Carol Lam, one of the U.S. attorneys dismissed by the Bush administration, has been awarded the San Diego County Bar Association’s “most prestigious” award — outstanding attorney of the year.
Fine by me, crump’s brother. Submit an amendment that all current u.s. attorneys are appointed for life and cannot be removed by the next president for any reason whatsoever.
I can never understand why Republicans are in favor of Republican corruption. They defend it, dismiss it, ignore it, even applaud it. I don’t get it. I’m no fan of govt, either side. I prefer the Dems but I’d call them out if they were doing the sh!t that Bush is up to. I don’t understand how you can be for America but support this b.s.
Competence and Accountability are no where to be found says:
We all know this incompetent AG (actually the President –they “serve at the pleasure of the President”) fired people doing their job –and Republicans at that! The problem is when you try to influence the course of Justice —that is not ethically wrong. Just wrong.
Yea, but she was on a case leading to the White House…the Duke Cunningham case was heading in the wrong direction therefore she was incompetent to the knuckle dragging fascists in this Bush Crime Family.
has anyone seen zoo-zoo lately? I know it past time for drop-off at her child care.

Hey look, our own TP stalker, who was so obviously drunk last night, that he pretended to have a wife, and repeatedly changed his posting name
Dude, your pathetic. Fair warning, everytime I’m posting, and your here, I will challenge you to keep you from derailing the thread.
Up for the it, d*ckwad???
michael, I guess you could find it to be a political statement, but then again, are you really surprised that the lawyer who proscuted and convicted the most corrupt congressman in history would be lawyer of the year?
Fine by me, crump’s brother. Submit an amendment that all current u.s. attorneys are appointed for life and cannot be removed by the next president for any reason whatsoever.
Even if your idiotic amendment was signed into law, michael, it wouldn’t have been relevant in this case. Carol Lam was originally appointed by Chimpy in 2002.
Next time, do a little research before spouting off, dolt.
“Fine by me, crump’s brother. Submit an amendment that all current u.s. attorneys are appointed for life and cannot be removed by the next president for any reason whatsoever.”
That’s a good idea. The amendment won’t pass until after the next election, and then dems can choose appointments for life.
So, Carol Lam was not only competent, she is recognized by her colleagues as an outstanding attorney. This clearly explains why Gonzales fired her: the Bush administration ONLY HIRES INCOMPETENT PEOPLE. How could Ms. Lam ever feel a “part of the team”?
poor michael, what a sad little doofus, can’t even keep his talking points straight. Try to stay on topic next time, creep. Or crawl back under your rock. Yeah, that’s a good idea: you stand a chance of evolving there.
I can never understand why Republicans are in favor of Republican corruption. They defend it, dismiss it, ignore it, even applaud it

You have hit the nail on the head my friend. If a Dem gets out of line, I’m the first to box their ears. And the Progressive blogesphere keeps Dems honest by holding them to their word.
But Republicans will make all sorts of excuses for their lying, cheating reps – it’s a lock step, or goose step, kind of mind numbing support that is hard to understand.
In the words of one of my favorite bloggers, driftglass:
You can either be a good American or a good Republican, but you can’t be both.
Even if your idiotic amendment was signed into law, michael, it wouldn’t have been relevant in this case. Carol Lam was originally appointed by Chimpy in 2002.
He doesn’t need tp do research he knows that. He knew it when he posted. He is a liar just like the rest of the trolls who infest the board.
No amount of research or factual responses will change that. He will just be back later with what he knows is another lie.
There is a huge difference between politicians and public servants. We are best served when politics stays on the outer rims. Our constitution and amendments already govern most of what is needed.
After the appointments the public servant should serve the public and no political interest.
Carol Lam deserves the accolades. She is probably willing to get her old job back, but she should pass. She has very bright future ahead for her. Repug criminals should be very afraid. Elected office, or a great appointment in a Democratic administration would be good. She’s a straight shooter, and a role model for young women everywhere.
that was not a political statement, huh?
Comment by michael — April 26, 2007 @ 11:37 am
And how do you know it was, stupid?
That is the Bar’s most prestigious award. What, are you trying to imply the San Diego Bar is part of the “vast left-wing conspiracy to make Pres Bush look bad”?
This was beyond politics. It was a patriotic statement-reinforcing values we profess: high ethics, professionalism, courage, dignity under fire, all in a career burnished by fighting against government corruption and corporate misdeeds.
These are American values, embodied by a woman with talent, class, and the grace to accept the award on behalf of the people who with whom she worked. Well done.
Joe, I agree. I was not implying that everything associated with politics is dirty. I meant to state that this honor is beyond R’s and D’s. It encompasses American values, which we, Americans from every spectrum on the political scale, should respect and honor.
Republican, Bush-appointed United States Attorney Carol Lam is a highly effective prosecutor and manager. She did an excellent job serving the public, and I am glad that the Bar Association in that heavily Republican district chose professionalism and honor over craven party loyalty.
>Fine by me, crump’s brother. Submit an amendment that all current u.s. >attorneys are appointed for life and cannot be removed by the next >president for any reason whatsoever.
right moron, thats the only other option, huh? how about “for cause” or “for x amount of years..” etc etc?
Carol Lam had to be nuetralized…she’s on the case that would have exposed the entire Republican Crime Syndicate. Wonder where Organized Crime went? They morphed into the RNC, Think about it….can this GOP support any candidate that has integrity? They can only run people for national office that are corruptible or, if that fails, blackmail-able. The last thing the RNC can afford are candidates willing to be independent and honest. The quid pro quo is simple…use your office to enrich yourself, just give us your vote without questioning how it effects your constituents.
“I can never understand why Republicans are in favor of Republican corruption. They defend it, dismiss it, ignore it, even applaud it
Dave C”
Neither can I. If Democrats were doing what Republicans have been doing, I’d be a registered Republican today. It’s not about policy differences…it’s about the crime and corruption. I can understand corruption when you benefit directly from the crimes…but for ding-dongs to post here in defense of these criminals makes me realize how dumb you have to be to identify with this “Party”.
Start calling it the Republican Syndicate…they don’t deserve the cover of a political Party.
Why does the San Diego County Bar Association HATE America?
April 26th, 2007 at 11:35 amHeck of a job Gonzo. Could you inform us again why Lam was let go? Does this mean all the lawyers in San Diego are worse?
April 26th, 2007 at 11:35 amI think its time we consider amending the Constitution so that this does not happen again.

They’ve already overwhelmingly voted to take away the patriot act part that allowed appointment without congressional approval.

No, just MA. You don’t get much worse than that.
April 26th, 2007 at 11:47 amActually –not ethical —ethically wrong — and might I add unamerican.
April 26th, 2007 at 11:47 amI’m sure we’ll have a significant higher office awaiting you in the next administration, Carol Lam.

“Political” doesn’t have to mean “dirty.” Politics can be about standing up for the noble values you discuss.
This was politics of the most admirable sort.
April 26th, 2007 at 12:51 pmIsn’t that a political slap in the face!
April 26th, 2007 at 12:52 pmSHE was TOO GOOD at her job, and therefore to save the administration from embarassment, she needed to be replaced…
The bar has been set by some of the following:
BROWNIE
RUINSFELD
MIERS
etc.
SHE would have set the bar too high, otherwise making it difficult to get an adequate replacement.
THAT’S BUSH LOGIC!!!
April 26th, 2007 at 1:02 pmWhat remains unsaid is her path to the White House via the Dukester.
Who in the WH was involved? KKKarl again? Big Dick?
Let’s hope Lam realizes this fact & conveniently leaks like Judith Miller.
