RNC Releases Partial List Of White House Officials With Party Email Accounts»

three_blackberry_amigos_160×259shkl.jpgLawyers for the Republican National Committee sent a letter tonight to Rep. Henry Waxman (D-CA) with a list of 37 individuals “who we believe are or were White House employees using RNC accounts for whom we have been able to identify active e-mail data on operational RNC servers.”

The list — which includes senior officials like Karl Rove and Dan Bartlett as well as interns for the Office of Political Affairs — can be found below.

The White House has said that roughly 50 White House officials have had RNC accounts since 2001, and the letter suggests that more individuals with RNC accounts will be identified. “As the RNC is still in the early stages of its analysis, we expect that this list will require revisions at a later date.” Who are these unidentified individuals? And did they work in jobs that wouldn’t typically require a partisan email account?

The White House use of these accounts appears to be extremely extensive. The letter states that the RNC “has gathered approximately 25,500,000 kilobytes of e-mail data from the 37 individuals listed above.” Moreover, this figure “will almost certainly increase” once forensic experts complete the “collection of active e-mail files off of hard drives and blackberries.”

Digg It!

The partial list of White House officials with RNC accounts is below the fold:

Dan Bartlett, counselor to President Bush

Looks like the RNC is throwing King George the Dumb, et al, under the bus. The Henry Waxman Express is one hell of a bus.

  5. Uncle Ho Says:

I bet the list is much longer. Impale the bastards!

  6. Tom3 Says:

    Blackberries are over-ripe this year.

First the Repukes get caught using Blackberries to dodge Federal archive law.

    Then Blackberry crashes.

I use a Samsung i-600 Pocket PC at work. Phone, Camera, Internet, IRC Chat, Outlook Email (syncs with server at work), Word, Excel and Windows Media Player.

Blackberry sucks. Get a PC phone next time. They actually work.

  7. 12string Says:

    25 million kilobytes = 25 gigabytes = holy cow, that’s a lot of email!

Idiots like you being allowed to vote, drive, buy alcohol and firearms should be illegal.

    Hatch Act violators…

…These federal and D.C. employees may not-

use official authority or influence to interfere with an election
solicit or discourage political activity of anyone with business before their agency
solicit or receive political contributions (may be done in certain limited situations by federal labor or other employee organizations)
be candidates for public office in partisan elections
    engage in political activity while:
    on duty
    in a government office
    wearing an official uniform
    using a government vehicle

…I’ll bet the FARM (in crawford)…

    …Rove et al….

…violated several statutes of the Hatch Act REPEATEDLY…

  10. Tom3 Says:

BTW, when Karla Rove uses his Blackberry for White House business, he violates Federal law. Obstruction of Justice is a bitch.

Sorry, Karl. No Blackberry allowed at Club Fed.

    Blackberrys are for Dingleberrys

How about licensed to practice law, Can-O-Whoop-Ass?

Why not ask the people who received emails from these folks to forward them? That would show verify some of these accounts.

And email server admin looking up accounts is trivial. There should be no delay in identifying the the white house “officials”. They’re stalling.

  19. Wayne Says:

    Nothing illegal yet.

    Comment by Judy

Only if you consider violations of the Hatch Act and the Presidential Records Act not illegal.
Funny thing is for the Presidential Records Act, there is a 20 year sentence per violation.
Keep telling yourself there is nothing illegal about what they have done. =)

Libby didn’t think he would get convicted for perjury and obstruction either.

  20. Judy Says:

Have a good night, everyone. I’m sure someone will let me know when your side finds something ILLEGAL . . .

    WTF does that mean precisely?

So any accounts no longer in active use, or old emails stored on, archived to, or moved to inactive servers… what about those?

  25. Tom3 Says:

Don’t worry, Karla Rove won’t be missing Gannon when hes at Club Fed.

I agree, “active” data on “operational servers” sounds pretty sketchy.
Stand by for 18 minutes, 18 hours, 18 days, 18 gigabytes of missing data…

No Judy…. It’s idiots like you that are allowed to practice law that has put this country in the state it is! Wasn’t it Mark Twain who said “Kill all the lawyers” or some such thing!

  36. lestatdelc Says:

#34 ahhhhhh… that would be the play Henry VI (Part 2) by William Shakespeare.

  39. SteveW Says:

    “active e-mail data”

    “operational RNC servers”

    That’s some major wiggle room.

  40. Pity The Fool Says:

Well that’s a pretty damning list so far. Those are all of the strategy people. And the dirty tricksters. Plus I don’t see Steve Atkiss and Greg Jenkins on that list — did they leave them off because there are federal cases pending against them for violating civil rights? I’d guess so.

How many of these people are still using the accounts?

Don’t look down on ALL lawyers…

…there are /have been GREAT lawyers in this country…

…Morris Dees of the Southern Poverty Law Center, Johnnie Cochran (God rest his soul), Willie Gary…

… all have done/do pro bono work for poor and disenfranchised defendants…

…what about the lawyers and their bright proteges at the Innocence Project…

…who’ve freed dozens of wrongfully convicted poor defendants (using DNA evidence)…

    …some from DEATH ROW…

…so despise the crooks like Abu Gonzo all you want, they deserve it…

…but there are GREAT lawyers in this country as well…

…Barrack Obama is one of ‘em…

  43. JPark Says:

It is amazing that trolls will still come by and defend an obvious attempt to circumvent established law. They really don’t care if “their side” did something wrong. They only care about clinging to power.

  44. Can-O-Whoop-Ass Says:

    #42-JPark,

I am convinced the30%’ers are just like Jake, DUHryll, Valiunt, etc, just friggen crazy in the first place, mix in god, then you have RogerX2 who thinks we should just arm anyone 18 an older. These are the stupid idiots who when the govt wants to chip people like a dog, you know for Americas homeland security. they will be lining up outside the injection clinic. DUHryll will get the chip with a little Cross laser etched into it, that costs $65 extra.

