“I’m just envisioning what it would be like

to be a young soldier in the middle of Iraq and realizing that politicians have all of the sudden made military determinations. And in my judgment, that would put a kid in harm’s way, more so than he or she already is.” — President Bush, today, on how withdrawing a soldier from Iraq will place him in greater danger

Here’s an idea: George, why don’t you go over to the middle of Iraq, go on patrols with “real” soldiers, and see what it’s like?

Was it not a political decision that placed troops in the middle of Iraq in the first place?

Was it not, in fact, your decision, dear “decider?”

    George,

    1) YOU are a politician. I know you think you’re a king, but you’re actually just a politician. You ran for office in an election. That makes you a politician.
    2) YOU have made military determinations. YOU have overridden the decisions and plans of generals who know far more about waging war than you do. They even attended the War College. YOU were a deserter. YOU fired the ones who didn’t agree with you. Remember?
    3) YOU have put “kids” in harm’s way. You justified it with lies. You continue to lie about it. You refuse to listen to what the American people say about it. You pretend that you have no idea what the ‘06 election results mean.
    4) YOU wouldn’t have to try to envision “what it would be like to be a young soldier in the middle of Iraq” if you hadn’t been such a chicken shit when it was your turn to be a young soldier in Vietnam. You might have some idea now of what you’re talking about if you hadn’t gotten special treatment and gotten out of serving there.
    5) YOU need to shut your flapping simian lips, since nothing of any value is ever going to be uttered by them.

Yeah, Bush went to Yale. As a “legacy” student, and his GPA only includes his first three years (his fourth year was done under a non-numerical grading system, and his grades were “similar”). Kerry at least managed to improve his grades, going from 4 D’s in his freshman year to a B- average in his senior year.

As for his Harvard MBA, a fat lot of good that’s done him since every business he’s been put in charge of has failed.

Face it – Bush may be a guy you can shoot the breeze with at a bar, but he’s no intellectual heavyweight. That’s what they sold the American people on – that Bush would surround himself with the “best and the brightest”.

Get a clue, michael. He got special treatment to get him out of going to Vietnam. He jumped ahead of about 500 applicants for the Texas ANG, because his dad was a Republican congressman. He made a choice of staying stateside. And he didn’t even fulfill his Guard obligations. He deserted. He served time in a disciplinary unit. He was grounded because he wouldn’t take a flight physical. And we know why that was. He didn’t want to get caught as a coke addict.

Many times has he made times that we would leave. When they stand up! We Stand down. The truth is that in 2006, by the ‘plan’ was to have only about 5,000 troops in Iraq. Bush doesn’t want to make a timetable because he knows it wouldn’t happen.

  57. johnny plumber says:

To answer michael the troll’s “political decision” question, he need look no further than Moyer’s excellent documentary, “Buying the War.” In their own words and actions, Moyer’s shows how the neo-cons and Bush cabal (along with the compliant mainstream media) turned our nation’s grief and anger over 9/11 into their long-desired opportunity to illegally invade a sovereign nation. It has to rank as the height of cynical, immoral and purely political manipulation.

And, anticipating a typical troll retort, the intelligence was not “bad”; these criminals knew exactly what they wanted and manufactured lie after lie after lie to get it. Well, now they got it. One of the thousands of sad ironies is that all of Saddam’s phony saber rattling was not aimed at us, but at the one enemy he truly feared and whom he needed to have believe he was still a powerful force to contend with: Iran! Thanks to Bushco, Iran and the radical elements of Islam are now stronger than ever. What a nightmare; what a bad, bad joke!

Another Jake. Wanna bet he’ll also be in some super-secret military outfit, and that’s why he can’t prove any of it?

    Comment by barfly

Even a defense intellegence agent has an MOS, so that claim would be bullsh*t LOL

  84. Clyde the Ripper says:

    michael,

I know this is probably useless but in logic and the proof of statistics there is a process called the “null hypothesis”. It is used to predict and determine the accuracy of a premise or theory. The process is simple: you assume the opposite to your hypothesis and attempt to prove its validity. If the null hypothesis cannot be proven then the reverse is true. The question at hand then is that Bush was AWOL during his term of military. The null hypothesis would state that Bush attended all his periodic drills. It has been proven that there “is no official record in his file that he did.” Therefore the null hypothesis fails and it is a fact that Bush was AWOL QED

  86. Mr. Bush Goes To Hell says:

Bush GROUNDED for failing to take an ORDERED physical:

    http://www.awolbush.com/documents/BushGuardaugust1.pdf

And don’t start with the “Dan Rather” BS.

Miriam Carr Knox, Jerry Killian’s secretary said that although she did NOT type THOSE papers,

what was contained therein was TRUE.

    http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2004/09/15/60II/main643768.shtml
Knox is 86 years old, and completely comfortable in the eye of a storm. She spent more than two decades keeping pilots and officers in line at Ellington Air Force Base in Houston. Now, she wants to set the record straight about the memos that CBS News obtained.

Knox says she didn’t type these memos, but she says she did type ones that contained the same information.

“I know that I didn’t type them,” says Knox. “However, the information in those is correct.”

Knox says the information in the four memos that CBS obtained is very familiar, but she doesn’t believe the memos are authentic. She does, however, remember Killian being upset over Mr. Bush’s failure to take a physical.

“Did or did not Lt. Bush take a physical as ordered by Col. Killian,” Rather asks Knox.
“The last time, no he didn’t,” says Knox. “It was a big no-no to not follow orders. And I can’t remember anyone refusing to. Now for instance, with the physical, every officer knew that before his birthday he was supposed to have that flying physical. Once in a while they might be late, but there would be a good excuse for it and let the commander know and try to set up a date for a make-up. If they did not take that physical, they were off flying status until they did.”

Did Knox ever hear Killian talk about this, or did he write memos about Bush not taking the physical?

“He was upset about it. That was one of the reasons why he wrote a memo directing him to go take the physical,” says Knox. “I’m going to say this, but it seems to me that Bush felt that he was above reproach.”

    BUSTED!

    BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Bush is a LIAR, WAR CRIMINAL, MURDERER and a silver-spoon PUNK TRAITOR TO THE USA…

You prove it fu*k head. This is our house. Go get some info to prove Bush attended and passed his exam in the military or STFU.

  89. johnny plumber says:

Apparently, Michael is beyond hearing the truth. Here’s a short list of Bushco lies, which have already been proven (and not by Moyers alone): the Prague meeting that never happened; WMDs in Iraq that were never there; the Niger yellowcake that did not exist; the al Queda camps in Iraq that never existed (until now!); Iraq was behind 9/11 (not!); Saddam and Bin Laden were chums (they hated one another!). As I said, “lie after lie after lie” from the treasonous Bushco war criminals.

  90. Mr. Bush Goes To Hell says:

Well they deleted that comment as well.
So much for free speech on the Left.

    Yeah, boo-frickin’-hoo.

Try posting at some of the wackjob sites like “free” republic or LittleGreasyFascists, say something that they don’t agree with, and you will be BANNED.

And Rush, Malkin, Coulter DON’T provide a place to comment on THEIR columns.

THERE’S your “free speech zone”, wingnutjob.

    Enjoy…

  91. Bruce Gorton says:

    Clyde the Ripper

I was never much of a one for the null hypothesis, because it assumes we are in possetion of all the facts.

Rather I go on the fact that the military keeps records of its soldiers, Bush would have used his record to defend himself at the time and he didn’t, therefore the likely answer is that Bush wasn’t present at the time. Hence: AWOL with connections.

    ——————————————-

Mr barfly, I have not used one word of profanity in my posts.

On the previuos thread I posted a comment 5 times regarding Somalia, the legacy of our retreat from that country and how it has been used by al-Qaeda (and other jihadist groups) as propaganda in their videos, tapes and websites ever since.

Today Somalia is a basketcase country with constant warfare between Taliban-like Islamist groups and various warlords.

While my comment is repeatdly deleted, the regular Thinkprogress posters spent an hour making boner jokes.

    Free speech ?

  93. Bluedahlia says:

My, your debating skills are marvelous! I don’t come to this blog because I care what people think of me, I come here to challenge idiots like you!

    Comment by michael — April 27, 2007 @ 6:53 pm

And to quote yourself, “I am not here to debate YOU!” I am here to point out that you are a POS stalker that is deserving to be crushed underneath my 3inch spiked heel. Stalker garbage.

  94. Ringo says:

LGF will ban you for profanity and making threats.

I guess thinkprogress bans people for making a point that they don’t like.

  95. IgnoranceIsNotBliss says:

Unfuckingreal. Just; Unfuckingreal real. How can anyone, ANYONE justify the crap coming out of his mouth?

(shaking head, deep sigh, barf on keyboard)

  96. IgnoranceIsNotBliss says:

The only way that bringing them home is going to hurt them is if they have to go to Walter Reed.

  97. Bluedog49 says:

michael: “I served in the U.S. Navy from 1965 – 1971. Who went AWOL? If you are going to say Bush, be prepared to prove it, idiot!”

If you really did serve then, you should know that according to miltary code in those days, being out of contact with command for over 30 days was classified as AWOL. There is no evidence that Bush ever contacted command personnel at his assignment in Alabama. There are no records of his service for a period of about 9 months. There are also questions about how someone who refused to take a physical, thereby giving up his pilot’s status, could have gotten an honorable discharge. So, don’t act like there are no questions about Bush’s service.

  98. Ringo says:

    And again:

It is just my funny way of talking. All to prove that you were right to begin with. Generally the trolls will leave when confronted with a comment that doesn’t contain the words they know. Usually the words that barfly and Ringo are debating now.

  100. USA says:

I guess that should be reassuring for stupid people. Because it makes absolutely no sense.

