Army ranger ordered to conceal cause of Tillman’s death.

“An Army Ranger who was with Pat Tillman when he died by friendly fire said Tuesday he was told by a higher-up to conceal that information from Tillman’s family. ‘I was ordered not to tell them,’ U.S. Army Specialist Bryan O’Neal told the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.”

what the hell has happened to my country…? this is beyond belief…

And, yes, I DO take it personally

  2. Spudge_Boy says:

That would be what is called an illegal order, which did not have to be followed.

Yeah Spudge Boy, I’m sure that guy wasn’t worried about retribution. If they’re will to cover up one fratricide of a HIGH PROFILE PERSONALITY…what’s one more?

  6. armavirumque says:

So. . . ordered by who?

and who told that person. . . ?

and so on up the chain.

This should be an easy inquiry, right?

Because, according to the UCMJ, a soldier does not have to follow an oder he feels may be unlawful or immoral. Concealing the cause of death of a soldier to his family falls under the latter category.

  8. Wayne says:

    Why illegal?

    Comment by Frank Matthews

If you have to ask that, you know nothing at all about the military. He was ordered to LIE, and that was an illegal order. As was the order to burn evidence, such as Pat’s uniform and his diary.

Hey, I thought I was leaving?!

  10. Royston Vasey says:

Kevin Tillman said his family has sought for years to get at the truth, and have now concluded that they were “being actively thwarted by powers that are more interested in protecting a narrative than getting at the truth and seeing justice is served.

The fact that you don’t know why just shows that you are another pu$$y republican that hasn’t served. You fu*king wu$$.

    Here is a better question:

Why do you believe it was in the best interest of our country that the cause of death be covered up, and his family lied to?

  14. Crump's Brother says:

    What?!?!?!!?

The administration lied? What a scoop!!

  15. Crump's Brother says:

Well, Chris L, to be fair I think it was appropriate for FDR to “lie” about his disability during wartime, or many of the other justified “lies” told during World War II, so exigent circumstances may require that. This “lie” was not justified, in my opinion.

  16. Frank Matthews says:

    Hey Frank,
I’m Frank, and than other Frank is not me, Frank, either.
Help, how do I get out of here?
    FRANK??? THE OTHER FRANK????? FRANKS??????????????

    Ah, no Franks.

  17. Roger says:

Another black eye for the leadership at the Pentagon and the White House.

If O’Neal was told this, who told him? And, it follows, where did that order come from?

Is there any legal action to be taken? Is there any law governing what the military can or can’t say in regards to the death of a soldier? Is there any law on the books that would result in criminal charges from such an obvious deception?

If not, then we can expect everyone and anyone connected to this scandal to skate. There is simply is no accountability.

  18. billjpa says:

this presentation of the Tillman horror, if proven true, seals the deadl. The administration is guilty of war crimes! The military leadership is guilty both individually and as a group of comitting war crimes and I bet that the major media outlets will not touch this with a ten foot pole!

Yup, now if that “pole” was attached to a certain Democrat, that happened to get a little action, christ it would be on the news 24/7 * 365..

Frank doesn’t understand the difference between right and wrong. He’s like a little kid that keeps asking “Why?” You can’t explain it to him. He’s your typical right-wing sociopath.

I believe that is the case with every Bushco supporter. They simply do not understand the difference between right and wrong. It is just not in their ability to comprehend it. Sad.

This is an outrage. But what else is new?

  29. Liberty Lover says:

Well, I ceratinly hope that he has shared that information with them now…

  30. Jim says:

For goodness sake, don’t make such big deal of it. What the army was trying to do was make the families feel proud instead of frustrated and angry. That was an honorable effort, not a cover-up for pete’s sake! It was exactly the same thing for NASA’s effort to tell the world, and the families, the Apollo astronauts died “instantly” but the media wanted to smear the program and it eventually came out those men died horribly – but how was the world or those families better served by that knowledge. Leave it alone.