  45. JPark Says:

#43 These are the a-holes that would just be “following orders” from der Fuhrer. These are the good citizens that would call the SS on their neighbors if they didn’t rake their leaves just right. They are the ultimate sheep.

    yep.

These are the same people that think it’s ok for the government to read our emails, track what we search for on the google, listen to our phone calls, tell us what to do in our own bedrooms. And the list can go on forever….

They are the same as the nazi sympathisers (actually closer to the situation in Italy), they would have spied on you and turn you in to be executed. Thank the winds it hasn’t gotten that far……. Yet..

Rule of Law needs to be re-established in the United States of America. What we have now is Rule of the Mafia.
Organized Crime is what you really have to call what the monster in the Executive Branch is today.

If we do not jail the lawbreakers and make sure when we say never again, we remember ( colectively as a nation ) longer than 6 months ( or untill the next blond bimbo get caught not wearing underwear, shaves her head, or dies.)

If they do not pay for their crimes, 8- 12 years they will be back in the White House, doing it all over again.

    ok, i’m done ranting =)

  50. verse18 Says:

Let’s not forget the national security issues this brings up. I would assume that the government’s servers are highly protected with encoding, firewalls, etc. Doing government business on a server that has the potential to be easily hacked is not in the interest of the security of this nation. But it’s not as if the republics care anyway.

  51. pre-Amerikkkan Says:

Here’s the thing, it’s 20 years for every count! woweee!

Just have had some bad experiences with lawyers, so …..(NO, not the law, just lawyers :) ) And I think Oldwolf is right, those others are the kind that have in part brought this great nation to our knees.

OHHHHH, they are in soooo much trouble, all that text messenging is soooo expensive……you’re grounded buddy. And you are gonna have to wear this orange suit for the next 10 years too.

  54. Bjobotts Says:

Who is scrutinizing the RNC’s retrieval of email records? Are we just getting what they want to show us? Is any one else getting the feeling of “nothing to see here, just move on along” from the Repub base. After all the ‘lies’ so far I find it difficult to believe in the honor system when it comes to the RNC.

  55. Bjobotts Says:

What the hell is wrong with you people? Don’t you have high school in the morning? I’m positive they will discover all kinds of illegal activity as they sort through the emails BUT there is nothing illegal yet. Having emails sent to RNC server means nothing in and of itself. We’ve got to show it was done on the public’s time OR that emails contain government business…but so far they just identified who has email accounts through the RNC which means nothing illegal yet goobers.

  56. DoomedToRepeat Says:

To learn more about the Hatch Act go here (the US Office of Special Counsel [US OSC] website):

    http://www.osc.gov/hatchact.htm

And check out pages 18 thru 24 of the US OSC powerpoint presentation on the Hatch Act here:

    http://www.osc.gov/ documents/ hatchact/ HA%20presentation%20(federal).ppt#364,1,FEDERAL HATCH ACT 5 U.S.C. § § 7321-7326; 5 C.F.R. Parts 733-734

Note the exception for some PAS (president and senate-confirmed) and EOP (Executive Office of the President) employees.

I don’t know which employees qualify for the exception that includes “those whose duties and responsibilities continue outside normal duty hours and while away from the normal duty post, and are…paid from an appropriation for the EOP” (page 24). If they don’t qualify and they e-mailed from an RNC computer or blackberry in a federal office or federal building, I’m sure the administration would have no qualms about throwing them under the bus as they say.

Unfortunately, I bet Karl Rove falls into the definition of this exception.

However, I have no doubt that Karl Rove, as well as others with RNC e-mail accounts (as some evidence has already shown), have violated the Presidential Records Act and/or other law/laws by illegally using RNC e-mail accounts to send White House communications.

‘Mistakes were made’ cannot be an answer.
Stay on your Reps and Sens. Get those e-mails.

    My link didn’t work.

Go here and do a ‘find on this page’ search for powerpoint:

It’s under Hatch Act - Federal Employees.

  58. DM Says:

“we believe..?” I find it impossible to believe that the Secret Service couldn’t provide an exact list of all of the external accounts that each staffer had during their entire tenure in the White House.

  59. Jo-Ann Says:

How hard will the RNC work to give Congress the true number of emails that relate to the selling of America to the political ends of the GOP ? Not very hard. The depth and breadth of the political cancer that has permeated every area of government is something only a terrorist can love.

  60. John in Erie Says:

How much you want to bet that they are redacting the shit out of these “found” documents? As stated above, it is REAL easy to find the names and accounts of the users. All they have to to do is look at their Blackberry phone bill, fer Christ’s sake!!!

  61. Thad Says:

25 GIGS? What the hell are they sending?

There must be a lot of uncompressed images in there.

  62. ahem Says:

Thad: that’s my thought. If you look at the doc-dumps, you see lots of cc:d and forwarded of Word docs, so I’d imagine that duplicated DOC and PPT files and the like make up the bulk of that 25 gig.

Waxman asked for header information: dates, senders, subject lines. The RNC won’t dish. It’s shit-scared about this.

A search-term based filter is bullshit. A date-sender filter makes more sense.

  63. valiant venus Says:

Those RNC e-mails are far MORE important to Progs than Dianne Feinsteins steering millions in business to hubby’s company…no ethical lapse there!

  64. Karim Says:

Unbelievable…I am at a loss for words.

  65. blitzWolfR Says:

give susan ralston immunity and you can connect all the dots between the RNC and ABramhoff - she didn’t abruptly resign because sdhe “wanted to spend more time with her family”
