, and one of the ways they do this is with bogus vote fraud charges.

Funny how Gonzales wants to prosecute Dems for this, but hasn’t gone after Mann Coulter for her voter fraud in Florida.

Of course she’s a good Bushie. Wouldn’t want to bother her.

  32. KRank says:

    Comment by kasinca — April 23, 2007 @ 6:36 pm

kasinca, they don’t even have “Clinton did it”. They try — oh, boy, do they try. But their pathetic talking points are getting thinner and thinner by the week.

It’s kind of like in the grocery store, the cereal boxes are the same size they always were, but if you check the label, you discover that they contain less cereal than they used to. That’s what Republican talking points are doing.

No wonder they get frustrated and resort to distracting the threads, changing screen names and generally “gumming to death” whatever they can.

It’s really all they’ve got. They don’t even have “two wrongs make a right” because the only wrongs we’ve really got are Republican wrongs. But we’ve got plenty of them to go around.

  33. Alfred says:

    Tom3:

What if Clinton fired 8 US Attorneys because they were going after Dems, refusing to trump up cases against Repukes, and generally not being “good Klintonites”?

  34. Tom3 says:

Once they politicize the Department of Justice it is all over.

They’ve already done it to the courts.

We will live under the rule of men, not laws.

    That’s not democracy, that’s dictatorship.

What if you stopped making the same stupid bullshit arguments. What if you explained why you support that traitor Bush and his cronies in the White House.

  38. Tom3 says:

Jeez, these trolls keep bringing up Clinton.

The US Attorney firings are illegal because it is in the US Code.

Doesn’t matter who is President or AG. The law is the law.

Bringing up Clinton is what the trolls do when they’re on the ropes.

Keep up the pressure until they go back under their bridge.

  39. Alfred says:

    TripMaster Monkey:

I already gave you a status report on that search.

    Shane:

I believe that is the first time I’ve ever asked Tom3 this question. I also don’t think Bush is a traitor, so I reject your reality and substitute my own.

  40. Tom3 says:

While it is true that the US Attorneys serve at the pleasure of the President (and boy, does that sound gay), it is also true that Federal law prohibits US Attorneys from being fired if they are in the middle of an investigation or if they are getting members of your party put in prison.

Of course trolls are too inbred to understand this kind of stuff. Knuckle-dragging Neanderthal 30%ers. Repukes.

  44. Wilco says:

“Bringing up Clinton is what the trolls do when they’re on the ropes”

I don’t think they’ve ever limited themselves like that. They bring up Clinton whenever they can. Remember when Henry Hyde admitted the impeachment was payback for Nixon? And they go on about Dems hatred for Bush

  45. KRank says:

    Comment by Alfred — April 23, 2007 @ 6:57 pm

We already know that. But it’s nice to see a little honesty from you, Jake.

  46. veritas says:

The “I don’t recall” lie IS perjury and should be challenged as such. If they have senile dementia and/or are mentally handicapped, that’s one thing; if they are collecting a paycheck for doing a job, then it’s their duty to remember what they did yesterday, an hour ago, or 3 months ago. Otherwise, heave them all out of there pronto!

I’d like for some savvy litigator or team of litigators to prove that they DO remember based on conversations and emails to refresh their sagging, lying memories to prosecute them for “tacit perjury”.

  47. Keith H. says:

    No offence but . . . BFD !!

Alfred Garbonzo could have admitted under oath to the firings for political reasons, he could have admitted under oath that he also was guilty of obstruction of justice . . . . and HE WOULD STILL HAVE HIS JOB !

ALL of this garbage that everyone thinks is active and somewhat functioning goverment is nothing but a show, a smoke-screen.

  48. veritas says:

Where are our village idiot trolls? I’ve been out of the loop for a few days and it’s such a lovely reprieve….ahhhhhh!

  49. veritas says:

But then I see a perplexing post by a “fake jake” – isn’t that redundant??

  50. veritas says:

And I would also concur wholeheartedly by the sentence structure that, indeed, “Alfred” is “Fake Jake”.

  51. veritas says:

#48 You’re right on! This democracy has become fascism overnight and the Big Pharma, Big Oil, and Big Insurance are running the white house. Campaign finance reform is THE only salvation we have for taking control back of this country; otherwise, it’s already lost. As long as the candidates PROSTITUTE themselves via lobbyists to the corporations, we will continue down the fascist road until the last remnants of this dying democracy fade into the sunset.

  52. SKdeA says:

If it wasn’t so obviously damaging to brain cells, I would say let’s all have some of what Alfred/Jake is smoking… his reality seems to be all rainbows and ponies…

  53. KRank says:

WHY do you think Bush and Cheney REFUSED TO TESTIFY UNDER OATH to the 9/11 Commission??

i.e. WHY did they REFUSE TO SWEAR TO GOD TO TELL THE TRUTH TO the USA about 9/11, and their friends, the Bin Ladens and Saudi TERRORIST FINANCIERS?

  63. Alfred says:

O.K., big papa, you are serious. I expect Bush to stay in office for his full two terms.

P.S. Mr.BushGoesToHell — I suspect that there were separation of power concerns for a sitting President and Vice President to testify under oath like that, but I don’t know for sure. What’s your conspiracy theory?

  64. Spudge_Boy says:

No conspiracy theory. Just very TELLING that the

PRESIDENT AND VICE PRESIDENT wouldn’t be GLAD to TELL THE TRUTH, and UNDER OATH, and ON THE RECORD.

The fact that they REFUSED to do so shows their TRUE COLORS—

    TRAITORS TO THE USA…

In YOUR opinion, WHAT “separation of powers” would be NECESSARY for them to TELL THE USA AND THE WORLD ABOUT 9/11?

YOU asked for MY “conspiracy theory”, of which I have NONE.

What is YOUR right-wing NUTJOB explanation to your “separation of powers” statement.

  70. JPark says:

#70 In Bizarro right wing world separation of powers means Bush/Cheney get to do whatever the hell they want.

  71. Knappy Headed Ho says:

Alfred/Jake/Dan, you’ve named one prosecutor each from Clinton and Carter…neither one was investigating anything which led DIRECTLY back to the whitehouse…… so we have 8 prosecutors fired in an attempt to obstruct justice, including an investigation which could lead right back to bumbya, and you’re comparing that to 2 total prosectuors fired by the last 2 dems presidents.. looks like bush is trying to outdo thier numbers there..and honestly, if what Clinton did was such a terrible example of firing a prosecutor for political reasons.

all you can repeat is “Clinton/Carter did X once therefore its ok if bush did X ten times, about matters of much more import”. its like saying someone who stabbed 10 peopel to death is the moral equivalent of someone who stabbed one person in the arm once and didnt hurt them seriously..

and can you danjakefred, please explain to me why these guys are fighting tooth and nail to avoid explaining why they fired these guys, if they did nothing wrong..??

  72. Kate Henry says:

Why “behind closed doors”? Why not in public under oath? Why are the Democrats allowing this to happen. They have subpoena power and yet they haven’t used it once. They have threatened to use it but I don’t think they have subpoenaed one person. Get a backbone Democrats. Subpoena now. And if they refuse to testify, throw their asses in jail like Ken Starr threw Sharon McDugal in jail. What’s good for the goose is good for the gander. The difference is that the Republics had the guts and it doesn’t look like the Democrats do.

  73. Karim says:
