Renzi denies retirement rumors.

“Despite rumors to the contrary, Rep. Rick Renzi (R-Ariz.) said in a brief statement Friday morning that he intends to serve out the remainder of his current term, his third in the House. ‘I am honored to have recently been re-elected, and I’m looking forward to continuing to serve the people of the 1st district for the next two years,’ Renzi said. Telephone calls and e-mails to Renzi’s office seeking a further explanation of the Congressman’s plans were not returned.”

  2. Clint says:

Serving the remainder of his term in the house? Yeah, the big house!

  3. lunacy says:

    Resign! Liar and crook.

  4. DM says:

By all means Renzi, don’t resign. Remain here in the public eye where we can post daily archived photos of McCain staunchly supporting you.

  5. wags says:

i can’t decide if this dude leaving would be better for the country or not. on the one hand, he’s ridiculously corrupt. on the other, it may hurt the rethugs’ chances in ‘08. i dunno….

“I am honored to have recently been re-elected, and I’m looking forward to continuing to serve the people of the 1st district for the next two years,” Renzi said.

Guess he received a RNC email from cheney/rove at the WH advising that the play book calls for obstruction and foot dragging when faced with potential jail time.

  7. Proud Dem says:

They are all starting to sound like broken records. “I won’t resign, I won’t quit.” Day by day, they sound more idiotic.

    Left turn at next election!

  8. Republicans are the Fear and Smear Cowboy says:

Renzi is now officially part of the psychotic, collective, republican mindset of “I will not resign under any circumstances.”

  9. Kate Henry says:

He’ll stay in office until they march him off to jail. Typical Republic…

  10. Dr David Delacroix says:

“I will not resign.” Translated, I believe this really just means, “I, Rick Renzi, will stick it out as long as possible, leveraging whatever power I have as a US Congressman to obstruct, delay, hinder and otherwise just benefit myself in order to prevent, postpone or minimize any jail time in a US Federal penitentiary.”

I guess it’s time to check out the odds from the Vegas bookmakers on just how long Mr. Renzi has left to breathe the air as a freeman and lay some money down. Mr. Renzi, with his handsome Hollywood glass jaw and his sexual potentcy (27 children) is on his last legs and should take the time he has left and available to him to get measured for his prison blues. Remember, Rick, pleats are out of style. You probably want a boot-cut style pair of prison pants, with a high and tight inseam to show off and pander your family jewels.

I’m guessing that in prison Mr. Renzi will be very popular with a particular segment of inmates – Mexican illegals.

Maybe Mr. Renzi can ask his ManTech daddy what he should do. My guess is that General Papa Doc Renzi would gladly feed his own son to the sharks.

  11. DM says:

#6 – Speaking of RNC emails, doesn’t creating a separate network of communications for the use of concealing activities intended to illegally influence the performance of government functions constitute conspiracy to commit treason?

We really ought to stop waiting for the video of Rove cackling with a smoking gun in his hand, yelling “screw the constitution!” That’s a comic book image. The real enemy is the greasy-palmed creep of fascism, the slow erosion of principles and trust. The villain is here, now, and hiding in plain sight, folded in the flag and bound with the Presidential Seal.

  12. Dr David Delacroix says:

“ManTech International, how may I direct your call?”

“Yes, General Papa Doc Renzi, please.”

“May I tell him who’s calling?”

    “Yes, Rick Baby Doc Renzi.”

    “Please hold.”

    Silence and elevator music.

    More silence and elevator music.

“I’m sorry, General Papa Doc Renzi is unavailable to take your call. Would you like his voice mail?”

    “Yes, please.”

Little Rickie Baby Doc Renzi reaches his daddy’s voice mail:

“Dad. Call me! This is like the 17th time I’ve left a message. Call me! The FBI is asking me all sorts of questions about ManTech and sweetheart deals. What do I say? Call me! Oh, and Dad? Remember the advice you gave me in when I was in the Boy Scouts about not taking long showers with other guys? Does that apply to Federal Prison as well? Let me know, I miss you Dad!”