  101. Bluedog49 says:

Boo, hoo hoo, they deleted my comment. I’ve got the vapors. Whining trolls are so pathetic. If you don’t like it here, get the f*ck out!

  102. Ringo says:

  104. Ringo says:

    Now it reappears @ 94.

I’m not really sure why the Thinkprogress censors were so afraid of a dissenting comment in the first place.

    Have fun moonbats…I’m gone.

  105. Mr. Bush Goes To Hell says:

LGF and “free” republic will ban you if you say ANYTHING bad about Bush.

YOU haven’t been banned here, have you?

    By the way, on topic,

Bush is a TRAITOR to the USA, and an AWOL coward silver-spoon coxucker PUNK who is now a WAR CRIMINAL and MASS MURDERER.

Who couldn’t POSSIBLY “envision” ANYTHING about what these soldiers face.

The Democrats gave Bush ALL the money he wanted, and MORE for equipment, etc.

As far as his claims of “pork”, Bush’s request of 95 million sends a LARGE CHUNK for military projects that are NOT Iraq.

So, again, he is a LIAR who DOES NOT CARE ABOUT THE TROOPS.

All he cares about is saving his azz from WAR CRIMES TRIALS.

  106. barfly says:

“Mr barfly, I have not used one word of profanity in my posts.”

Mr. Barfly? They only call me that when I get stuck with the tab.

And we’d be taking your word that there was no profanity. Sorry, but after Iraq, we don’t take republicans at their word, anymore.

My bet is that he couldn’t fly one very well. His commander sure didn’t mind getting rid of him, even when it meant tolerating an AWOL pilot. Now why is that? Because Bush sucked maybe, huh? Because none of the other guys wanted to fly with him, huh?

  120. Bluedahlia says:

    Big Papa,
Sadly, or maybe not so sadly, I don’t watch TV at all. We don’t have cable, so even if I tuned in, I couldn’t “tune in”. We just think it is mostly all garbage. (Athough, I hear from people at school that there are some good programs on Discovery and History channels)

I do try and keep up with intersting things I read on the internet and then watching them if they are posted on the web. We get subscriptions from National Geographic and Popular Science and enjoy those. So I guess to answer your question, no. Sorry :) Did I miss anything interesting?

  128. michael says:

His policies. His bellicosity. His stubbornness. His unwillingness to talk to our enemies. His name calling. His unwillingness to admit error. His willingness to lie. Just a second there.

Mr. President, sir, with all due respect: You are not very good at “the vision thing”.

Me-humbly-thinks it runs in the family. How to explain Iraq otherwise?

And in my judgment, that would put a kid in harm’s way, more so than he or she already is.

    ::sigh::

Mr. President, sir, you have showed very little in the way of good judgment. How to explain Iraq otherwise?

And do I need to remind you this soldier you are talking about is already in harm’s way because you put them there? Why talk about it as if they had been put in harm’s way by magic, a miracle, divine intervention?

    It boggles the mind.

    It really does.

  131. marlow says:

Good one, chimpy. Fire the generals who tell you the truth, then accuse everyone else of playing politics. No one will catch on to that…

    Comment by michael

I am suggesting you do not know your classification code for you claimed military service. Something every soldier, marine, sailor, and flyboy knows. Look on your release papers.
    You got release papers, right?

And you continue to avoid answering even now, pervert stalker and namejacker.

DD Form 214, your discharge papers and separation documents, Michael

  134. Mr. Bush Goes To Hell says:

Actually, Kerry’s medal were determined by RAPEUBLICAN Navy Secretary John Lehman to be PROPERLY AWARDED.

TRAITOR Bush, on the other hand, was GIVEN a PURPLE HEART last week by a soldier that had EARNED “3″ of them.

    Comment by mongo — April 27, 2007 @ 5:44 pm

Noone can say commander in chief anymore with a straight face. It comes up in conversations as such: “This war is stupid, and President Bush wants us to keep fighting it.”

“well he’s the commander in chief so we have to do what he says.”

And then everyone erupts into laughter.

    And that’s not a joke.

  136. loretta says:

I think soldiers in Iraq would take some comfort from the fact that although “politicians” are making “military” decisions, at least NOW SOME OF THE POLITICIANS MAKING THESE DECISIONS HAVE ACTUALLY SEEN COMBAT, unlike the decisions made for the last four years.
sorry, I’ve not read thru all of the comments, so this MAY be redundant, if so, I apologize.

  137. Marge says:

IF bush really really served honestly in the Texas Air National Guard then why in the hell can’t we find any—-any record at all of it. I’ll tell you why, they couldn’t just delete the refusal to take a pee test and his running and hiding, they had to delete every single thing pertaining to this so call stint in the guard……..Some day…some how something is going to surface that will show this country that bush is the lily livered yellow bellied coward that we all know he is.

Which enemy are you referring to? The war I know is between the Kurds and Sunnis and the Shiites. We are just there getting in there way, and fucking up their lives a little bit.

    Go enlist, asswipe.

  140. Janet says:
