Yesterday, ThinkProgress noted David Broder’s baseless claim that, thanks largely to his views on Iraq, a “long list of senators of both parties…are ready” for Sen. Harry Reid’s tenure as majority leader “to end.” Today, the Post publishes a letter to the editor signed by all 50 members of Reid’s caucus, praising him for his “extraordinary leadership.”

April 27th, 2007 at 1:35 amThe Washington Post used to be a paper that Americans could trust, but they seemed to have steered off the right path. It is about time that they start to represent America and not the neocon ideology that is poisoning America. Please get with it Washington Post.

April 27th, 2007 at 3:13 amWhy take this senile idiot so seriously? Ignore him, already!
April 27th, 2007 at 3:30 amI saw the 2008 Democratic presidential hopefuls debating last night. In general I was pleased with the debate and the unity of the candidates on the issue of BushCo’s botched war on Iraq. But everytime I saw Governor Richardson I wanted to throw a chair at the television screen.
I lived in New Mexico in 2003 and was active in protesting the Invasion of Iraq there. In the weeks surrounding the beginning of the Invasion of Iraq I caught an interview of Bill Richardson on a conservative radio show on station KKOB (affectionately referred to as KKKOB). When Richardson was asked about the impressive turnouts of people protesting the invasion he responed that the protesters “were stuck in the sixties”. I have called Richardson’s office on numerous occasions asking for an apology but none has been received.
Richardson was also behind the railroading of Los Alamos scientist Wen Ho Lee. A more dispicable political act of blind ambition would have been difficult to find before the era of BushCo.
The man is not, I repeat not, to be trusted!

April 27th, 2007 at 4:48 amshoving it in the face of the cult of republicanism propagandda slobs is a necessary and important thing for democrats to do. Congratulations to the dem Senators.
April 27th, 2007 at 5:47 am.
Senators should ignore David Broder and his article so this exchange will not be ‘tit for tat’ by him and the media.
He is not worthy a response….
April 27th, 2007 at 5:47 amThat is exactly what Democrats need to be doing: sticking together. That is awesome.
April 27th, 2007 at 6:18 amThe problem with ignoring broder is the for better or worse, he is seen as an important opinion maker by a lot of people. people who read his column or quotes from his column. He’s not seen as a wingnut, yet, so we need to make it the common wisdom that he is a delusional old fart who would rather see young soldiers die than shut up and admit he was wrong.

Before any troll talks about this terrorist being innocent, I heard the interview on the Pacifica Network where he TOOK CREDIT for the bombing!
April 27th, 2007 at 6:39 amBroder should resign. Clearly he is delusional.
April 27th, 2007 at 7:10 amThe time for David Broder, who sups with Karl Rove on the porch of his log cabin, is past. This country needs journalists who will investigate with a neutral eye, not pundits in bed with the administration. This shows how out of touch Broder is with the country. That fits in with an administration that is also out of touch, but our country is suffering as a result. The mainstream media needs to get back to scrutinizing the executive branch, which Broder has never done, not exclusively criticizing the legislative.
April 27th, 2007 at 7:15 amBroder should resign from journalism, go back to journalism college, become a pundit, or just retire.
April 27th, 2007 at 7:21 amIf wapo is to change, and I doubt that that is possible, then they have to be hurt in the only area that counts- their pocketbook!
April 27th, 2007 at 7:25 amBoycot them and boycot every single advertiser! And write write write!
Washington Post must fire Broder for slander and false reporting. He must join Don Imus as being unemployed!
April 27th, 2007 at 7:31 am“This country needs journalists who will investigate with a neutral eye, not pundits in bed with the administration.”
I disagree with Broder on just about everything, but he is a pundit, not a journalist. I think we need to read both sides on the opinion pages regardless of which side I agree with. Yes, we need good investigative journalists, but we really aren’t going to find them on any opinion page.
April 27th, 2007 at 7:46 amThere is a long list of reader’s who are ready for Broder’s tenure as a columnist to end.
April 27th, 2007 at 8:01 amEvery time a Republican sneezes you people call for resignation, impeachment or jail.

I do not follow your rationale. Are you saying that a pundit should be held to a much lower standard of truth than a journalist? Aren’t pundits supposed to follow principles of journalism? And why on earth do you think we “need” to read “both sides” (are there only two sides?)?

April 27th, 2007 at 8:32 amHappy Guy, your guy Bush lied this country into an unnecessary and destructive war, then lost the war through extreme incompetence, all the while doing his best to destroy the U.S. constitution while subverting the rule of law. But I suppose you call that a sneeze.
Please move to North Korea, loser, because that is the sort of authoritarian government you seem to support.
April 27th, 2007 at 8:34 amNow they went and did it. Broder’s going to have to write a column calling them all traitors now!

I see. First we have a simpleton who believes that there are only two sides to every issue, now we have an imbecile who believes there is only one side. Oh, I get it, you are trying to be ironic. But what you are really doing is putting up a strawman, because I never said nor implied there was only one side to any story. To the contrary, I suggested that there are more than two sides to a story. But it looks like we have some real black and white thinkers here.
April 27th, 2007 at 9:23 amOne of the little bits of intellectually thuggery practiced by the right when they are losing the debate is to demand that everyone listen to them because they assert to have a valid point of view that deserves weighty consideration. But no such courtesy is necessary when they are spewing lies. Lies are not a valid point of view about anything, and decent people should feel no obligation to silently tolerate the lies told by Republicans and their morally bankrupt supporters.

April 27th, 2007 at 9:47 amThis action by the Dem caucus is encouraging. They will stand together and defend the unfounded opinions of the pundits. This is a good first step — they need to continue to hit back every time they are falsely attacked.

your probably talking about Exlaxley. He’s a typical hipocritical idiot with the usual right wing double standards. He’s going to demand absolute proof that america happily supports and coddles terrorists as long as they kill the people we want them to. He didnt ask for such standards of proof before we invaded iraq, nor to lock up people without trial who are accused of terrorism by mr “we know where the weapons are”. He thinks the most horrible terrible thing in the world is 9-11 and that america has never commited atrocities of equal or greater magnitude against other countries. He thinks the world revolves around him and his poor little “scared of a few brown men with jetliners” self.
April 27th, 2007 at 10:34 amHey, Broder, if you’re going to carry water for the White House, try using a bucket without so many holes in it.
Better idea: Stop shilling for a bunch of lying losers who are destined for the darkest pages of American history.

Too bad Reid’s a Senator and not a Representative, huh?
Not that it would matter, I haven’t heard ANY Dems in the House call for Reid’s ouster
And regarding Wm “Cold Cash” Jefferson, it appears you’re unaware that when his office was raided, it was the GOP House leadership who whined the most about how terribly unfair it was to search his office
But hey, you keep reaching for the stars there, lil’ trooper, I’m sure at SOME point you’ll make sense with points that aren’t so easily debunked
